A word from dbar
Open 7 days a week, dbar is a full service restaurant that seamlessly transforms into a nightclub and lounge as the night goes on. Formally an old school Irish pub filled with mahogany charm, dbar has been renovated into a hip chic hot spot. With warm glowing candles & long leather banquettes, dbar offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere that attracts clientele from Dorchester and surrounding areas. The unique and classy menu inspired by Executive Chef Christopher Coombs changes with the seasons and features the finest and freshest available ingredients throughout the New England area. Most of the menu takes a French twist, but also contains an assortment of comfort foods (such as our famous Veal & Pancetta Bolognaise) and old favorites (like our simple yet delicious Giannone Chicken Under a Brick.)

While the patio was a little cramped and the tables felt too small, the food was creative and delicious, try the braised pork tacos, and the staff was attentive and friendly. Will go again for sure

My husband says this was the best salmon he has every had. I had the scallops and they were wonderful. We ate outside - no view but they've done quite a bit to hide the fact you are behind the building and off a parking lot. We didn't care for the background music (electronic - house/trance?) but this would be the only very minor change we'd recommend.

I have been to the dbar several times over the past few years and it is consistently an amazing place that pleases me and my guest. The ambience the food the service and the drinks are fantastic I love that it is so versatile you choose the atmosphere you want for example you can have a large group outside enjoying the patio you could go for a date or anniversary and get a nice dark corner of the restaurant or if you go later at night you can go with friends and there is a DJ and a great bar in dancing.

Despite being a Friday evening in the Summer with most of Boston going to Provincetown, MA for the weekend. dbar was busy and had a buzz at 8.30 in the evening. The outdoor area was full with people enjoying a cocktail, meals and great service. The food and drinks were amazing. I would definitely go back

The setting around the dbar is not gorgeous: gas station, busy street, gritty. But inside it is calm and inviting, and the service is excellent. So if you are looking for well-prepared good in a comfortable setting where you can actually have a conversation, head over. There is parking next to the restaurant, and the price is right. I went on a Friday night with family who were visiting, after failing to find another restaurant with really good food ratings and available seating. Dbar was the right choice. We shared an special appetizer salad that was delicious and creative. For main course I had scallops with risotto. Perfectly done. Too full to eat dessert, but I'll try it next time.

So surprised we had no wait for a Thursday night. Everyone was on the patio. The menu changes frequently and we have started to visit more frequently because the food is so good and we hope for some new creative dish by the chef. We were not disappointed as a creamy cold avocado and corn soup was my start. I went for the short ribs and it was so much I didn't have room for anything else. It was comfort food and so flavorful. It even tasted great the next day for lunch. This is a perfect home for foodies, and I am becoming one. The service was friendly and I feel really comfortable here no matter when I come. Thank you DBar.

Had really great service and a delicious brunch. We had lots of laughs and a great time. The Steak Frites and eggs were wonderful especially since we added a side of bacon!

DBar is a very good restaurant. We find it dependable to amaze us on the complex combinations that taste so good. Our most recent visit was for mission figs wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with a creamy goat cheese. For the entree, I had the pan seared fluke with a corn succotash and fingerling potatoes. Heavenly, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. This restaurant has not disappointed us in the five times we have been this a sure bet for any foodie. Enjoy!

The wait staff is just the right amount of attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I love that the menu features seasonal foods and has a great variety of options. We had a party of 9 for graduation. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. Our waiter, Cody, was very professional and his service was fantastic. The appetizers and entrees that he served were delicious. The Tuna Ceviche was shared by a few of us as was the fried Calamari. Everyone enjoyed! Cody congratulated the graduates at the table, which they were happy to hear. The atmosphere was cool, dinner music was perfect and promptly at 10, the classic videos started to play. It was a great time. We will definitely be back. Thank you dbar and the very professional staff!

The food was very good and the bartender made excellent drinks. Our server, Cody, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. When they realized our food was taking longer than expected, they offered us a round of drinks on the house. Talk about class and superb customer service. That gesture alone has earned them my patronage for life. Other restaurants should take a page out of Dbar's customer service book.

We went there on Mother's day for brunch and were seated right away as we had one of the first reservations at 11am. We did not receive or main course till 12:30. Our drinks were empty for most of the time and the server was nowhere to be found. For a set menu I would have assumed it would have been better service and it was not busy as there were numerous tables outside and inside that were available. It is a shame as the menu looked good and general reveiws about food were good. However after further review, several comments on services from multiple sites stated the same thing... poor service.
