Open 7 days a week, dbar is a full service restaurant that seamlessly transforms into a nightclub and lounge as the night goes on. Formally an old school Irish pub filled with mahogany charm, dbar has been renovated into a hip chic hot spot. With warm glowing candles & long leather banquettes, dbar offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere that attracts clientele from Dorchester and surrounding areas. The unique and classy menu inspired by Executive Chef Christopher Coombs changes with the seasons and features the finest and freshest available ingredients throughout the New England area.   • "DBar is a very good restaurant. We find it dependable to amaze us on the complex combinations that taste so good. Our most recent visit was for mission figs wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with a creamy goat cheese. For the entree, I had the pan seared fluke with a corn succotash and fingerling potatoes. Heavenly, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. This restaurant has not disappointed us in the five times we have been this a sure bet for any foodie. Enjoy!"

  • "I've been to dBar three times with friends (groups of 4-6) and always had a great meal and very enjoyable experience. The wait staff is just the right amount of attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I love that the menu features seasonal foods and has a great variety of options. We range from a meat/potatoes eater, to a vegetarian and have always been very pleased with the food. The bartenders are great also which adds to the experience."

  • "We had a party of 9 for graduation. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. Our waiter, Cody, was very professional and his service was fantastic. The appetizers and entrees that he served were delicious. The Tuna Ceviche was shared by a few of us as was the fried Calamari. Everyone enjoyed! Cody congratulated the graduates at the table, which they were happy to hear. The atmosphere was cool, dinner music was perfect and promptly at 10, the classic videos started to play. It was a great time. We will definitely be back. Thank you dbar and the very professional staff!"

When they realized our food was taking longer than expected, they offered us a round of drinks on the house. Talk about class and superb customer service.   • "We went there on Mother's day for brunch and were seated right away as we had one of the first reservations at 11am. We did not receive or main course till 12:30. Our drinks were empty for most of the time and the server was nowhere to be found. For a set menu I would have assumed it would have been better service and it was not busy as there were numerous tables outside and inside that were available. It is a shame as the menu looked good and general reveiws about food were good. However after further review, several comments on services from multiple sites stated the same thing... poor service."

  • "So happy to have found this place, I can already see myself coming here regularly. Friendly and quick service, very cozy yet classy ambiance, and the best part is it has its own parking lot! The food was delicious. I had the seared tuna with forbidden rice, and it was amazing! Also recommend their parsnip soup, their crispy calamari, and their steak! Their cocktail list is extensive and interesting full of original concoctions. Nice and strong, I can't wait to try them all!"

  • "The food there is great. However once in a while my husband and I are seated with a young man named David who seems to be the only one who can't provide premium service. When we ask for a certain dish to be made a particular way, all other servers make sure it gets done, except David. When I asked for a smaller spoon, all other servers can find a smaller spoon, except David. David either doesn't want to take a moment to adhere to the guest request, is lazy, or simply doesn't know how to provide premium service. I highly suggest one advise David that his pay comes from the regular patrons who frequent dbar, and that all guest request should be attempted, rather than simply denying it on the spot without even attempting to honor a request."

  • "I went for the first time to dbar a couple nights ago with a friend. Very good service...five starts for that! The dish I ordered was powerfully tasty, but the drink I ordered beforehand, a Bloody Mary, was just OK (and came with a salted rim...odd!) So four stars for "food," though it was maybe 4.5 for food but two or three for the drink. I'm phobic about noise and knew the place had an active bar scene that heated up as the night progressed. But my friend and I were able to converse without shouting--granted we were there on the early side, 7:00 to about 8:30 on a Friday night. "

  • "dbar was terrific from cocktails to dessert and coffee. Fried calamari was light and flavorful. Striped bass, although a very small serving size, was delicious. Spring vegetable pappardelle was scrumptious. Dessert was a medley of mango sorbet and lavender and espresso ice creams (3 scoops served in martini glasses). Only compliant was a table of 5 several feet away from us that was ridiculously loud and cackling. They were, I believe, pretty wasted on alcohol and were oblivious to their noisiness. Waiter offered to move us but there wasn't a table without a wait. I highly recommend making a reservation and, although there is a lot adjacent to dbar, be prepared to park on Dorchester Ave."

The server was knowledgeable and attentive, without overdoing it. The dessert was a little slow in coming, and he comped it, which was unnecessary. Nice scene too. Will return."

  • "Two friends and I enjoyed attentive but not overbearing service on Saturday night. The food was tasty, and the drinks were satisfying. Both bartenders paid attention to us, and the host and hostess were inviting as well. I will go again. The Cool Cucumber martini and tuna ceviche were as good or better than the equivalents at other Boston restaurants that I frequent. I would like to emphasize that Andy and his fellow bartender stood out. I truly appreciated going to a restaurant that i had not been to and receiving outstanding service and being made to feel welcome. I would like to note that the standard response by Andy to us and others was "Of course." I love hearing that, especially as compared to "No problem" when I ask for something."
