  • "The food did not reflect the prices. My husband and I didn't really like most of what we ordered. Our daughter liked hers. The sweet potato soup was fantastic. We were quite surprised at the small portions served, especially the ice cream. It was less than one bite ! Really ? We were seated next to a window overlooking the valet guy, looking bored and the parking lot in a small room by ourselves. The menu really threw my husband and me. It was a mystery as to how to read the thing. Very confusing. All in all, it was an experience I'm glad we had, but will not want to spend over $160.00 on again."

  • "My wife and I were visiting from Charleston,SC and decided to try DBA. We were treated like royalty by Lindzee who served us and by the hostess, Cynthia. Food was amazing from the delicious mussels (the best we have ever had- a must-try), to the elegantly prepared tenderloin of beef.The surprise of the night was the green spaghetti, which was different, delightful and delicious with a unique buttery and nutty flavor. Our only criticism, given that we do not expect to be in Akron in the near future, is that DBA needs to open a restaurant in Charleston! I am sure that among the many excellent restaurants in Charleston, DBA would still stand out as superb fine dining."

  • "I have delayed trying Dante's new Akron restaurant as I have been disappointed at his Tremont location. My wife likes his food there so I finally gave in to trying DBA. The appetizers and salads were better than expected. The salad was a decent portion (although paying $10.00 for a salad always seems unreasonable) and was tasty and nicely presented. The calamari was also nicely done, had a great flavor and was not your standard deep fried squid with nothing but breading. I'd recommend both the hearts of palm salad and the calamari. My wife's special salad (crab) was also very nice. She liked her scallop entree a lot and the taste I had I thought was great. My entree, the spaghetti with clams was pretty much tasteless."

  • "We had eaten at DBA twice soon after it opened and were very happy. We have also eaten at Dante's in Cleveland and had several excellent meals. So we were disappointed after our dinner. My wife and I did enjoy the smoked meat appetizer but things went downhill from there. My wife is gluten free (not by choice) and they did try to help with her selections. She ordered beef short rib with polenta. It was dull and dry. The polenta was good but how can short rib be dry? I ordered calamari. Mediocre and served with a boring mayo based sauce. I ordered the small portion of clams and linguini. I expected the clams to be fresh, in the shell. Wrong. They were overcooked and tasteless. The dessert was good, though and the cocktail and wine too."

  • "Dinner was a celebration for my friend's birthday and I knew she would love DBA. Green spaghetti was delicious (as always), pumpkin soup to die for, and the salmon was superb. Service was also exceptional. DBA's is one of my favorite places in downtown Akron and now with Jillian's open just across the street, it is an all night experience."

  • "Have been here four times before. The first time, fabulous. Second time almost as good. Third time was great (but it was for oysters and wine only). Most recent was so bad, we won't be going back unless we have to as guests on someone else's tab. My pork chop was as thin as the ones in a discount store's family pack...and overcooked to boot. Green pasta sauce was so dry, it took two utensils to separate it. The four sea scallops were just a bit larger than bay scallops. Noise level was beyond ridiculous; service was roller-skate type. Didn't enjoy feeling the brunt of whatever was going on there. Whether it's a busy night, mangmt change or other restaurant operational transition, diners shouldn't feel the side effects. Unfortunate."

  • "We've eaten here many times and taken friends as well. It's always been great - the food and the service. I'm not sure what happened this time but the service was bad - long lulls of nobody and definitely not a second drink. The food was good but not as great as usual; the entree selection was okay but again, not great. They were out of several things. We were there the day before valentines day - it was pretty quiet. The cushioning on the chairs were so flat and nonexistent, it was like we were sitting on the floor. It was just not an ideal night - I hope they aren't slipping. The whole experience was less than mediocre. Sadly, it's moved down on my list of restaurants."

  • "Planned a trip to DBA to celebrate my partner's birthday. Having been to most of the other locations in Dante's realm, it only made sense to give this place a shot. Immediately underwhelmed with the chairs (broken down seats making it feel as though you were seated on a toilet seat), our server Greg offered to swap out our chairs for some of the newer replacement chairs. With the location of our table & the adjacent diners, it was too much fuss & hassle. Greg assured us the chairs were all being replaced. Starters of mushroom soup & pear salad fell very flat. Beef tenderloin entree saved the night for both of us. Enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. Greg's service was attentive at first but went downhill as he was seated multiple times."

  • "My wife and I dined their last Saturday, we had been to another one of Dante's restaurants a few years ago and liked it very much as well. Everything we ordered was exceptional, we each had a different salad and both were outstanding, our entrees were very good and we ordered the risotto to go with it and it was very good too. The only thing we didn't like was the noise level, it was very hard to hear the server. They boxed up our leftovers without asking us which I thought was very nice however when we got home and went to give the dog the left overs, we found that they had given us someone else's leftovers."

  • "D.B.A has taken over the space formerly occupied by Chrissy Hynde's "Vegeterranean" but you could hardly recognize the space--now urban chic with a rock n roll motif. Same owner as "Dante" in Cleveland. Inspired menu with Asin twist to many dishes. Sea food and pastas dominate. Inspired wine list at reasonable restaurant prices. Service was professional. Looks like the bar area would be a hip late night spot. Highly recommend"

This was our second visit to the restuarant, and although we like the atmosphere and close Akron location, both times we have gone, our food has just been okay. There are just too many good restuarants in Northeast Ohio to waste time on one that is mediocre."

  • "We stoped in for a quick supper before catching a play at E.J. Thomas in Akron. The entire staff was welcoming, responsive, helpful and yet never intrusive. My husband's beef tenderloin was the best dish of our night. All our choices were tasty, however, the chef seemed very heavy-handed with the salt shaker, both on the lobster tempura appetizer and the clam linguine dish. We will certainly dine at DBA again ..."
