I've been to db a few times...always warm, friendly and unpretentious. Food is delicious and reasonable, service attentive, and it is convenient to the train. We shared the Alsatian tart with cocktails...paper thin and tasty. My friend had the duck breast and I had the hanger steak and frites and we each had an 8 oz glass of wine (not so reasonable, but good). A perfect way to end our day trip to NYC.

The appetizers were out in less than 5 minutes. Probably prepared ahead of time, and kept in the fridge. Worst, the main dish arrive even before the plates from the appetizers were removed from the table! Felt very much rushed. They should take less reservations, and take it easy on speed! Such a contrast compared to Daniel, which is a great experience, or DB from Miami; another very pleasant place.

Lady at the door was very nice. The restaurant was full. So service did very well considering how full it was. Tables are extremely close to persons in the next table...so not a very romantic atmosphere. Food was Ok, not bad. The foie gras was great. Desserts were nothing new or exceptional.

The wait staff were unprofessional and not consistent with the menu prices. The space is cramped and feels too much like a diner- brightly lit and minimalist. I know that's the latest trend but when I pay these prices I want a bit more ambiance.

I had not been since they re-decorated and I was a little disappointed with the results. First, something about it makes it look like a hotel breakfast spot; something about those booths and the ceiling lights...also, the food is more expensive and not as refined or as adventuresome as before. Still, the food was good. We were driven a little crazy by the staff asking us every 5 minutes (no lie), do you like it? How was the salad? etc- I sound grumpy but really, they overdid it. We were asked no fewer than 10 times.

food was fine though not particularly inspirational. mushroom risotto was a little overwhelmed with cheese while the squid ink pasta had a delicious briny flavor and was appropriately al dente. Duck confit was well-cooked, maybe too well cooked as the juicy flavor of the rendered duck fat was totally missing.

This restaurant clearly puts much thought into making dinner, or lunch, a wonderful experience. The dishes are creative and beautifully balanced, the seasonal menus are diverse and interesting, the service is professional and the staff attentive without being pretentious, the drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is welcoming. We keep coming back because we always walk away from DB Bistro feeling like we've had a wonderful meal and an equally wonderful experience.

Our convenient restaurant between GCT and Bway kept high standards on menu and delicious plates, but service was embarrassing. Our friends from San Diego were surprised at how often orders quickly taken were taken incorrectly. Appetizers, entrees and desserts had mistakes that had to be corrected. There was a problem of listening or of communication or confusion in the kitchen. In our years of dining here, this was a first.

Very UNDERWHELMING! The best course of the entire meal was the amuse. Appetizer (Onion Tart) was under seasoned and quite boring. The Dover sole was overcooked as well as the duck breast and very disappointing. I pointed this out to our server who's only remedy was the offer of a free dessert. Too many great restaurants in NYC to waste your time or money.

We were in NYC for a long weekend and booked DB before going to the theatre. The food was beautifully presented , the atmosphere was fresh, well designed and appealing to any age. But, the things that made us give DB 5 Stars is the level of service. The servers were outstanding. They obviously loved their job as they all were so well trained, pleasant and conscientious . Other restaurants could learn from the DB staff!!

The food here was very good. The shortfall was in the service. I have been to 3 other Daniel Boulud restaurants and was always made to feel special. Service was warm from the greeting at the door through all table service. Despite a reservation made well in advance, and a half empty restaurant, at db Moderne, we were deposited at a table right near the door. We were rushed through ordering and plates were quickly whisked away. The waitress had no enthusiasm whatsoever. The treatment put a real shadow on what should have been a great meal.

db Bistro moderne seems to have lost its touch. We had lunch last Sunday and were unimpressed by the lack of flavors in the classic dishes we have enjoyed there for many years, including the Burger (looked nice but no flavor), the Blanquette de Veau (dry and underwhelming), the beet salad with quinoa (completely "confused" in terms of flavors), etc. A real disappointment as this has been one of our favorite bistros in the City. To make matters worse, the service was mediocre at best and could have been at any NYC diner. Mr Boulud, please fix it. We want our old Bistro moderne back!

Clearly a step up from Daniel. Same great philosophy, more casual ambience, more reasonable pricing, better sized portions, outstanding service. This venue is not pretentious and won't charge you a fortune for three bites, and you won't want to go out for a pizza afterwards. Our water timed the meal perfectly after asking us if we were heading to theater afterwards. Our party of 4 shared two salads and each had a moderate sized main course. None of us had the burger, which was massive...I intend to try it next time. Clearly a winner but be prepared to pay a bit more for it.

This is a terrific restaurant with amazing food, that stretches the imagination of one's taste buds. The server was very attentive and ready to give advice if necessary. The COQ AU VIN, was made with Bacon, Mushrooms, and Farfalle Pasta. A serving size was just right of 2 drumsticks and a thigh. The wine sauce was awesome in reduction and taste. The HANGER STEAK, was made with Pan Seared Polenta, Romesco Purée and Broccoli Rabe made perfectly. This was a true treat and a perfect amount for a man with a healthy appetite. Desserts were visually outstanding and as expected unique. CAFÉ BRULOT could have had a sweeter cake and less chocolate covering the CHOCOLATE MACADAMIA PARFAIT was great but the Mint Ice Cream stole the show.
