The drinks at the bar before dinner were reasonable and the bartenders could not have been more welcoming and great to speak with! When we arrived the manager gave us a good table in the center. The table is full sized for 4 so we two felt very comfortable at it. The restaurant's interior is very nice and friendly. The service is fast and perfect, our poor English was not a problem to communicate with the staff. Large selection of beverages, meats and desserts. Complimentary assorted antipasto and several kinds of bread, all good. Ordered two 8oz wines, they brought small decanters for 'em - convenient. Steak, salad and dessert are perfect. No drawbacks, only happiness. Every time I've been here they've surpassed themselves. The only odd thing was that someone from management started hovering at the end of our meal and well before we were given our check. They have a private room on the second floor with a terrace and gorgeous skyline view. Food was outstanding, specifically the chicken parm, chicken/blue cheese, shrimp and philly cheese steak spring roll appetizers all served with their own sauces as well as the salmon salad and filet dinners. The food was beyond outstanding but what made us all stop and say WOW was the customer service. From the moment we checked- until we walked out we were referred to by name by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our bar check was effortless transferred to our table. Drink and food recommendations were great. At some point my son was tired so "Noodles" the creative server brought my son his noodles in 2 minutes. After he ate, kiddo wanted to lie down in the bay window next to our table and before his head hit the wood, he was cushioned with clean folded up linens and covered like it was a blanket and mattress store. It all started with the complimentary bread that was delivered with two spreads and some marinated olives. We got two appetizers, Philly cheesesteak rolls and the calamari fried. Then we got the short ribs and prime flat iron steak. Everything was very good. The servers were very attentive and took the time to really explain the menu. Our overall experience was excellent. The food and service were outstanding - a special recognition to Joe with whom we had a delightful conversation about wines and he went to extra effort to provide us some label information on wine we tried for the first time. We were in Philly celebrating our anniversary and his birthday. I requested a window table and we were seated at a perfect table for two by the window.
Our servers were superb! Christian and Neil were attentive, informative, extremely professional and personable!
The meal was outstanding --the calamari is the very best we have ever had--melted right in your mouth! Our entrees were outstanding and everything was timed perfectly.
Even our drinks, Manhattans and Sidecars were wonderful. You will not be disappointed in anything you order be it the fresh fish or fresh pasta options, and the steaks are simply what they are known for. There is however a catch. Stay away from the Wine List. On our last visit our waiter rolled three overpriced wines into the bill and put a mandatory 21% gratuity on top. This time, a $12.99 bottle of La Marca Prosecco was selling for $50. Literally more than 4x the face amount at a wine and spirit store. As a VIP diner that eats out several times a week, I'm accustomed to paying high prices on quality wine but when the restaurant quadruples the price point ... buyer beware.12/28/2012 12:00:00 AM
