  • "It's a great place for a celebration; in this case a birthday. Most of us ordered lobster roll and it was scrumptious. The buttered toasted roll was packed full with lobster meat and just right amount of mayonnaise. One person ordered a hamburger with fried onions and loved it. Desserts were wonderful too. We had the lemon cake, peanut butter tandy cake and an ice cream dessert with coffee and chocolate sauce. The birthday celebrant was given a plate that had "Happy Birthday Barbara" written in chocolate. The service was excellent and the ambience was lovely. I am looking forward to returning soon."

  • "Enjoy returning to Davio's each time. Made a late res, to avoid the midweek dinner rush. Table towards the back at a window. Perfect. Shared a NY Strip and a Lobster Tail. The steaks at Davio's are the most consistent in the city, and were true to form this time again. The lobster was server with butter-taragon sauce over a generous portion of garlic mashed potatoes. Very different, and added a lot of interest to the tail. Ordered a side of broccoli rabe, not too heavy on garlic and just a touch of desirable bitterness. The waiter suggested an off-the-list Alexdr Valley cab in the mid-range price that was the highlight of the night. For dessert, we split the Peanut Butter TandyTake w/ butterscotch ice cream. Service was excellent as always."

I have a gluten allergy, and the waitress said that Davio's is striving to be the #1 gluten free restaurant in Philadelphia! I'm very excited about this, for it is nice to have people know about this "annoying" allergy, and cater to them:)."

  • "Looked crowded when we first walked in. Good news was there is enough space etc. that 2 people can have a quiet conversation. Expensive, but great wine list. They also have 1/2 bottles which is what we did. Steaks were the best we've had outside the mid-west. Better Lugar's or S&W in NY. Kevin, the sommelier ensures you have an outstanding experience. Never have I had the sommelier make sure our water glasses were full, that our courses were coming at the right pace and he knows alcohol A to Z. Cocktails, his wine inventory, alternate selections and pairings. First steakhouse I have been in with homemade pasta. Cannot wait to return."

  • "It's one of those places that are there forever and probably don't even care about negative reviews. The food was very good but our waitstaff was inattentive, had clearly no knowledge of wines since they brought a $20 glass in warm condition. They were nice enough to put it in a cooler but after being without a drink for 1/2 an hour I eventually served myself. The food took forever and they didn't even acknowledge it. If we can help it we'll not return."

  • "I was treated to Davio's for my birthday, which was my choice, passing up Barclay Prime and several other top notch restaurants. I had been waiting with such anticipation for this special night and I was sooo disappointed! Service was painfully slow, we had to wait an agonizingly long time between courses. Our server flitted to our table asking if everything was ok but left before he received our reply and, at times, we wanted something so I had to grab at his coat before he was completely gone from sight. My lobster had very little taste, his steak was the same - tasteless. The desserts were quite good but nothing could make up for the entire night. Sadly, this is not the Davio's I remember. Oh well, back to Rittenhouse Square."

  • "I made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday on OpenTable and I mentioned his birthday (and love of lamb) in the comments section. The hostess was kind enough to wish my boyfriend a happy birthday without even being prompted, the waiter really highlighted the rack of lamb (which was excellent) AND when they brought out dessert, it had a candle and Happy Birthday with my boyfriend's name written in chocolate sauce without me even mentioning it! The egg roll sampler was creative and delicious. The truffled "macaroni" side was outstanding and actually better than my bolognese! The panna cotta was the perfect finish for a fantastic meal. Davio's made the birthday perfect!"

  • "The service is always great here and the dinners are excellent, so I feel bad pointing out one thing that was not up to par and that was the lamb chops. Two people in our party ordered them and neither liked them. Two days later I spoke to someone who ate at Davio's the night before us and was told that everyone in their group loved their meal except for the person who ordered lamb chops so considered yourself warned. That is why the review was 4 stars rather than 5 because the food is expensive so it should always be good. The egg roll appetizers are wonderful and the pasta is always very good. The staff could not be nicer! "

As the speciality at Davio's is meat, my date had the fillet and I had the lamb chops. Both dishes were cooked exactly to order and presented in a simple but classic manner. The staff is lovely and very personable. I can't say enough good things about this place, how had we not heard of it before?"

  • "My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Davios on May 8th celebrating our anniversary. The staff was extremely accomodating and very friendly. We shared the crispy calamari as an appetizer. A delightful, spicy dish that was thoroughly a plesure to eat. My wifr enjoyed a shrimp and scallop special. She enjoyed it immensely. It was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the sliced flat-iron steak that was well seasoned and cooked perfectly to medium-rare. We both enjoyed dessert. The pastry chef wrote "Happy Anniversary" on our plate; a very nice touch."

Afterwards they took us to the pent house and showed us the banquet facilities.. And then let us stay on the rooftop terrace as long as we liked. Phenomenal. Thanks Davios!"

  • "We absolutely adore this restaurant on many levels. But one that we do not adore is the service. It is TOO MUCH!!!!!!! Please stop and let us breathe. We have never seen so many servers in our lives, and we go out a lot. You are ruining the experience by doting over us. Let us enjoy our dinner and stop breathing down our necks on every bite we take. This is a fabulous restaurant that we enjoy frequenting and tell everyone how great it is. But after our last experience there, We're not sure. Please take our opinion to heart. Don't spoil a good thing. We don't need that much attention. Thank you! "

  • "Despite the good reviews I read on this restaurant and chose it from a long list of great offerings I must say it left me and my out of town guests very upset and unfulfilled. The food was marginal, the noise level made it very hard to have a conversation and the waiters were very rude...yes I said rude. We simply ask to move to a different table to be out of main traffic line and noise level of those entering in and out of the restaurant and was actually hassled bout that the entire night. My out of town guests even made a comment and was left with a bad taste, literally, in their mouths. Davio's, you have lost a customer! "

(Del Frisco wait staff should take lessons) There were five at our table, so we opted for a variety of appetizers, served family style. The calamari and cheesesteak spring rolls were our favorites. The rack of lamb is pricey ($49) but excellent. The only negative was the bland shrimp side dish. The molten chocolate cake was a winner."
