My husband loved the Caesar salad, said the dressing wasn't overpowering, but I could have used more flavor. The New York strip steak was excellent/cooked perfectly/delicious! It came w/a dipping sauce that was good but I didn't use it-when a steak is that good you don't need sauces! Crab cake was all crab w/a surprising little lemon kick to it, very good! We arrived early and had cocktails at the bar, they said it was our choice if we wanted to shift the bar tab to the table or not, ... nice. Some places make you close out the bar tab first, nice to have the option.
The service kicked in the minute we went to our table, warm, friendly, engaging. Appetizers:Hers - calamari, His - Caprese salad, both perfect, caprese tomatoes were gold - beautiful. Calamari portion size is REALLY for two. Entrees; Hers - Scallops, His - Long Bone Ribeye, medium. I felt like I needed a cigarette after the first bite! Sides were Sauteed mushrooms, Spinach, Onion Rings. I thought the onion rings were salty, but the mushrooms were very good and the spinach was outstanding. I wanted to take my friend here for a good birthday as he is a foodie and loves hearty portions. I'm happy to say he enjoyed his birthday dinner. I made a reservation on a Wednesday night and not surprisingly the restaurant was not busy. Our waiter was knowledgeable and jovial. He did not check on us constantly and gave us enough time to choose our meal, chat and chew. I tried the salmon which was really good and the brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly although they were a little small. He enjoyed the short ribs and left feeling satisfied and full. Oh... the spring rolls are a must have. Had a good place in the hall center near the window. Large variety of selection. I like to eat it and forget it until dinner, and the Davio's satisfied me completely. Also a buffet available. When we arrived the manager gave us a good table in the center. The table is full sized for 4 so we two felt very comfortable at it. The restaurant's interior is very nice and friendly. The service is fast and perfect, our poor English was not a problem to communicate with the staff. Large selection of beverages, meats and desserts. Complimentary assorted antipasto and several kinds of bread, all good. Ordered two 8oz wines, they brought small decanters for 'em - convenient. Steak, salad and dessert are perfect. No drawbacks, only happiness. Overall, it may seem pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for. The service was also excellent - I didn't even know how great a waiter could be until I dined at Davio's. He was helpful, articulate, attentive, funny, etc. Another member of the staff put our bouquet of flowers we brought into a vase on the table. Lastly, the ambiance was clean and classic with big windows, lots of sunlight, and beautiful architectural details. The food was beyond outstanding but what made us all stop and say WOW was the customer service. From the moment we checked- until we walked out we were referred to by name by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our bar check was effortless transferred to our table. Drink and food recommendations were great. At some point my son was tired so "Noodles" the creative server brought my son his noodles in 2 minutes. After he ate, kiddo wanted to lie down in the bay window next to our table and before his head hit the wood, he was cushioned with clean folded up linens and covered like it was a blanket and mattress store. The meal was outstanding --the calamari is the very best we have ever had--melted right in your mouth! Our entrees were outstanding and everything was timed perfectly.
Even our drinks, Manhattans and Sidecars were wonderful.
