Everything was very good with the exception of the filet that both my fiance and I ordered. We have ordered this many times here and it has always been divine, but this time it was tough and not up to par. The kitchen's willing to substitute!I'm always confident about the sort of time I'll have when dining there, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. On this occasion I had requested a table on the "window side" of the restaurant and the staff was able to grant that on a Saturday night, nice! The restaurant was smoky because of the open area kitchen, though, which includes (I believe) a brick oven, which meant our clothing smelled like cooked meat all night, even after many hours of being out and about.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location on the square.Great location on the square. We travel from Phoenix to Maine nearly every week and have been there 3 weeks out of the past 4 now. Yes, it's that good. And you're going to love the garlic and parmesan dusted rolls. The ambiance is intimate; the staff is impressively attentive; the menu is delightfully diverse; the atmosphere is unhurried and leisurely. Our dinners were prepared to perfection, though the presentation could have been a little more creative. (The restaurant is located at Monument Square, a 5-minutes walk to Merrill Auditorium.) We were cordially and competently treated by an experienced, informed server; we recognized her from earlier visits to David's and were flattered that she recognized us as well I had an unusual combination of excellent clam chowder and "meat pizza." My wife enjoyed her oysters, small salad, and mussels. She regularly orders a tuna offering at David's, but we wished to depart by 6:15, in time for a pre-concert lecture. All the staff who served us were friendly and efficient. The bread basket was delicious - hot and fresh with a tasty olive oil blend of herbs and cheeses. I had the lobster ravioli which was loaded with whole shrimp and scallops with chunks of lobster in and over the pasta. The sherry cream sauce was yummy. My sister got the mixed grill - sirloin, shrimp and scallops on a skewer, garlic mashed potatoes and snap peas. Gorgeous presentation and flavorful. Everything was cooked perfectly. Requested a corner table for our anniversary dinner and loved every aspect of the evening. Not a quiet place, so those looking for a quiet evening should be warned. Presentation of all meals was wonderful. The food was flavorful and delicious. We ordered dessert and they had already taken the time to decorate our dessert plates with Happy Anniversary in chocolate.
