A word from David's Opus Ten
David’s Opus Ten invites foodies and the food curious for an evening of culinary entertainment. The menu is a prix fixe multi-course tasting menu with optional wine pairings. The restaurant is located within David’s in Monument Square, making it an intimate restaurant within a restaurant. Guests select either a seven course menu for $55 or a nine course menu for $65.

The dining area features an elegant atmosphere with exposed brick walls, contemporary lighting and a chef’s table that seats two overlooking the kitchen for Opus Ten. Chef Turin and Chef Bo Byrne, who previously worked at David’s 388 in South Portland, create the menu, which changes frequently.

  • "We sat at the chef's table by the kitchen with a full view of the preparation of our (and other diners') dinner. We chatted with the chef throughout the dinner. This is a tasting menu, with paired wines for each course. It simply was one of the best meals we ever had, anywhere in the world. The dishes were inventive, without being exotic, and the food was exceptionally well prepared. In particular, the lobster and oyster first course was exceptional. Chef Bo was friendly, informative and very talented. Service by David was attentive, without being distracting, and he carefully informed us about the restaurant, the tasting menu and the wine pairings. In all, an exceptional experience."

  • "Sat at the chef's "counter table for two" facing the kitchen. One delicious dish after another paired with one lovely wine after another. Wine pairings are spot on--"reserve" pairings are worth the splurge, but "Opus 10" pairings also great (we got one of each so we could try everything). While somewhat subjective, portions of food and wine are precisely enough for a tasting menu--less would be skimpy and more would be too much--when you get to the 7th wine you realize that while you may have wanted more of wine #3 or #4 because it was soooo great, it would have ruined you for the rest. Service is warm and welcoming and we can't wait to return."

  • "Our server told us that she would pace the 7+ courses for us - and she did so perfectly. From sparkling to port, every pairing was superb - and we chose the lesser wines (we already knew most of the premium choices). Each course was a beautiful gem, and both of us ate the whole thing. Portions, of both wines and food, are reduced, but reduced to perfect. I was full after the brownie with flambé banana & ice cream, but not overstuffed. My favorite courses were the poached oyster & lobster served on the shell and the flawlessly flavored and cooked lamb medallion. We will be back every time the fixed menu changes... Noise level is a bit high because the servers explain every course, at every table. But we certainly learned a lot!"

  • "Did not know the restaurant's menu was a 7 course tasting menu that changes several times a year - absolutely great. They also offered paring a wine with each course. Some were better than others but overall very good. Presentation was superb. Did not feel rushed. There are only 6 tables so the ambience feels quite intimate. Would absolutely recommend to anyone. There was also a 7 course vegetarian version. Also, if you did not like a particular course, they would work with you to see what they had in lieu of. This was not an issue for us because all courses were very tempting and tasted great."

  • "David's Opus Ten does everything right. Upon entering this intimate 18-seat venue, you are asked for your coat. So begins the night of being taken care of from the moment you step in. We chose the 6-course Restaurant Week special and were treated to an extra 7th course to begin - cured meat and cheese from Spain on handmade crackers accompanied by some very nice olives. Then came the plates, perfectly timed. Each one was explained in detail by our waiter. The personalized service is not to be beat anywhere in town."

  • "The food was superb, the wine pairings were mostly on point. The setting is small and intimate. My one gripe is with the service; the servers (there were only two the night we dined) have the same points to talk about prior to each course, and because it's a small area we heard the exact same thing each time a table's course was brought out. It creates a stilted feel to the service; like calling a customer service center and having the agent read a script robotically. Once my husband and I managed to find some common ground with our server and struck up an actual conversation, the meal improved dramatically. But again, the food was fantastic. The next time we go, I'll be requesting the "bar" seating with a view of the meal prep!"

  • "Our server was as mush a part of our great experience as the food was. She described every ingredient in the dish, and how it was prepared. She did a great job on making us a specialty drink that she offered on her special cheese/drink cart. The only disappointment was that there was a very long wait between each course they served for this 9 course dinner. We understood this was going to be an evening of eating (one seating) but from the time we sat down till the time we left our table it took 3 1/2 hours. We didn't have an after dinner drink either. The food however was incredibly delicious and we loved that the chef came to our table to say hello and served one of the courses to us."
