Called me the day of my reservation to tell me its cash only, not really a big deal. Then there was an announcement on the same call of a fixed menu and everything was terrible. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! Since they are changing ownership or closing (really doesnt matter), they have been awful!

We had such high hopes for a lovely dinner in the North End...that was not to be. The ambience was dated and visually "cold". The food subpar, especially given the great meals we normally have in that area of Boston. We ordered a bottle of white wine, a red was brought over; when we reminded the waiter about our order he looked put-out and suggested the red would go with our meal as well. Finally we were told that the restaurant is in the process of being sold, the current owner had not expected to still be open, but decided to go ahead and serve since it was Valentine's Day. That explained a great deal!

Davide has been a staple in the North End for thirty years. Unfortunately the owners are going to retire. But contrary to belief they are still open through February so before they go I recommend you drop by because Places like this are not going to be found anymore with all these restaurants function an like chains . A must try is any of there home made pastas.

Such a wonderful dinner. I had the chicken and my friend had the mushroom risotto. Our server bent over backwards to help and even suggested options for my friend who needed gluten free options. So good. Whenever I am back in Boston, I will be visiting again,

Only a few tables had people Turning the corner out if advise the rest of the north end was full Please do not list their whole menu

It was their last weekend being opened, limited food menus, limited wine list, 1 waiter, literally 1. They actually turned away a large party with a reservation because they couldn't handle it. Very disappointing but good thing is they are now closed so nobody else needs to go thru it!

the biggest drawback to this excellent restaurant is the lack of valet parking. there are a number of parking lots in the immediate vicinity, however this is of no help during festival times (and there are many of those) or when any other events are scheduled nearby. Also, Davide's main competitors on Hanover street all provide Valet parking, and all things being equal it is simply easier to go to one of those.

The veal scallopini I ordered was uncooked, barely braised. I returned it and it came back edible, but still very tough. My daughter ordered the same, hers was thinner and less tough, but not very tasteful. My wife had a pesto chicken which was good.

Loved this restaurant! -downstairs, red leather semi circle booths, brick walls with some touches of contemporary lighting. We had Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which was delicious, fresh baked bread that the chef brought to our table and told us was "wicked hot" (only in Boston!!), caesar salad artfully made tableside, amazing handmade ravioli for a pasta course, and chicken for the main course. The olive oil served with the bread was stellar! The only reason I didn't give the meal a 5 is that the chicken breasts (both of ours) were a bit on the drier side. The polenta and spinach that accompanied the chicken were fabulous, as was all the other food. I would definitely go here again, but would probably stick to pasta for a main course.

One of the worst dining experiences ever. We ordered appetizers and drinks to begin - out of the 7 beers on their list they only had 3 of them available. The pizza was served with a burnt crust. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived (and left). They were out of Caesars Salad, along with 3 of the 4 items we ordered. One of my guest ordered the Chicken Dish and was served the Cornish Hen Entree without notice because they were out. NOT a restaurant I would recommend to anyone!

My wife and I went on a Friday night, about 6. Perfect timing, before any rush of customers came in. The waiter, Eddie, was great. Davide is in the North End but not in the middle of Hanover Street where everyone else goes. Do yourself a HUGE favor, don't just walk by Davide on your way to any place else .Please stop, go inside and look around. Absolutely beautiful. Have Eddie make you a Caesar Salad at your table, the best I have ever tried. One of the owners, Anthony, was there. If you get the chance to say hello do so. What a character, and I mean that in the best way possible, great guy. He even hailed a cab for us so we would get to the Rolling Stones concert on time....Give Davide a try, I promise you will go back again and again.

My boyfriend and I dined at Davide on a Friday night in May and were astounded to find that we were the only reservation there for the evening! We took our time and enjoyed a delicious scallop appetizer and bottle of chardonnay before enjoying our entrees. Everything was prepared perfectly and the service was very attentive. The interior and decor of the restaurant was romantic and charming. It was a bit curious that there was not a single other soul present, though this is likely due to the fact that Davide is located on the very outskirts of the North End. Overall our dining experience was intimate and lovely!

Setting: smaller restaurant in basement of building, an intimate set up. Went from quiet to noisy based on luck of who was in the small space with us. Food was good-to-very-good. One entree was average (lasagna), but rest of appetizers, entrees, and desserts were very good. Serive was mostly ordinary, but polite and helpful.

We chose this restaurant based on Saturday night availabliity in the North end on Open Book . We were greeted by a nice staff, although they forgot to take a drink order until we actually ordered dinner. The place really could use a little more atmosphere to warm it up given the below ground/chilly environment - some candles/flowers would make a huge difference. The food was good, however, you kind of get the impression that the place is struggling a bit - worn menues, predictable and sparse menue selection etc... A few adjustments could make this place a repeat pefromer.

We went to Davide on a cold, rainy Tuesday,a week after the Boston Bombing. It's below ground level made for a warm, cozy dinner setting. When we arrived, here were only a few other diners, which made for an intimate, romantic evening. Loved the mix of music. We were given bread with WONDERFUL dipping oil. We decided to share a salad - good choice because it was huge- more than enough for two.Our meals were served piping hot. The Chioppino contained an generous amount of seafood. My Satler chicken was crispy on the outside, moist and tasty.Part way through our meal a large party arrived.Since Davide is larger than most North End eateries, they were seated in a separate room and we weren't disturbed in the least

I have been there several times; this time I was disappointed to find that on Tuesday of this week they had a wine and five course matched tasting and they were still serving several of the same courses that were left over, on Saturday. I learned this after I had ordered and eaten. While there was reasonable taste, the pasta torte puffed pastry was slightly stale, the papadelle was for the first time a pasta that was made days earlier with a ragu that was served top of what appeared to be a simple marinara sauce. Salmon was removed from the menu another disappointment. The service was reasonable only because the Maitre d was vigilant. The wines were enjoyable from the Tuesday affair. They matched well with the courses we had from Tues.

I was underwhelmed. The food was had good texture and was nicely presented but lacking in taste which I had to accentuate with more than a sprinkle of salt (I had the cod dish, by the way). This was my first visit (i'm an out-of-towner) and so I would not delete it from my lists of restaurants to go to in Boston but i wouldn't go out of my way to return there.

We were a family of 4 visiting Boston on vacation. We shared 2 appetizers - the Bruschette with prosciutto, fig jam, and goat cheese and Stuzzico ( capicola, prosciutto, salami, fresh mozzarella). Both appetizers were delicious! I had the Tagliatelle with shrimp and preserved lemon, my husband had the Cacciucco, and the kids (age 16 and 14) had the Pappardelle with the short rib ragu. The pastas were perfectly cooked al dente. You could taste the quality of these handmade, homemade pastas. The sauces were nicely balanced in flavor. The Cacciucco had a good portion of different seafood and the broth was fantastic. We shared 3 desserts - the cannoli, the limoncello cake and the tiramisu. All of the desserts were excellent.

We celebrated my birthday at Davide's and happened to be there during Boston's Restaurant week. Their menu selection and wine pairing was excellent value and delicious. Tables are not close together, so plenty of privacy even if the restaurant was full. Fresh produce and ample portions too! Great personal service! We were there on a Sunday night, so not the busy Saturday night scene. I would suggest going there on the "off nights" if you want that individual attention. Also, great walking location to Fairmont Battery Wharf if you happen to be staying the night.

Davide is a cute little Italian restaurant with a cozy and intimate ambiance. Usually the food is great: the bread is fantastic, the appetizers are delicious. I rated this restaurant "good" overall because the visit to this previous Kitchen Nightmares restaurant was odd. Why was it odd?.....we were the first customers at 5:30PM on a Sunday with only 6 tables seated by the time we left at 8:00, no candles on tables, chilly inside, only one front of house person: host, waiter, bartender, food runner, busboy all in one - kind of a comedy show. The really nice waiter knew what he was doing and he was trying so hard. Our appetizer special (mozzarella and prosciutto with oil, balsamic) and caesar salad was delicious. We shared the lasagna which was good, but nothing amazing. I can't say anything bad, I just can't say great either, walked away not knowing what to make of the place.

Great food in a quiet downstairs setting. Went on a Saturday night and, while crowds of people milled outside the other North end Italian restaurants on Hanover Street, waiting for a table to open, Davide's was available and served delicious food just a short walk away. My wife started with an awesome salad-- big chunk of fresh burrata served over sliced beets. I had the mussels, cooked in a thick tomato-based broth. Light and wonderful. For entrees, we had the veal scallopine and an off-the-menu special of s seafood stew. Both were great.
