DavideHidden SurpriseWe went to Davide on a cold, rainy Tuesday,a week after the Boston Bombing. It's below ground level made for a warm, cozy dinner setting. When we arrived, here were only a few other diners, which made for an intimate, romantic evening. Loved the mix of music. We were given bread with WONDERFUL dipping oil. We decided to share a salad - good choice because it was huge- more than enough for two.Our meals were served piping hot. The Chioppino contained an generous amount of seafood. My Satler chicken was crispy on the outside, moist and tasty.Part way through our meal a large party arrived.Since Davide is larger than most North End eateries, they were seated in a separate room and we weren't disturbed in the least4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful service! Had aWonderful service! Had a really time talking with the staff. Very friendly and kind! Thanks for a great night!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, Classic, ItalianWe were a family of 4 visiting Boston on vacation. We shared 2 appetizers - the Bruschette with prosciutto, fig jam, and goat cheese and Stuzzico ( capicola, prosciutto, salami, fresh mozzarella). Both appetizers were delicious! I had the Tagliatelle with shrimp and preserved lemon, my husband had the Cacciucco, and the kids (age 16 and 14) had the Pappardelle with the short rib ragu. The pastas were perfectly cooked al dente. You could taste the quality of these handmade, homemade pastas. The sauces were nicely balanced in flavor. The Cacciucco had a good portion of different seafood and the broth was fantastic. We shared 3 desserts - the cannoli, the limoncello cake and the tiramisu. All of the desserts were excellent.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDavide is a cute little ItalianDavide is a cute little Italian restaurant with a cozy and intimate ambiance. Usually the food is great: the bread is fantastic, the appetizers are delicious. However, the entree I ordered was not that much different from the usual pasta with red sauce. They do make their own pasta, which is always of the highest quality, but this time around it fell just a little short.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated my birthdayWe celebrated my birthday at Davide's and happened to be there during Boston's Restaurant week. Their menu selection and wine pairing was excellent value and delicious. Tables are not close together, so plenty of privacy even if the restaurant was full.
Fresh produce and ample portions too! Great personal service! We were there on a Sunday night, so not the busy Saturday night scene. I would suggest going there on the "off nights" if you want that individual attention.
Also, great walking location to Fairmont Battery Wharf if you happen to be staying the night.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in a quiet downstairsGreat food in a quiet downstairs setting. Went on a Saturday night and, while crowds of people milled outside the other North end Italian restaurants on Hanover Street, waiting for a table to open, Davide's was available and served delicious food just a short walk away.
My wife started with an awesome salad-- big chunk of fresh burrata served over sliced beets. I had the mussels, cooked in a thick tomato-based broth. Light and wonderful. For entrees, we had the veal scallopine and an off-the-menu special of s seafood stew. Both were great.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always great food, authenticAs always great food, authentic italian dining. One of the North End's best restaurants that has been around for many many years!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDavide was a great restaurant.Davide was a great restaurant. The service was wonderful. The owner /manager was very helpful in helping us pick great wine and menu items. There isn't a bad choice because everything we had was very good and I'm sure the rest of the menu was just as good so I am not going to tell you each item. All I'm going to say go find this hidden gem a little bit off the main drag in the North End . You will be happy you went3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
