The first chef to own his own bull, Chef David Burke's commitment to quality is evident in the USDA prime grade, hand-selected beef served in David Burke's Primehouse. The restaurant dry-ages its meats in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. The result is perfectly marble-ized, tender beef with a rich depth of flavor. Tours of this unique facility can be arranged upon reservation.

Diner Reviews
  • "The food was excellent, some of the best steaks you'll find. The donuts are an amazing dessert. But expect to pay top dollar."

  • "Whenever I'm in the mood for a good steak, I can always count on David Burke's Primehouse. I usually opt for the 40-Day Ribeye. Perfect portion for a guy and always packed full of flavor. Can't to wrong with DB's Primehouse!"

  • "Everything was excellent, the steak is the best of chicago and the asiago truffle fries are very particular. The best."

  • "We did our homework and this place was rated best in Chicago for steaks. I've been to many a steakhouse across this great nation and couldn't have left DB more disappointed. The service was very bad. In attentive, slow, aggressive waiter. Spent $75 for a single steak, 45 day dry aged. I'm ok with spending that much on quality meat but the taste was bland and uninteresting. Mashed potato side I swear were instant Betty Crocker. Very disappointed. Noise level is off the charts. Forget small talk. Couldn't leave there fast enough. Many much better options in the area."

  • "Perfect for celebrating a special occassion or trying aged meat."

  • "My wife and I had reservations here for my birthday. We were seated promptly. I had the 55 day ribeye and my wife had the forty day. We both felt they were the best steaks we've ever had. The service was excellent and the sides were pretty good, we thought. But the emphasis are the steaks here and we felt this place was well worth the expense."

  • "Lamb chops were wonderful, 55 day aged ribeye was borderline overcooked, lobstertail was way overcooked, while the claws were raw and gelatinous (gross). Cream spinach was cold. Mark-up on the wine list ridiculous; 100% is OK, 200% is not) Waiter while attentive at first, never came back to see if everything was OK. Bus staff almost hovering to clear dishes, seems their only goal is just to get people out so they can turn the table. Dessert was fabulous. For $250 for the 2 of us (I only had a glass of wine instead of a bottle) I would have had a better experience elsewhere."

  • "David Burke's prides itself on its dry-aged steaks, and that modifier is important. The dry-aged steaks are delicious. Different from standard steaks, for sure -- extremely beefy, complex flavors, absolutely delicious, but different from what you'd get at another steakhouse. The bacon stick is wonderful. The tableside caesar salad may have been my favorite part of the meal. I had no idea salad could be so delicious and so compelling. I got mine a little spicy, and I couldn't get enough of it. Also, get the cake in a can -- it's also made tableside and is wonderful. Can't wait to return!"

  • "I guess I must not be a fan of aged beef as I found the Ribeye to be a bit dry! Maybe because I've never had a steak that aged! Still tasty but not as tender as expected"

  • "My wife and I found this restaurant through a list of top twenty steakhouses in Chicago. David 's was listed as #1, so we decided to see if it would live up to review. We had two different steaks, both prepared the way we asked and both we great and unique flavors. On top of the great food was even better service. Our server was friendly and helpful, socialized with us and some helpful advice for drinks after dinner. We were celebrating our anniversary and I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. We look forward to coming back."

  • "Their steak is so good. It reminds me why the marbling is so special. We started with their bacon pops, which are amazing. But the steak blows my mind. I dint get why you would ever go to Morton's or Gibson's when you have David Burke's and Maestros for basically the same price point."

  • "Staff were better dressed than patrons who wore mostly T shirts + shorts (it was a steamy night and they looked like tourists: lots of children and bags). I'd have preferred a quieter, more serious ambiance, so we could truly attend to the wonderful food and service. We were celebrating my son's 29th birthday, pleased to get all dressed up, and very pleased at all our choices and the fab wine suggestions our server made. He was such a professional that we all took note and sat up straight to enjoy the time in spite of the too-casual loud patrons around us. The staff and steak as well as veggies and wine are the best we've experienced as a family."

  • "David Burkes had amazing steaks. My husband and I tried the 40 day and 55 day aged steaks and they were both delicious. Also, the Caesar salad made table side was the best We've ever had. I would definitely go back again and bring friends to enjoy the experience. The service was great as well! We were too full for dessert but I'm sure the desserts are amazing too."

  • "Order the 28 day Ribeye--was a delicious steak--best value on the menu!"

  • "Food was good but too expensive for the overall experience. There have be to be better steak houses in Chicago for less money. Waiter was arrogant and flippant. When the medium priced wine we ordered was unavailable, he suggested a $200 bottle as an alternative! Very noisy."

  • "Everything from the appetizer down to dessert was absolutely delicious!"

  • "I have been to numerous steakhouses throughout the country, but this is my new favorite. The food was excellent, the waiter attentive, and the service was quick and efficient. The waiter made some suggestions but was not pushy. I have been to many steakhouses where they bring out a cart to present the cuts of meat. This is not done here, which is fine with me. The ambient noise level is high; therefore, I would not choose this as a romantic getaway spot. I could definitely tell the difference in the longer aged cuts. Go long - it is worth the experience and cost."

  • "Steaks were great but cost was high can't taste the difference between the 55 day old steak and our local steaks at half the price."

  • "The restaurant came highly recommended and it exceeded all expectations. The steaks and side selections were outstanding, came perfectly prepared and had fantastic flavors. The staff were professional, attentive and provided the exact amount of attention without making themselves "part" of the experience. Special mention must be given to our waitress, Jennifer, who provided excellent, excellent service; she's a gem. Would not hesitate recommending the restaurant or returning with clients for any occasion."

  • "As the number 1 Chicago steakhouse, I was expecting "melt in your mouth" but this restaurant failed."
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "I dined here Sunday night with my wife and 2 small children. Kids menu allows many "grown-up" options, while on the adult side...the 55 day aged rib-eye is the best steak I've ever had. I felt this way since I've last dined here (3 years ago) and I was a little apprehensive to return as I didn't want to sully the memory. So glad I did come back, the steaks remain top notch and the service walked the line perfectly between attentiveness but not overbearing. The sides are very good, vegetables were rather plain which is fine with me because the steak is the star here. Finished the meal by taking a tour of the room where the beef is aged, which was a great ending to a perfect night!"

  • "Heard about this Resturant on TV. Looked great. Read mixed reviews but decided to try it. Overal we had better $75 meals. Our meal was $210. Will try a different place next time in Chicago and cannot justify recommending this place. Waited 2 years to give it a shot. Much less than expected."

  • "I was in Chicago for the weekend with my significant other and we went to David Burke's Primehouse for dinner. It was Fantastic! The food was delicious and the service was excellent as well. I highly recommend this restaurant to people wanting a great meal!"

  • "Steak melts in your mouth and the red velvet cake is the moistest I've ever had"

  • "For a restaurant that bills itself as a steak place, I was disappointed. Kansa cut, "aged" was tough. My wife's filet was tasteless. Even more disappointed when I got the check. Service was fantastic."
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "First the service was horrible. Server was pushy & rude. The food was just as disappointing. I had the 44 day Ribeye & my Fiancé had the Kansas City Strip. Both were bland & not seasoned properly; Both overcooked to where they were inedible and tough. I know a dry aged steak will have the appearance of being overcooked but these were well done. Side dishes were not correct & we ended up having 4 sides on our table once corrected. Again Mushrooms unseasoned, Mash Potatoes were cold and the incorrect sides went untouched. In the end we ate 4 bites of our steak & sent it back & the Manager did Comp the Steaks. David Burkes should be an experience, a special occasion that you would think will exude perfection, however not this time."

  • "This was my second time at this restaurant. My experience both times was very consistent. The food is excellent. And the service is phenomenal. The sides and other offerings complement the steak nicely. A very enjoyable dining experience!"

  • "The 75-aged beef was amazing, but the service was even better. The also not-so-common menu items of a tea menu is outstanding."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "I was looking forward to this meal for a long time and it did not disappoint. I expected a good steak but we also had amazing and creative appetizers and desserts. Bravo! I would highly recommend. Of course the 55 day dry aged Ribeye was out of this world."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Our server, Kevin, was great throughout the night. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, and not once were we unattended to. The 55 day dry aged ribeye was amazing. It truly was one of the best steaks I've ever had, and I spend a lot of time cooking up dry aged steaks and other fine cuts of meat at home as well as dining out. Our appetizer, which consisted of two giant cocktail shrimp, half of a lobster tail, and a HUGE amount of lump crab meat, was a great start to the meal, as well. The fact that they dry age their own steaks on the premises only adds to the allure for me."

  • "Tempura green beans are amazing. Steaks were superb. Declined dessert since we were so full but server decided my husband needed a cake for his birthday. Additionally server brought out fabulous donuts that were nice and hot-add the caramel directly into the donuts and we were hooked."
    Dined on 8/5/2014
  • "I ordered a 40 day aged steak and macaroni & cheese as a side. The mac & cheese was about the same quality as you get out of a box. The steak was good but grossly overpriced at $60 for 12 ounces. The waiter was a train wreck. He forgot about us most of the evening, leaving us to repeatedly ask the maitre-d for assistance."

  • "If you are really into steaks, aging processes of meat, and have some $$ to spend - this is the place for you. As often with Burke's restaurants, he takes great pride in his food. This place is totally about the food and service. No extra frills here, don't expect mood lighting or music, it's all about the steak. Took my boyfriend's parents and they enjoyed it tremendously; we all ate till we almost burst! Lots of food for the buck. They also took care of the little one (7yr old picky eater, who actually enjoyed her 3 oz filet mignon!)"

  • "I was very impressed by the attention the staff here paid to our table. Everything was brought out very promptly and cleaned up just as quickly as we were finished. The food was very pleasing as well, although, one of our 2 steaks was over cooked it was still very flavorful. The prices seemed a little steep at first and to be honest even after dinner was over I felt we spent a little much on the food itself. The appetizer of scallops was very small, but made up for the size in flavor. For 2 people including 1 drink each, shared an appetizer, and 2 steaks it cost me $188 plus tip. We were given a free slice of cake in celebration of our first trip out of town alone without our 7 month old child which was nice. Phenomenal waiter!"

  • "I had the 40-day ribeye medium rare as recommended when I typically have my steaks medium rare plus to medium. I'm very happy to say I went with the recommendation because it was superb! One of the best steaks, if not the best steak, I've had. Looking forward to trying the 55-day ribeye next time I'm in Chicago. I highly recommend the restaurant."
