A word from David Burke Kitchen
Critically acclaimed chef David Burke focuses on locally-sourced, modern American food presented in the whimsical style that is his trademark. His menu emphasizes the highest quality vegetables, sustainable fish, beef and game birds. The restaurant’s spaces are designed by James Beard Award-winner Thomas Schlesser. The Treehouse Bar features seating that offers a birds-eye view of the bustling street below. There, you can enjoy handcrafted cocktails with pizzas, flatbreads, spreads and homemade sweet and savory snacks. Downstairs, the loft-like space is divided into a bar and dining room. The open kitchen and glass-enclosed wine cave allow guests a peek behind the scenes. Burke’s theatrical style is reflected in the carving station, where meats are carved and whole-roasted fish, lobster and casseroles are plated in the center of the dining room. David Burke Kitchen’s unparalleled outdoor space, opening in time for spring, has its own bar and seating for 130.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Creative cuisine in a cool atmosphere. Expensive, but very high quality. Pretentious and overpriced wine list, and in the absence of a sommelier, the server wasn't able to talk knowledgeably about the wine. "

  • "Was really excited to check out this top rated Soho "Farm to Table" restaurant. The food was inventive, but really lacked flavor. My Pork Chop was over cooked and dry. "

  • "We had a great night at Kitchen the other day. We went for a wine and dinner pairing, we had messed up the reservation, reserved the downstairs instead of upstairs for the event, but the manager took care of us and got us in to the event! This has been my experience whenever I go to the David Burke restaurants, they always go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is always delicious, traditional dishes with their own unique twist. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "We went on a Monday night for the burger night only to know that's been cancelled a month ago. They had a burger and beer special and since we already were interested in trying their burgers in the first place we decided to go ahead with the dinner. The gas was nice and even offered to have that in their treehouse terrace but since it was chilly we preferred to stay at the restaurant. The burgers came and unfortunately were dry and the beer was awful. The only thing we enjoyed was the pretzel crump crab cakes and bread which was fresh and yummy. The waiter was a bit creepy and art he end of the dinner got us the bill before we even ask for it. "

  • "We chose David Burke Kitchen on a whim because it was close to our hotel (Soho / Tribeca) and looked nice. We were thrilled to discover a very nice restaurant with amazing staff and great food. We'll certainly return!"

  • "Having dined in Rumson NJ at Fromagerie and thoroughly enjoyed it...my expectations were high for the evening. Unfortunately for David Burke Kitchen I left not wanting to return. The menu lacked descriptions like the presence of a sinus clearing wasabi on the prosciutto flatbread. One of my friends ordered the $55 ribeye and could not even enjoy her meal because she could not cut it with the dull knife she was given.I switched knives with her and still found it difficult to cut my just okay pork chop. We ordered the monkey bread for 2. which realistically is not for 2 at all but 4 easily. this was not monkey bread at all. no bananas. no ooey gooey stickyness. it was bread with a little caramel. very disappointing."

  • "Had their pre-fix lunch with a friend. Everything was absolutely delicious, although the desserts we had were a little sub-par to the rest of the meal."

  • "Used to frequent this restaurant. Definitely not my choice anymore. Inept service, bland food. There are so many restaurants in NYC that people should give it a shot. It's neither one for the foodie, nor a bargain in general. It's not fine dining and absolutely not comfort food to boot. No satisfaction from this dining experience"

  • "I'll cut to the point - the waitress served our coffee in paper cups because they "ran out of mugs". When asked when do you think they'll have mugs (because we were willing to wait 20 more minutes) she said "maybe next week". Really? Was I having brunch at a Starbucks?? My wife ordered the grilled chicken BLT, and they forgot to put the avocado in it. When we asked for it we received a tiny little thing with a singe teaspoon-full avocado in it. Seemed awfully cheap and definitely not what you'd expect. It's not a terrible place, I'll admit that my pork belly hash was not bad, and the maitre d was very nice, but this is definitely not the type of experience I was expecting from a David Burke restaurant."

  • "Prior to this last visit, I had gone to David Burke Kitchen for Restaurant Week. The food was fantastic, fresh and savory. On this past occasion however, the food tasted like it was re-heated. Both times I ordered the pork chop. The first time, it was moist, easy to cut and simply delicious. The second time it was tough, flavorless and dry. I've been to other David Burke's throughout the city and usually have a good time. Perhaps it was an off night."

  • "Have to say this was one of the best meals I've had in my entire life (and I eat out a lot, but have never provided a review on a restaurant before…) Every course was beautiful, full of flavor, from appetizers all the way through dessert. We loved every course (check out the bacon-wrapped dates, soup with lobster.) There were four of us there celebrating a special occasion and we ended up tasting each other's courses right up through dessert because the food was so stunningly delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting New York city or wanting a meal for a special occasion. The service was impeccable, sommelier was right on the mark with the wine recommendation. I would come back to David Burke Kitchen in a heartbeat."

  • "We were very impressed with the food overall and will definitely be back. We were not rushed at all through dinner and our waitress was extremely pleasant. I had the pork chop and my partner had the wild striped bass. When dining here though, please note that no sides come with your food so it's best to order a few side dishes. And, I say a few side dishes because the sides themselves are very small."

  • "Recent dining experience at David Burke Kitchen with a friend was overall enjoyable but didn't quite measure up to what I was expecting. To be fair though, it depends what sort of food you like. All the food had good flavors but it was all a bit too much for me - too intense, too strong, too large. I left feeling a bit heavy. I prefer more delicate food with great flavor but done in a lighter style. One noteable thing was the carrots that came with the bread to start - infused with great spices. It was a busy, buzzing atmosphere which was quite fun. Seating quite tight though. Wine list was extensive but could do with some slightly more affordable options."

  • "An excellent brunch with great friends! Splurge and get the deviled eggs and bread selection for the table, you won't be disappointed. It's pricey but the service was impeccable and the food was outstanding."

  • "We loved this place. Even our 3-year-old budding foodie loved it. The cauliflower au gratin was amazing, the peanut butter bacon dates, the fish, the whole menu including the homemade ice cream and sorbets, delicious. Great service. We loved it."

  • "Absolutely love this place! restaurant week(which is an absolute must) We just keep going back !outstanding food, mouth watering cocktails, great ambiance, &amazing well educated staff. Favorite drinks-the grand tzar & the honey badger . menu. . Favorites are crispy oysters, pretzel crusted crab cake (a must try),& my absolute favorite is the short ribs!! It literally melt in your mouth, & the truffle mousse makes you want to lick the plate.Ive never tried anything on the menu I didn't like. Kale salad is also great. The monkey bread is something you will never forget. It says for 2 but it's really for 3 or 4. His maple pecan ice cream is the best I've ever had! Crunch bar is also wonderful. Decent size &perfect combination of flavors. A gem"

  • "Nicely decorated, food was fantastic. Came here for early sunday brunch, was seated right awy. i had Braised short rib was so good but my gf had filet mignon that was ok. Their hazelnut cake was also delicious. Would def come back."

  • "I had brunch here twice for special occasions with different people. The menu is varied and extremely interesting. The kale salad was a hit both times. In the warmer weather I plan to back and dine outside, so far I've only been there during winter months. The wait staff is knowledgable and helpful about the menu and beverage selection. I plan to go back, for brunch, dinner and in warmer months, try the Treehouse,"

  • "The food was really great but took a while to come. It felt like everyone else's dishes were coming out a lot faster than ours."

  • "Dinner here was much anticipated but drinks, although good, were over priced and steak was grisly and not cooked evenly. We had to send it back to get the very rare center to med-rare. The prawn dish was great beef cheek ravioli was excellent but the ship were a bit over done. Our experience was good and staff quite pleasant, however they are gear to clear the table...even taking my husband's Un finished cocktail while he wasn't looking. At the price of the drink this did not please him. The manager was very nice to make up for the transgressions."

  • "Each course is thoughtfully prepared and has such depth of flavor that you cannot help but talk about your meal. The crab cake appetizer is all crab with a slaw for texture in a deep fried pretzel log cabin. Amazing. All the entrees were equally exceptional. Any choice would be a good one. I would suggest the rib eye or short rib. My first bite of the rib eye just oozed with deep steak flavor that other people at my table remarked at how elated my face became. The short rib is also a favorite. The short rib is braised to perfection and sits onto of hand made pasta. For dessert, Monkey bread. It's delightful, playful and everyone will squeal like little kids while you eat it. The cheesecake lollipop tree is also a good choice."

  • "My experience at David Burke Kitchen was fantastic. I was there as a group of 6 on a Friday evening. Even with the dinner rush our service was excellent. The manager, as well as our waiter, were charming, attentive and generous. The food was exquisite and I would definitely recommend the fried oysters, veal skirt steak and escargot 'ants on a log'. Beautiful food aside, we were very impressed with the manager's ability to personally watch our table, and make sure our every need was attended too. I definitely look forward to going back soon."

  • "Prix fixe lunch is a great deal for $25 for 3 courses-90% of menu is on the prix fixe. David Burke makes the best salmon in the world. Delicious cinnamon apple tartes. We also liked the escargot fritters. Great service. We really liked the ginger-baby carrots"

  • "My husband and I had an outstanding experience in the Treehouse Bar at David Burke Kitchen. The place was modern, but cool and warm all at the same time, and had window views reminiscent of Tokyo. The service was professional and friendly yet unobtrusive--just the why we like it. As for the offerings, most regular menu items were available on the restaurant week prix fixe menu, which was a real treat. We shared our food selections: roasted beet salad, tuna & salmon tartare, short rib, and lamb, all of which were so unbelievably yummy that neither of us could pick just one favorite. And, just when we thought our experience couldn't get much better, we had the special monkey bread for two, which our taste buds and minds got lost in--WOW!"

Beaucoup d'autres resto à New York moins prétentieux, moins chers et bien meilleurs."

  • "The presentation of each dish was flawless! Especially the table-side presentation and preparation of the monkey bread. Each dish was so flavorful and definitely lived up to all expectations... I would definitely recommend this restaurant to fellow foodies and will be back for sure! A true dining experience that was artistic and appealing to the five senses."

  • "I went to David Burke Kitchen for NYC Restaurant Week and we had a great time. I found the menu to be extensive for most NYCRW restaurants. The Pretzel Crusted Crab Cake and the Short Rib were excellent dishes! For dessert, I ordered the passion fruit creme brulee and though the first couple of bites were delicious, the very tart taste from the passion fruit made it difficult to finish the dish. An added benefit is that each course was extremely generous in proportion. The only caution I would give is about the drinks, cocktails and glasses of wine started at $16+ which can make a bill stack up easily, even during RW. Otherwise, I would absolutely recommend the restaurant and will definitely be going back again next NYCRW."

  • "Loud. This is what takes away from the Ambience, special occasion, romantic and special occasion ratings. You can't hear your romantic partner. Can't converse with friends. Well, the food was great. The crabcake, the fig & peanut butter and kale appetizers were quite good. The Short Rib, the Swordfish Paella and the Chicken Targine were terrific. Beautifully presented and delicious. Beers were good. Desserts were not tempting to us. Too complicated for our palates, but may appeal to others."

  • "I was searching for a good place to eat and soho and this place is amazing!!! From outside it doesn't look like much (even though it has a great dine area terrace) but inside it's great! I did make a reservation so we didn't have to wait. But I notice people were sitted quickly! We sat down and I ordered the restaurant week special with kale salad as an appetizer, short ribs with mushrooms as main and rocky ice cream dessert! The kale salad was more like the main dish- it was big!!! The main dish was small but filling, and the dessert was caramel-chocolate-brownie-vanilla goodness topped with chocolate!!!! Yummy!!! Definitely a keeper and I am definitely coming back as soon as I can!!! Oh, and the service is great!"
