A word from David Burke Kitchen
Critically acclaimed chef David Burke focuses on locally-sourced, modern American food presented in the whimsical style that is his trademark. His menu emphasizes the highest quality vegetables, sustainable fish, beef and game birds. The restaurant’s spaces are designed by James Beard Award-winner Thomas Schlesser. The Treehouse Bar features seating that offers a birds-eye view of the bustling street below. There, you can enjoy handcrafted cocktails with pizzas, flatbreads, spreads and homemade sweet and savory snacks. Downstairs, the loft-like space is divided into a bar and dining room. The open kitchen and glass-enclosed wine cave allow guests a peek behind the scenes. Burke’s theatrical style is reflected in the carving station, where meats are carved and whole-roasted fish, lobster and casseroles are plated in the center of the dining room. David Burke Kitchen’s unparalleled outdoor space, opening in time for spring, has its own bar and seating for 130.Continued

  • "Food was great, service was attentive. Wine was great."

  • "My college buddy and I are serious foodies and frequent a lot of restaurants in NYC. David Burke Kitchen made our top 5 best restaurant list. We gave it high marks in all categories(food, service, ambience and crowd)."

  • "The deco in the restaurant is awesome too... If only it is not on that so west wing of Soho!"

  • "excellent food and good service. Great menu for restaurant week although too many upcharges for certain items."

  • "Wonderful restaurant-week menu (although too many dishes had surcharges). But the quality of the food was very good, and the much-hyped cheesecake lollipops are worth the price of admission. Music was a litle loud for dinner, though--maybe some nice ‘40s jazz?"

  • "Best short rib ever! Everything should be topped with truffle moose!"

  • "Service was great, informative attentive and suggestion. Food was great and the space was nice outdoors as well as indoors"

  • "Having tried a few restaurants this week for Restaurant Week, this was by far the best restaurant. The food was very good, the ambiance nice (chic-farmhouse vibe), and the service EXCELLENT!! Our server was WONDERFUL!! Great value for restaurant week!!"

  • "My husband and I went to David Burke Kitchen to celebrate a special occasion. It happened that this fell during restaurant week. We were happy to find that DBK is not one of those restaurants that gives you a restaurant week experience that is really just a tiny sample of their real food. Instead, they give you a great set of choices. We also had cocktails and wine, and the selections were superb (if expensive...expect to spend $15–$20 for a GLASS of wine). The only potential down side was the noise level. The acoustics definitely leave every plate movement and every conversation echoing around the restaurant. Great if you're up for a festive atmosphere, not so great if you want an intimate dining experience. We will definitely come back."

  • "Fantastic restaurant week - extremely attentive service and amazing food. Started with the pretzel encrusted crab cake - declared the winning appetizer at our table - while friends enjoyed the tuna and salmon tartar and lobster ravioli. For the entree I ended up with the short rib and truffle-infused pasta. I thought the short rib was fabulous but we all decided the real winner was the pork chop."

  • "We were delighted with the lunch which was highly recommended by friends. The food was well prepared and presented and was enjoyed by all in our party of four. The server was very attentive and made our meal quite pleasant. We will return."

  • "Enjoyed a very good lunch with co worker. We decided to bump up the fee for restaurant week by upgrading choices."

  • "We went during restaurant week to see if this new DB lives up to the great dining experiences we have had at other DB venues. Not so! The room (in a semi basement) is ultra modern and cold - all hard surfaces. The noise level was unbearable - reinforced by the constant booming of the non descript music in the background. My first course was (octopus) was overcooked and hard although the taste and accompaniments were very good. The main course (Salmon) again was overcooked and without much flavor. Dessert, usually my favorite course, was a Trifle parfait. This was the worst Trifle I have ever tasted! The whipped cream was too thick, there was little fruit (pineapple) and a very dry biscuit. My other diners had similar experience."

  • "We came here for restaurant week. The food was good but service haphazard and rushed. Many of the restaurant week items had surcharges which defeats the restaurant week purpose. We waited a long time for drinks, A pre appetizer had been ordered as well. The drinks finally came, along with all 3 appetizers, one of which was the wrong item. The food tasted as though it had been sitting out for awhile. My guess is that they anticipate that people will order certain things and make them ahead of the actual order. The pretzel crusted crab cake (surcharge) was overcooked. The lobster BLT entree (surcharge) was good. The desserts were nice but a bit cloyingly sweet. We had the hazelnut crunch and some sort of blueberry lime sorbet."

  • "This was my 3rd time to David Burke Soho, and while I love all of his restaurants, I was disappointed by the service this time. As a former waitress for the Four Seasons, I understand that the tips that waiter might receive during Restaurant week are not as high a usual, however that CANNOT impact behavior towards guests. We felt rushed, in that servings came out at the pace of a Thai restaurant and picked up, so the overall experience was not the same. As an aside the food was great and the hostess accommodated us even though I accidentally had the wrong date. Overall, I will return, but am writing this review in hopes that this flaw is noticed and fixed."

  • "Food here was fantastic which is no surprise for a David Burke restaurant. Little cramped - waitress for the table next to us bumped into my shoulder and I could smell the cologne of the gentleman to my other side. Server was a slightly despondent, almost going through the motions. I would assume they hate restaurant week because their tips decrease due to math and percentages. I overtipped despite his lackluster attitude. But beyond all that minutia, the food was just fantastic as were the cocktails."

  • "somehow a table 4 2 during restaurant week with a $75 bottle of wine cost $200 due 2 supplements...ridiculous...the dessert inedible...the main course barely edible...the crab cake was delish...didn't finish main course and didn't touch but 1 bite of dessert...the service was only good thing about dinner DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHEN"

  • "This is by far the best restaurant week dining experience I've had in NYC! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! I'm certainly coming back in the future, even if it's not restaurant week."

  • "Went for restaurant week, food was awesome. Portions were large, I went home with leftovers. Most restaurant week participants seem to skimp on portion size, that did not seem to be the case for DBK. The market salad was awesome and big, short rib was very tasty. Desserts were good too but the main course and appetizer were the highlight of the meal. Would go back for sure!"

  • "We went for restaurant week. The menu was extensive compared to many other restaurants who participated during that week. And the food here was amazing. Every dish our table received was a great surprise and full of flavor."

  • "I'm disappointed with my experience. I went for restaurant week, and it was blatant that the food had been sitting under a heat lamp. Although it was good, it wasn't great to know that the food had been sitting waiting for a customer to eat. Also, the added prices per dish was unnecessary. Ten dollars extra for a main course? Almost 30 dollars extra for steak? It almost defeats the purpose of restaurant week. Additionally, we were seat on the upstairs concourse. Although it was nice, we were seated on fold out chairs.. rather than in the proper dining room. On the upstairs level, there was one server for over 12 tables. Oh well..."

  • "We began with cocktails, I had the Grand Tsar and it was wonderfully refreshing. With dinner we had a Pinot Noir, that worked very well with our dinners. As appetizers we had DB's Pretzel Crusted Crab Cake and the Parfait of Tuna and Salmon Tartare, then he had DB's Salt Brick Beef (AMAZING!) and I had the Branzino, again DELICIOUS! For dessert we had Toffee Monkey Bread for Two, happy in our food coma we wobbled home... :)"

  • "Restaurant week menu is great although there are a lot of supplements for the nicer dishes. Great happy prices which extend to certain bar food items."

  • "We'd been there for lunch, which was quiet and peaceful.Dinner was noisy and frenetic. To our surprise, the check appeared right after dessert. Even if they needed to turn the table, an extra ten minutes would have been appreciated."

  • "We went for restaurant week and pretty much everything had a supplemental add on - kind of a rip off and the food was not that great"

  • "Four of us had a delightful lunch during Restaurant Week. Wonderful ambience, delicious food, excellent service -- a wonderful 'find.'"

  • "We were here once before when there was no one in the restaurant, and couldn't get anyone's attention. This time it was packed due to restaurant week. There were a lot of choices for a prix fixe menu which was good. The techno music was deafening, pulsing and certainly not conducive to a nice dinner. The second time we asked the music was turned down. Unfortunately, they appeared to be understaffed. However, the hostess made a gallant effort to clear the tables. I am afraid the food was not memorable, and we won't be back."

  • "After seeing David Burke and his culinary creations on Top Chef Masters, I was so excited to try his food when in New York for restaurant week. It certainly did not disappoint. The food was delicious. The portions were generous, each course was amazing. The service was truly outstanding. The atmosphere was casual, farm to table aesthetic, yet with an air of sophistication. Delightful."

  • "Went there instead of the usual nice city places and what an amazing night. The outdoor dining was setup just perfectly, the waiter did a great job helping with selections and was right on the money, and every dish brought out had such fresh tastes. I can't wait to go back."

  • "My dining experience at David Burke did my meet my expectations due to the lack of service. For one, though I made reservations, I had to wait for a considerable amount of time to be seated. Secondly, the service that I received from the waiter was subpar and well below what I would expect from an establishment such as David Burke Kitchen."

  • "If not, DB Kitchen is for you. Beginning in the Treehouse bar, our waitress was lacking interest, manners and skills. Add attitude and our experience was ruined. Even the perfect evening couldn't make up for it.DB has wonderfully inventive appetizers but I was disappointed that there was only one jar app.Monkey bread was great but entrées and sides forgettable."

  • "Great restaurant. Went during restaurant week for dinner and the menu options were great. Staff were very friendly. Tuna and salmon tartare was excellent. The heritage pork was delicious. Glad we decided to try David Burke Kitchen. Would definitely return."

  • "The Restaurant Week menu offered a wide variety of items, for each course, which is one reason we chose this restaurant for dinner with friends. It was a little disappointing that many items required a supplementary cost. Everything we had was very good, although I am not certain the Toffee Monkey Bread for Two warranted it's $14 supplement. The wine list is extensive, but there are few selections under $75. In some cases, buying a glass almost equaled the bottle cost/5; so it made more sense to order wine by the glass. Service was friendly and efficient."

  • "Went for Restaurant Week - half the options were supplemented (for $30 too). Not a RW menu if one of the dishes costs more than the advertised total. Food was decent."
