Sandwiches such as the soft-shell crab with salted mango puree, pickled vegetables and Old Bay mayo and the bacon cheddar Kitchen burger with jalapeno fries complement the open-air space, which also features a 14-seat chef's table and private cabanas. • "Everything we had was fantastic from the bucket of grapes, pickled carrots and tiny bread sticks that they brought in lieu of traditional bread basket to the Arnold Palmer Semifreddo & Hazelnut Crunch Bar desserts! In between the salmon and brazen were perfect - most amazing - only $8 for sparkling water. Excellent Restaurant Week find. The view from the Garden is wonderful - so nice to eat outside without being on street listening to (& smelling exhaust from) trucks whizzing by!"

  • "Went for restaurant week. Apps and mains were as expected; some classics some inventive foodie-esque cuisine. Good but not wow. I order the shortrib - it could have used some more seasoning. Dessert was lack luster. Definitely worth a try just not memorable. Go and enjoy the great outdoor space and yummy food."

  • "the food used to be great at this beautiful location, but in the years since it has opened, i have been increasingly disappointed...the menu sounds delicious, and once was, but now the execution is poor"

  • "great service and good food. Went for brunch and will definitely go back - we had the PB & J French Toast (so good), Leg and Eggs, deviled eggs and the banana bread muffin (definitely a favorite)"

  • "I was looking forward to dining here. While the food was satisfactory (not special in any way whatsoever), the services left much to be desired. We had ordered a bottle of wine, and food was brought out before the wine was presented. Then, as soon as you finished with one plate, it was whisked away, only to be replaced immediately with the next, leaving the diner no time to enjoy the wine or relax before the next course. I hate dining like that, and because of that will never return to this restaurant. PS - there were plenty of open tables so it was not like they needed ours for another seating. This is not the place to go for fine dining. It might be fine for a quick bite, or a burger, but that is not why we were there."

  • "Way too expensive for what you get. Portion sizes are small and there was no wow factor with anything that was served."

  • "One of the best brunches I have had in NYC. Been here twice. Extensive wine menu, great ambiance, excellent service & very tasty food."

  • "I have been to David Burke on the UES and loved it many times. I was so excited for all of the items I ordered and not one of them was remarkable. Every single item we ordered, we commented on how it was under-seasoned and lacked flavor. I mean who can order fresh ricotta and not want to finish it all."

  • "Very disappointed. First off, We had reservations for 6 people and they put 3 people on a bench made for 2....not so comfortable. Second the cheese burger came out with the cheese and the rest of the condiments on a separate plate for sharing. Just a plate of cold wet cheddar, surrounded by wilted lettuce and huge slabs of onions... Everything else was just "fine", nothing great... the wine list was a bit pricey in comparison to the menu. Personally I wouldn't return. Hopefully David Burke will step up his game, cause the outdoor space in the garden is fantastic!"

  • "Great outdoor space for brunch. They were able to accommodate 1 toddler and 1 infant in stroller, although prob difficult when it got busier as the space is not really child friendly. Food was average, there was a private event inside that was a really nice space. Service was good. "

  • "The food was good although the portions were small. The experience would be very ordinary if not for the unique outdoor experience."

  • "Went for a Saturday brunch. Was a beautiful day. Had lobster eggs benedict. Enjoyable experience. "

  • "Dining experience was interesting. The food was amazing! The Chefs are skilled; however, the timing was erratic. Items came 1 by 1 . An appetizer would arrive; the next would arrive a few minutes later, we were not sharing. Everything that hit the table was delicious! As for the service, our waitress (who was perfectly lovely) just couldn't get it together. She may have been new? We ordered a round of drinks and before those drinks made it to the table our appetizer had come and gone. Actually, only one glass of wine made it... 5min later she asked if we were missing anything. Yes, 2 other (already ordered Glasses of wine.) Our entrees came and then the rest of the wine. Dessert was delicious!"

  • "The garden setting is great, fresh flowers bushes, multiple levels so you feel in a garden if the weather is good. The appetizers were great, tasty, attractive ,intense flavor. The main course was just ok. Salmon was average. Scallops over pork belly was and tasted fatty. Neighbors had the chicken which looked very good. Desert was poor. The chocolate ice-cream lollipops had were fatty and flat, same with the raspberry or rhubarb crisp. Presentation was great but taste was fatty & flat. Service was very slow at first but improved. Staff was very friendly. The service was slow/"

  • "This green roof top spot is a great break from the usual city hustle. Service was attentive and courteous, when we asked to move tables we were accommodated with a smile. Food was fantastic. Took my mom for Mother's Day brunch, will be taking hubby back for date night soon. "

  • "Took my girlfriend there for dinner. Nice ambience. Lot of space but they crowd tables close together. No privacy. Food was good. I don't drink alcohol. Server's attitude became very frosty when I gave back the wine list. He ushered us out in 45 minutes. The shortest dinner I have ever had in an up-scale restaurant."

  • "This place easily has the worst restaurant design, mainly because it is located in a hotel. It looks like a cafeteria in college!! Awful."

  • "We loved it there. The food is great. The fixed price lunch is a bargain."

  • "The Garden is an ideal spot on a sunny day. Tucked above street level and surrounded by greenery, it feels secluded from everything but the din of NY traffic. The menu is sophisticated and fit for foodies."

  • "For a place where you have high hopes as a good hotel and great location with a consistent chef at the helm as David Burke this was by far one of the most unsatisfying dining experiences I've had in a long time. As someone who eats out every night I am tolerant and forgiving but this one takes the cake. Tables ordering next to us got our food and ordered after. They mixed up our orders twice and failed to seat us and took 30 minutes at a what was an half full restaurant. I'm a cup half full type of person but this restuarant left me as a cup half empty customer."

  • "The drink so expensive. The lobster so small and it cost $35 is not reasonable price."
    Dined on 8/16/2013
  • "The menu is best for foodies who like to experiment but its a treat to eat outside. And we did love what we ordered."

  • "Went here on a Saturday night and had a wonderful meal, with fantastic service. The appetizers were delicious - we got the ricotta jar, the foie gras and duck jar and the peanut butter and fried grape dates. The main courses were equally fantastic, but the general consensus was that portions were a tad small. We finished with the cheesecake tree which is always a favorite. Great time and great outdoor space - will definitely return."

  • "We made reservations at The Garden for dinner during restaurant week and had an exceptional experience. Our waiter Zack was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great recommendations. We had the Burrata and crab cake to start and they were both fresh and delicious. For mains I had the short rib with mac and cheese and my partner had the salmon, both were very large portions and prepared exactly how I had envisioned. This was a wonderful restaurant week experience and I would recommend going."

  • "Haven't been in awhile as the last couple of times service was terrible. Better this visit, but still not great. Very attentive early on and then, pretty much forgotten about. Chasing the waitress for another drink; chasing the waitress to order dessert-- all things they make a hefty margin on. It was as if she disappeared after taking our initial order."

  • "Great ambience, outside roof top garden is beautiful for dinner, until they turned the florescent lights on. Buzz kill. Appetizer, very good. Main course, so so. Service? Um, not so good. I happened to see the bartender pour my spouses Kettle One & tonic. Looked like he ran out of Kettle mid pour and instead of opening another bottle of Kettle, he topped it off with Sky Vodka. They gave little training to the young woman who was to serve our drinks. She was frantically looking at a map to determine just where to serve these two drinks. Can’t say I’d rush back to this obvious hipster hang out."

  • "It was a hot evening and we sat outsdide in the garden until it rained. The staff were very accomodating in relocating us downstairs out of the rain and the meal continued without interruption. Only downside was the air con not workingfor a while downstairs, but it was fixed. the meal was tasty and enjoyed by all."

  • "Went to The Garden with friends-- we had a drink at the bar first and then got seated for dinner. The weather cooperated so it was a beautiful night, however had it not cooperated we could've eaten inside which has the same menu. Food was very good.. small portions so we ordered a bunch of appetizers and then our entrees. Cool scene and good for a date or group setting."

  • "Went for brunch on a Saturday around noon. Great overall experience-- only complaint is the hostess' who have a little bit of an attitude. We were running late to our reservation, and I had called ahead to let them know. They were polite on the phone, but once we got there, they were extremely rude about it. They weren't welcoming in general to any of the other patrons who were coming in around the same time as us. A lot of attitude and 'himming and hawing.' Aside from that, our waitress was sweet and attentive, and the food was great. You can't beat an outside venue on a beautiful Saturday afternoon."

  • "Our food arrived swiftly. The presentation was spectacular. The flavors were perfect. Our server, on the other hand, was uninterested in anything other than how fast we were ready to order. We decided to leave after our appetizers. Getting the check took longer than the seating, ordering, and eating process. In this city, there are plenty of establishments that offer the same quality of food, with far better service."

  • "We actually got there early and found out that I had reserved the outside seating by accident. The hostess was nice and helpful and rearranged our table. Had a few drinks at the bar and everything was good. As for dinner, the server is well educated on the menu and really attentive. Food was awesome, can't remember what I ordered but everyone at the table were happy with their meal. Would definitely go back again next time when I'm in town."

  • "After so many good reviews, we decided to give a try. It was beautiful day in NYC and we looked forward to nice dinner. But unfortunately this place didn't impress us at all. For prices they have, I expected at least wine in nice glass not plastic glass. Food was very average and completely was not worth the price. Garden is nice, but there are many other nice restaurants with outside seating. Probably we wont be back. Much better idea to stick with other David Burke establishments in the city."
