A word from Daveed's at 934 - Mt. Adams
This cozy, colorful Mt. Adams restaurant serves David H. Cook’s exquisitely composed, restlessly imaginative fare. Nothing is alien to Cook, who has earned a reputation over the years for innovative dishes that often dazzle the palate. In a more subdued mood, he might put his own twist on a traditional dish, creating a hearty Pan Seared Duck Breast with garganelli pasta and Vermont White Cheddar. But then there are the go-for-broke dishes like sea scallops with corn belini, creme fraiche ice cream and crisp spinach. Outlandish, perhaps, but it proves itself on the plate. Even at his most experimental, Cook shows good taste and restraint, paying close attention to texture and the interplay of unusual flavors. No one has a finer hand with foie gras. The domestic brand Cook uses is pan-seared, served with an ever-changing "lazy susan" of ingredients, from sweet to savory, which is served with a complimentary glass of late harvest. You will be amazed with the "Big City" dining!

  • Came here for Restaurant Week

Came here for Restaurant Week with a group of girlfriends and was curious to try for the first time. Difficult parking in Mt. Adams is a given and nothing different for this place. The ambiance was much more casual and eclectic than I was expecting. For some reason, I had the perception that this was a very formal, stuffy French restaurant. Instead, I found simple wooden chairs, tons of original artwork (for sale), and bright colors on the walls. We all ordered off the Restaurant Week menu--one choice for first course: Potato Leek Soup, one choice for second course: Romaine Salad, and two choices for third course: Hangar Steak or Chicken Pasta. Overall, the food was good, but not amazing and the portions were positively lilliputian.

After years of hearing about how great this establishment is, our party of 4 was very disappointed. Food was so so, nothing to talk about, service was just okay, and the portions were so small, everyone ate again later at another establishment. If the portions were downsized due to the restaurant week promotion, then restaurant week was a rip off, and gave me no reason to visit this restaurant again.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 3/14/2012
Came here as part of restaurant week, we were greetly promptly by Pam and led to our table. Garry was our server and did an OK job, it seemed like he was selling the normal menu and not the restaurant week menu. Also when he would take things off our table he would suggest things under his breath like "what about truffle frites". One other note about service, please describe the plate just put down in front of me. I never had an explination expect when the Amuse Bouche was brought out. The food- the potato leek soup needed some more flavor and the mushroom duxelle didn't add it. The bread was cold, the salad was just ok nothing special. The main was around 2.75 oz of hanger steak and was fine expect for a piece of fat.

Unbeatable service. Great food: tasty for anyone, and suitable for a gourmet. The Mount Adams neighborhood is charming. On-street parking is scarce but adequate, and a parking garage is available a couple of blocks away. Steep Mt. Adams walkways might be a problem for people with physical limitations. Walking distance from the Playhouse in the Park theater. Before or after dinner have a drink next door at the Blind Lemon. It is a quality place with a hidden, hole-in-the-wall ambiance.

I made reservations for daveeds probably 6 hours before dinner requesting for them to make it as romantic as possible and that I wanted to have a secluded dining spot. Upon arrival they greeted us with a warm welcome seated us and brought water, the choices were sparkling water or spring I thought that was awesome. The service in general was superb me and my fiancé being from California and a regular to very similar restraunts in losangeles we were IMPRESSED. From the food to the cocktails and the dessert. The staff there had great time management skills every course came within a timely fashion of the other. I had the lavender pear salad which was to die for and the braised duck breast. AMAZING. I recommend daveeds to any and all. I

I had a collegue in from out of town and decided to take her to Mt.Adams, to see one of the finer finds in Cincinnati. The food and service were suberb...we ordered the lamshank and duck....seriously to die for. The waitress was amazing, and extremely knowlegable about the evening's choices. The only draw back was that there was a large group of women seated next to us (who looked like they were too having a great time)and it made it extremely hard to carry on a conversation. Otherwise a great and quick cab ride from downtown!

Anyone looking for the ultimate fine dining experience need look no further than Daveeds. This was the best meal I have had in Cincinnati. As we waited for our scallop appetizers the chef sent out a salmon based teaser to start us off with. I normally do not eat salmon, but this was delicious. The scallops were excellent as well. My wife and I both ordered mushroom stuffed ravioli, and I don't know which one of us liked it more. I am looking forward to our next trip back. Loved the ambience but our service was TERRIBLE!! Seated at the wrong table and then moved. Ok, no big deal. Took a long while to get bar drinks to table. Had reserv. for the first seating of night. We informed our waiter that we needed to be at a show at 7:30. He said no problem. We pretty much never saw him again. A different person brought each course and no one ever asked how our food was. We couldn't even get a second drink. My food was GREAT!! But it took forever! We arrived at 5:45 and we got our entre at 7:07!! That did not leave time to eat prior to leaving to get to our show. Our "waiter"did not even make eye contact with us. we had to practically trip him to get our check and had to run to our show to make last call.

We were seated in a back room sans windows, but with nice colorful paintings. For appetizers we enjoyed the scallops and the frito. Portions are not huge, so recommend partaking of each of the 3 courses - everything was very tasty and well presented. The roasted lavender pear salad was quite pleasant and the beet salad very colorful. The duck breast prepared medium rare was buttery, flavorful and not at all "gamey"! The pork tenderloin w/carmelized onion sauce was tender and flavorful.
