This was my second time there. The first was at night and the place was so noisy I couldn't hold a conversation with my friend. So I took 5 friends to lunch there. The noise level was not bad but the music was all the fifties. Come on....this is an Italian Enoteca not Ed Debevics! Your food and decor is authentic. Get the music right. Lots of great Italian music out there. Play some. The service was spotty. The server seemed to have to do his own bar tending which slowed things down. We started with the roasted cauliflower steak with olive tapenade & lemon jam, yum. Next we tried the pork belly & spring onion mostada, yum. Also on our plates was the seared octopus & warm fingerling potatoes with horseradish aioli, yum, yum. My husband, never one to miss a pasta course tried the giant rigatoni with house made sausage and oven roasted tomatoes. After he finished, he said: yum. Finally, because we still wanted to try some of the enticing menu options, we had the Wagyu hanger steak & grilled ramps with salsa verde. The verdict? Yum. He made recommendations on food and wine and even brought a little extra of the compote on our cheese and meat table when we raved about it. He was well educated on the food and wine menu and really made us feel welcome. Also, the food was phenomenal. We had a steak dish, octopus, and a pasta. Everything was delicious. The restaurant was romantic, and it was certainly a date night hit! I will rave about Davanti Enoteca to all my friends. The ricotta spread appetizer was amazing and they gave us all the extra toasts that we wanted. The cheese platter had very little serving sizes for the price, so that was the only negative. Oh, and the fact that in our party of 7, the chicken entree for one guest came out 15 minutes after everything else. Poor timing on their part. We chose from the brunch and lunch menus. The food was excellent and portions were enough to share. The service was attentive and very accommodating. The bloody Mary bar was original. My only comment will be that espresso coffee drinks were overpriced for the quantity that you get. It is an Italian restaurant and coffee should not be more expensive than a Bellini. All the food we tried (Ricotta and Honeycomb, Burrata salad, Pork Cheek & ricotta dumplings, spagetti) were all fantastic. From right off the bat, the GM himself ushered us to our table and saw to it that it was a comfortable spot. The food was phenom and their a la carte style kept the dinner interactive. Service was exceptional and I appreciated all of our server's recommendations throughout the meal. I love that the dishes are meant to be shared because the menu is filled with so many different things to try. It's a restaurant where you can be free to try anything because you know anything you pick is going to be delicious. I especially love the boards and the mason jars...you would think toast is just toast but their tuscan toast is just so good; thick slices of soft, crusty bread toasted with a little bit of olive oil and then smeared with whatever jar of goodness you choose... it's just so good.
The restaurant does get busy so the servers can get busy but they're friendly and helpful.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service.Great food and great service. They specialize in small plates, so it's a nice place to go with at least a few people so you can order things to share. Loved our server. Decor is a combination of rustic and modern. It's a wine bar, so you can't go wrong if you like the vino. It can get a little loud, but that's really my only complaint. We have never been disappointed and the food has been incredible.. tons of options for vegetarians (brought a vege friend here and she loved it)as well.
