Chicago restaurateur Scott Harris’ and Chicago's very own Edwin Arreola's rustic Italian wine bar, Davanti Enoteca, is now open in River North! Located on the ground floor of the Courtyard Marriott at 30 E. Hubbard, the restaurants fare is inspired by the small farms and fisheries that dot the Italian countryside. While salumi hang from the ceilings, chefs craft fresh handmade pastas for diners viewing pleasure in the open kitchen.   • "Great place for brunch!! There are a couple of breakfast places in River North that can get out of control busy on the weekends. Davanti should be one of them with how amazing the food is and the cozy atmosphere! But it was no wait for me and my husband @ 10 am. Such great service! Such great yummy food! And it's attached to Glazed donuts. Lots of people coming in and out of there. And for a really good reason! The donuts are incredible!!! Must order the trio! And good luck choosing just three! They all looked so tempting! I had Uovo Milano (their version of a Benedict) and it was soooo delicious! I will be craving every morsel of food from there until we go back. Which I hope is very soon! A must try for breakfast in River North!"

  • "Had a very good experience there. Took a couple of out-of-town guest for dinner prior to a architecture boat tour. Definitely a solid place. Good wine / drink menu. Food was very good and very reasonable for the location. Great choice if you're squeezing in dinner before an event."

  • "A wonderful dinner! Started with the signature Focaccia di Recco--thin and light. The honeycomb is an added treat. Next, the Truffle Egg Toast, covered with fontina, two eggs, truffle oil and slices of asparagus for a creative blend of flavors. Followed by the Orecchietti--pasta was firm & tasty--spicy, but not overpowering. The polenta/ragu was delicious. The Biondo Torta featured maple gelato on a warm brown butter blondie drizzled with caramel & almonds, so good! We love that you can order as you go. We kept the menus at the table & ordered the next course as we went along. The wine list has nice variety--5 oz. or 8 oz. pours by the glass is a nice option. They also had Vermentino by the glass, a nice surprise. We will be back!"

  • "I was in Chicago over the weekend with friends. We walked through Davanti en route to get donuts (!!!) at Glazed and Infused. I was so intrigued by the atmosphere of Davanti (and the elaborate bloody mary bar!) that I decided to check out the posted brunch menu. Needless to say, we immediately changed our brunch reservation for the following morning, and were so glad we did. The food was delicious and the service was stellar. Highly recommend the omelet dish -- the cheese is to die for!"

  • "I have been to the Taylor St location and loved it so I was happy to see they opened a second location close to my office. I went for brunch on Sunday. It was delicious! Service was slow for some reason - it wasn't very crowded yet but they were very friendly. I had the prosciutto e Uova il Pane which was absolutely delicious and I ate the whole thing! I was full for hours. My friend had the french toast also delicious and my "small" friend had pancakes and syrup. The crispy potatoes were not at all crispy so they didn't charge us. I would recommend it - either location. Happy they finally take reservations."

  • "It is a small plate menu so the cost really adds up especially when the portions are so small. The Aperol Spritz was the best part of the meal. We ordered 2 pastas which were very small and not that good. Perhaps a large table ordering more varieties would be more enjoyable but be cautioned you may only get a small forkful!"

  • "I must say that because of my chaotic stay in Chicago, this restaurant made me relax and enjoy the evening...initially a party of 4-evolved at the last minute into 6-and they smiled and renegotiated the table without much ado-the food was insane good! Everyone was delighted with every course! Eggplant vasi is a must! The tuna carpaccio and charred cauliflower were delish! Davanti burger/orrichetti/pollo solo mio were the main courses that everyone got-we all think alike...amazing service to top it off!"

  • "We were looking for some Italian more on the classic side and this was one of the few places that had slots open for reservations on a Saturday night, yes it was last minute. The atmosphere was more for the younger crowd with loud techno-muzak blaring throughout the place. We ordered the meat/cheese tray, octopus and mushroom risotto. The food was pretty good but just didn't hit the spot for what I was craving. Bc it wasn't what I was specifically looking for doesn't mean it was bad. Just realize this isn't where you will get traditional italian in a quiet environment. "

  • "I love Davanti Enoteca. They have amazing food. So glad they are open for brunch. They have a showstopping bloody mary bar. Their french toast is deliciously fluffy and light. It's not heavy at all. I also tried their pizza with the leeks, mushrooms, and taleggio cheese. Super stinky, but super delish. The bartender, Nate, is one of my faves. Glazed and Infused being directly adjacent is also terrific. Amazing Donuts. Keep up the good work."

The attractive room was quite noisy, but we could carry on a conversation with a little effort.   • "Excellent service and even better food. Make a point of getting the polenta board with the ragu special. I've had it twice and it's been brilliant both times. The polpo is fantastic as well; perfectly tender. Everything was great. Superb desserts and wine list. I wasn't amazed by the burger, but if you're spending the money to go to Davanti, you shouldn't be going for the burger anyway. The tapas-style dishes aren't huge, but they're rich and perfect for sharing. "

  • "I came here very excited for brunch. The menu looked very good, and there were a few things I wanted to try. I decided on 'crispy polenta cake with sunny side up egg, braised mushrooms" and some kind of goat cheese. Sounds delish right? The polenta cake was not crispy, and bland. I've made polenta at home way better. The goat cheese sauce on top had no flavor, and added nothing. Our server was not very friendly, and sort of rude we asked questions about the menu. They were busy, but not enough to not warrant a table visit back to check in after our food was dropped to see if we needed anything (we did, but by the time he came back it was way too late). The decor inside is nice, so I would only go back to sit at the bar for a drink. "

However, the restaurant was empty on a Thursday night and the service was bad. We were also served cold "toasted" bread. The menu is the same as Taylor Street but it isn't prepared the same and everything we ordered - all things I've had at the other location - was just not good, sadly."

  • "... such is the definition of variety, and such are the many menu options at Davanti-Enoteca. While you should feel free to ask the server for recommendations, there's almost no need, as you cannot go wrong - though you might need to ask him or her where to draw the line on quantity: the eyes can quickly outgrow the stomach. As a first course, the simplicity of creamy jarred ricotta and whole honeycomb on toast perfectly piqued my interest in "what's next? and how can it top what I've just eaten?" And while there were three courses for my wife and I in between, we bookended the meal with the daily ragu (again, one cannot go wrong, no matter the ingredients) served on the best polenta I've ever had (thanks to the Mascarpone -- wow!)."

I wouldn't hesitate to bring any foodie there."

  • "Pleasant surprise! The brunch menu is fabulous. The pancakes were amazing and so is the egg white frittata. My kids were completely satisfied. One had pizza, which he proclaimed was the best. The other had Italian biscuits and gravy. He ate every bite! An added bonus is they are a Glazed & Infused donut location.......so yummy! We will definitely go back."
