A word from Davanti Enoteca - River North
Chicago restaurateur Scott Harris’ and Chicago's very own Edwin Arreola's rustic Italian wine bar, Davanti Enoteca, is now open in River North! Located on the ground floor of the Courtyard Marriott at 30 E. Hubbard, the restaurants fare is inspired by the small farms and fisheries that dot the Italian countryside. While salumi hang from the ceilings, chefs craft fresh handmade pastas for diners viewing pleasure in the open kitchen. Visit us for breakfast, lunch & dinner 7 days a week & brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, however the busboy was constantly hovering over us, constantly refiling water when the glass was still full, and on three occasions tried to remove our plates while we were still eating and had food on the plate!! I finally asked him to leave us be and I'll call him when I need him !! Please train these young guys to allow your patrons to relax and enjoy their food without constant interruption."

  • "Davanti on Taylor is one of my favorite restaurants, but the River North location does not share the same charm, level of service or quality of food. The atmosphere is much more "River North-y" - they were playing techno music and the crowd was much younger and more energetic. The service was mediocre at best, and the food was very restrained - dishes that we love at the Taylor location were not as well-seasoned. It seems like they pulled back a little, maybe to please a less adventurous crowd. It was still a fine meal, but we will be having our sea urchin pasta and octopus on Taylor Street only going forward."

  • "Well priced good food and great wine. Great pace for a group. Very enjoyable but not particularly memorable. The service was very nice."

  • "The service was quite good and our waiter provided solid information on the food and was attentive. If anything, the additional staff may have been too attentive - constantly clearing plates that we didn't feel needed to be cleared. We had a nice meal, although I would not consider it noteworthy beyond the service. Basically, if I am in need of a restaurant in that area in the future (for instance, someone staying in one of the nearby hotels) I would visit again, but it probably isn't somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to."

  • "First time i ate there i could not wait to go again. Definitely a "Foodie's Dream". Definitelty get the Polenta and the Cheese Flatbread--delicious!!. I really do love this place alot, causual yet elegant, hip."

  • "Love the cheese and cured meat selections--a great place to sample small plates and order wine to compliment it. It's great they have 5 oz. pours so you can try different wines out with each small plate."

  • "It just keeps getting better at Davanti Enoteca, this was our third time dining there and we can't wait to go back. We always start with the Formaggi & Salumi platter of 5 choices for $29,and we get 3 salumi and 2 Formaggi, enough for 4 people. Then the Bruschette, chicken liver pate followed by a Pizze, and the main dishes of Uovo in Raviolo "San Domenico ",Oreccuiette con Sasiccia e Rapini and Pollo Sole Mio are all good choices. A must try."

  • "Been to this River North site many times. Great dining experience."

  • "You'll never be disappointed here with the tapas style rustic Italian food. Every dish is full of flavor and well presented. The atmosphere at this location isn't as authentic as on Taylor Street, but the food never disappoints. While not inexpensive, the food is a good value for what you get. They have also improved the wine list. A real gem in a sex of expensive tourist trap and expense account restaurants."

  • "Everything was very good but seemed a bit on the salty side -- even the salad! And this is coming from a person that enjoys salty foods. Torta bacio amazing as usual."

  • "The food was very good. My friend I had the beet salad, butternut squash & farro, roasted cauliflower steak, octopus (which was one long tentacle, not cut up - cool!), and the ravioli. The food was good, but portions were weird. There was only one single raviolo even though that was a "main" sized small plate. Beside that the experience was good and food is worthwhile."

  • "This isn't your typical Italian restaurant. Our waiter was fun, told us how to order - it's a small plate sharing place. The food was unusual and very good it was a great experience."

  • "Great fun and food! I loved sharing the small plates with my friend. I love the decor, great wine list in a wine cellar themed restaurant...very nice!"

  • "This location of Davanti Enotecs feels a little more "chain-like" with hurried waiters and big menu formats, but the food is outstanding and the wine list is plenty. I think this is definitely better for groups than an intimate dinner."

  • "got into Chicago late and what luck the restaurant is in the same hotel that i was staying in. The place was packed on a Friday night. they had a spot for me the chefs table right by the food prep section ... they really took care of me. I wound up eating there for dinner the following night as well ... this place could become addicting i will have to figure out how to get back here again on business."

  • "I have been to other Davanti locations and this location was extremely loud. I was there with a group of 8 and I couldn't hear the person sitting next to me."

  • "Having a Davanti in our town made their River North location an easy decision when we were visiting downtown this weekend. This location does a great job with the quality of food (Tradizonale, Pancakes, and Fritatta). All meals were excellent. This location has the added benefit of having a carry out donut shop in a corner of its space."

  • "Amazing food and ambiance, I can't believe I've never came here earlier. Everyone had a great meal, our waiter was great and very knowledgable with the menu (we ordered everything he recommended). Will be coming here again very soon."

  • "We are big fans of Davanti Enoteca on Taylor Street, and when we had out of town friends visiting who wanted to meet downtown for dinner, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to try this location. We were not disappointed! Our favorite items were on the menu, or favorite wine was available, and the wait staff were all on the ball! They kept everything coming at a perfect pace, handled all our questions, and added to our overall enjoyment with their friendliness! We had a lovely evening, and will return without hesitation!"

  • "Pleasantly surprised with the food. Great flavors. Loved the spicy pepperoni pizza and some lit ear pasta :) the waiter is going to tell you all dishes are small and are intended to be shared. Its true. The price of the dish though is not cut in half as the portion is. We had 3 small dishes to share plus 2 sodas and was close to 70 bucks. It was really good though."

  • "We ordered shared dishes. Bruschetta of the day, mushrooms and truffle oil. Polenta of the day with braised lamb shank. Polenta was pored onto a board and the meat was spooned on top of that. Finished with the Scallops. Huge Scallops, perfectly cooked, with fennel and citrus. We share a bottle of white wine, very reasonably priced. The manger brought a glass of Mustaco Asti as a sweet dessert. Perfect meal!"

  • "Overpriced, food was only okay, and the service only came by to refill our wine glass."

  • "Sharing the food was perfect! Sizes were great. Also, a friend of mine got there before any of us and one of the managers gave her a drink on the house. It was so nice of him! The waitor was very nice and even returned 3 times because we didn't know what to order and he never seemed impatient. Overall great place to go!"

  • "Love the damnation in Taylor st., so was delighted to try this new one. Plus they take reservations which makes it much easier to get in. The food was similar or the same as the original, love the small plates. Some are better than others of course. But the service was really terrible."

  • "The food was amazing - the ambiance cozy and charming. We ordered what we thought was a caprese salad but it was actually a sandwich. The manager was there in a flash, packed the sandwich to go and made us a fresh salad even though it wasn't on the menu. Oh, the sandwich was on the house! I can't wait to go back!!"

  • "Ordered the burrata and it came out ice cold in the middle. Sent it back for another and it came out ice cold again. Waiter was friendly and removed it from our bill but it was definitely a buzzkill for the evening."

  • "First time customer but not the last. Service was superb- friendly and prompt. Food was delicious and well-prepared- also, the recommendations from the staff were great. They know their menu well. Good for lunch biz or date dining."

  • "We couldn't believe the service and atmosphere we were treated to when we had dinner at Davanti Enoteca-River North,on Saturday February 8,2014. Our server Nicole was very special and she always kept our wine glasses full.Management offered special dishes to try. I would recommend Davanti to everyone. Lou DePasquale"

  • "We had a group of 7 people, and we really enjoyed everything that we had that night. We ordered a lot of items to share and everyone was pleased with what we got. We ordered some charcuterie and cheese, the chicken liver pate, the polenta board with the ragu of the day (which may have been the best thing we had that night), a couple of pizzas and a few pasta dishes. The waiter was really helpful with his recommendations and letting us know if we had ordered enough food for the group. We finished off the meal with some sorbet. Including 3 bottles of wine, we spent around $60 each, which is not too bad at all. We'll be back again."

  • "Stick to the location in little Italy. The food was not very good and is pricy for the portions. Service was terrible"

  • "What a fantastic experience. I took my 5 member team there to celebrate a great 2013 and I couldn't have been more thrilled with the choice. The food was fantastic and we are still talking about the focaccia, ricotta and honeycomb dish - it was amazing. The food was great and our table enjoyed sharing many dishes. We had wine and food flowing throughout the time we were there. As an added bonus, after we were done the waitress approached our table with 8 bottle of after dinner liqueurs. The owner brought those bottles for us absolutely complimentary to sip on since it looked like we were having fun and celebrating . We stayed another hour after our bill was paid for sipping on the liqueur. Thank you Davanti Enoteca."

  • "This was my third time here and I feel like the food was not very good- I didn't like the warm kale salad or the bucatini which was too thick and cold. I think the food at the original Taylor street location is better."
    Dined on 1/21/2014
  • "Shame, but it is starting to feel like a Marriott. Not the edgy and hip feel of the original Davanti Enoteca on Taylor Street. Expansion extracts its price."

  • "I stopped here b/c this place got good reviews from Check Please! but I was a little disappointed. I should have reviewed the menu more before arriving. We had the Focaccia di Recco with the local honey comb that was FABULOUS! However, the Davanti Burger was way too salty. The shoestring fries that accompanied the burger were great. Probably won't be back."
