Diner Reviews
  • "サービスも丁寧で、お食事も本当に美味しかったです。 日本人海外在住者にとっても、日本の味を楽しめて、またこれから日本食を知っていただく方にもいいレストランだと思います。"

  • "Great food, we did lots of small plates to get the feel. Fine Japanese food priced at good value in a lovely ambiance with good service. A find!"

  • "We had a dinner after the grand opening week. But, Soba dishes are a big disappointment honestly as a Japanese foodie. Their main salling buckwheat noodle wasn't tasty at all. Appetizers are OK, but not really out of ordnary. I'd rather to have a handmade soba noodles at Soba Koh, East Village. "

  • "underrated, relatively unknown, a bit strange/different. BUT for the neighborhood, AND the price, this is a bit of a gem. On the plate, all is well!!"

  • "This is not an Izakaya!! It is completely over-priced and over-fancied, and loses the entire Izakaya concept/atmosphere. Really small and uninteresting sake menu. Had such high hopes, as we love Sushi Azabu. We should have just gone to Sushi Azabu for the same price! Crazy! Really too bad, we were hoping this would be our new neighborhood spot. Won't be back."

  • "The service was attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and authentic. Fun dishes to share and good drink menu with some great sake and interesting cocktails. The soba was absolutely delicious and the simplicity of form and flavor was perfection. My only issue was that there were a couple infants in the front room that were crying incessantly and we felt that the relaxing ambience they created with beautiful music, food and decor was a bit destroyed by the noise but it wasn't their fault. Highly recommended."

  • "Izakaya means pub but this one is not at all Izakaya, foods and prices are the moderate restaurant rank. The waiter told us the soba is a handmade but I doubt it, soba are too thin and it breaks up, it doesn't have koshi (knelled well) quality. And weird soba-yu, too thick, almost specially made from soba powder."

  • "The food was very good, the concept of the greemwich grill was changed, good japanese food, but we liked the service very much, the waitress very atentive."

  • "I will never come back to this restaurant again. The waitress that served myself and my mother did not attend to us at all and she seemed very unfamiliar with hosting services. I am very upset with how we were treated. I do not recommend people to come here."

  • "The food is unbelievable. Subtle tastes of modern Japan in the heart of Tribeca. Small delicacies to share all along, to finish with your personal plate of cold or hot soba entrée. The service needs some improvement, they kind of rushed us all along and kicked us out (literally lights up, no music) and 12:15 because they close at midnight-that's what they said when we asked what was happening. That kind of killed the magic, considering that the taste of magic comes at a very high price ($400 for a table of 4). If you get the French guy who seems to be in charge, he will guide you wisely through the menu. Definitely a place to save for special occasions."

  • "This restaurant has very good decoration and serves very refined food...looks more refined than it tastes...Also they serves food very slow. You need to wait like half an hour for next dish..."

  • "Greenwich is a good little restaurant. But since reopening after Hurricane Sandy, quality of food and service has changed. The hirame carpaccio was small in portion, not the same quality of fish and plated by an amateur. We really hope it was go back to the quality of food and service so we can continue to enjoy for many years."

  • "Greenwich Grill is in my pocket of favorite standbys that I can return to over and over again. Never get sick of this place, love the overall ambiance. It's my safety - in a good way!"

  • "Nice intimate restaurant with excellent food. Little dark, but not disturbing. Personnel is friendly. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy it fully, because we were rained wet and were somewhat cold. Otherwise it would have been a top evening."

  • "Fantastic price fix lunch menu - for August they were even giving out free half glasses of wine! So that's $12 for a 3 course lunch with wine - and even coffee/tea afterward. Wow. Very interesting menu, I had the uni and clam pasta, ceviche app, and panna cotta dessert. Wow. The only complaint is it's a bit too slow for a 1 hour business lunch. It takes a while for the food to come out. Perhaps next time I could try to bring everything at once - including the check. But still very recommended."

  • "Great food and great value. Service, however, does not match the level of the food!"

  • "The lunch specials feature appetizer and pasta for $12 or appetizer and entree for $18, and it comes with coffe, tea or espresso. In the summer, free half-glasses of wine and beer are also available. the food is exquisite--asian-inspired salads, fish, and pastas. The decor is simple and sleek, but not pretentious. Service is excellent, though this is clearly a place where wait staff expects you to linger. Water was refilled endlessly and promptly."

  • "Best green curry fettuccine you could imagine! Never had a buttery green curry... to die for! All the food is amazing! My only beef: Our $54 bottle of wine, when I checked my wine app on my phone, retails for $7-11... The manager (very very nice guy) told me that they buy it for $16! I told him they are getting ripped off, if that's the case, and that we are royally ripped off, if thats the mark-up. Too bad I checked the price... left a bad taste in my mouth for what was a favorite place of ours."

  • "The Greenwich Grill was recommended to me as a great place to eat. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience and our waitress was very rude, not very helpful. Although the food was delicious, we were not prepared for such small portions. My friends and myself are not big eaters to begin with, but we were very suprised to see such small portions when our pasta entrees came to the table. If the waitress would have warned us that the portions were small, we would have ordered salads and appetizers. Once our entree came, it was too late. The Manager did give us a complimentary dessert to make up for the poor service. Unfortunately I do not plan on returning to this restaurant, there are too many other great restaurants in the city."

  • "Fooda are very good with very reasonble price, and their service was great. Only one problem was that room was poorly‐lit. It may try to make romantic ambiance. However, as long as Greenwich Grill is place where we eat, it should have more lighting."
    Dined on 3/12/2010
  • "I have been to the Greenwich Grill many times now and am always amazed by the quality of the food. The Ceviche and Fish Carpaccio used fish much tastier and fresher than I've had at other restaurants. All of the pastas, most notably the Zuwai Crab and Bottarga Spaghettini and the Thai Green Curry Fettuchine, were delicious and cooked a perfect al dente. The Roast Chicken Entree was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Last time I went we even ordered a few pieces of excellent sushi from the Sushi Azabu restaurant downstairs! *Great & romantic corner tables. They even have a great bathroom! Sabon soap and a Japanese toilet with heated seat and power wash! Amazing! Now I need to go back for the $18 lunch special. What a st"

  • "As always, my friend and I enjoyed the food at Greenwich Grill. It is still my favorite restaurant. We love the fish carpaccio and zuwai crab & bottarga spaghettini. I'm looking forward to dining at Greenwich Grill again sometime soon."

  • "The food was perfectly prepared. The service was impeccable and friendly. New York has myriad restaurants and the scene is always changing -- so, there are only a handful of restaurants I tend to frequent more than once or twice...and Greenwich Grill will be one of them."
    Dined on 10/16/2008
  • "Food was very good but the portion size was miniscule. Perhaps this explains the relatively low prices for a restaurant in this area of Tribeca."
    Dined on 10/18/2008
  • "Wouldn't serve us 3 pieces of sushi b/c the sushi bar downstairs was too busy. Made us wait 10 mins for a table that had been openly and visibly available at our reservation time."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful night here. I had the tasting menu and was so happy, great mixture of italian and japanese, I was a little concerned about how this would work, but the two blended perfectly, my husband had the veal and loved it. The wine list was very varied both price wise and the large selection. I am definatley planning to go back. The service was perfect."

  • "Food was excellent. Great ambience. Wait staff needs a lot of work. Missed orders (drinks). Came back mulptiple times and didn't have the item(s) that were ordered- bottle of wine, one of the entrees, the seaweed and rice to make the piece of sushi). When the bill came, was charged for the items that the restaurant didn't have or that weren't served to the table. Wait service not tight or well organized."

  • "I've been to Greenwich Grill Restaurant 4 times in just a month of August alone because I love it. I love the foods, drinks, service and everything. It's now my new favorite restaurant. My favorites are the fish carpaccio and the zuwai crab & bottarga spaghettini and of course, the sushi. Their coffee is from Italy and tastes so great. The milk is served warm so the coffee doesn't get cold easily. Those are the best. I strongly recommend Greenwich Grill to my co-workers, friends and relatives. I will definitely go back there again and again."
    Dined on 8/29/2008
  • "The food was excellent and reasonably priced, with small plate options that allowed people to try more than one dish. The menu was a bit eclectic and the service slightly awkward, albeit friendly."
    Dined on 8/30/2008
  • "Once you enter this restaurant, you feel like you are in Japan. Great Japanese hospitality which I found in Tribeca first time! Would like to repeat."
    Dined on 8/14/2008
  • "Italian-Japanese fusion sounds like a tricky proposition, but it really works. Excellent, interesting food with very attentive and gracious service (albeit hampered a little bit at times by the fact that some of the staff doesn't speak perfect English)."
    Dined on 8/14/2008
  • "Great brunch, not the cheapest out there and limited menu options. The french toast had a slight Japanese flair and the grilled fish is simply delicious. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good meal on a moderate budget."
    Dined on 8/10/2008
  • "A wonderful lunch experience with an old friend was made even better with a limited but great menu. Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor. Definitely a comeback."
    Dined on 7/29/2008
  • "We really think this is a great neighborhood find, but the service needs a little refinement. We had an amazing meal including the red snapper carpaccio........it was great. While the service needs translation help, they are extremely nice and accommodating and we loved the food!!!"
    Dined on 7/31/2008
  • "just enjoyable and well priced. Dined at 9:30 and rushed since they wanted to close the kitchen since they were not too busy."
    Dined on 7/19/2008
  • "Over all it was nice. Only remark is for table of two the folk, chopstick, knife and spoon placement takes up room and felt uncomfortable. Food portion is perfect. Would love to try AZABU Sushi next time which is downstairs."
