Darryl's Corner Bar and Kitchenfirst timeOverall I enjoyed Darryl's very much. Unfortunately while waiting it was a bit crowded, andour waitress was a little too slow but the music was great and the atmosphere was wonderful.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for a live-music brunch!I recently visited Darryl's with a friend for Sunday brunch. We made reservations and it turns out that was a good idea as the place was pretty full. It had a fantastic spread of options from breakfast to soul food dinner options as well as fresh fruit - all buffet style. Plus the jazz band for live music was a great addition! I would certainly return!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBBQ RIBSI recently went here for the first time last Friday. My partner refused to share his BBQ Ribs prior to us arriving for out dinner. I had to find out why he was not willing to budge on his stance. After ordering it I realized why. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good oh my god. lol. The meat melted off the bones and the flavor was so powerfully good that it exploded it in my mouth. I need to go back soon but I live in San Francisco, CA.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific! Love the "glorifried"Terrific! Love the "glorifried" chicken, with wonderful sides of black-eye peas and perfectly cooked asparagus. Delightful place to be--friendly, homey, yet sophisticated atmosphere. My one suggestion--an expanded dessert list.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite the surprise!I was led to believe through a review that the resturant specialized in comfort food. I didn't realize it was southern comfort food until I saw the menu. None the less the food was excellant and the entertainment as well. Service was a bit on the slow side. Couldn't tell if its always like that or if there were a lot of graduation parties there. Guess I'll have to go back again for a second try.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHit the spot!Went to Darryl's for my birthday and had a fabulous time. Staff were super-nice. The band serenaded me as I enjoyed a slice of sweet potato pie. Food was plentiful but so delicious we ate it all.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome! What a great restaurant! Service was top-notch and we literally were made to feel as if we were family. We will definitely go back to this great eatery in the future!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day = SuccessI had the pleasure of taking my wife and family there for Mother's Day and we had an amazing brunch. The only real Soul Food spot in Boston is Darryl's.
The bacon, grits, cheese eggs, and fried chicken is GREAT! I will return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNortheast ComfortWent with my family to Darryl's for Mother's Day and was happy to see everyone pleased. My one con was that our waiter took too long to bring us our food and drinks. Waiting 15 minutes for a beer is truly a downer and is unacceptable. Other than that the food was pleasantly good. I enjoyed the spicy crab cakes along with their "spicy" but "not too spicy" Jumbalaya. A side of sweet potato fries took good care of my sweet tooth. Besides our waiter being quite slow, everyone else was awesome! Music made our night very enjoyable. Nice change of pace from other restaurants in Boston.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service, and music!Went to Darryls on a whim and it was an excellent decision. Food was outstanding. Braised short rib just fell off the bone. Gumbo, ribs, cornbread, and hush puppies were spectacular as well. There was a live band with tons of talent. We went late in the evening, so we were lucky enough to get blues with our dinner. Our waitress was awesome. One member of the party is visually impaired, and when the waitress saw them usin a flashlight, she turned the lights up before we had even thought to ask. Super friendly and helpful! Highly reccomed this place.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a GREAT 35th birthdayHad a GREAT 35th birthday dinner :) Good food, staff, band, ambiance!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious fried chicken! I'mDelicious fried chicken! I'm still dreaming of it 5 days later.. Extremely loud because of the live music.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMlike a warm hug...We went for "Jazz Brunch." The jazz was great; the brunch buffet was abundant, unique, and put the ordinary breakfast buffet fare to shame. The amount of proteins offered was incredible (and very delicious). It was like a warm hug.
On the services side, there was a good amount of time where silverware was not replenished and patrons had to seek out cutlery from the hostess.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot. Food (ribs) wasGreat spot. Food (ribs) was fabulous. We plan to return, may also try weekend dance scene.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was Easter Sunday so everybodyIt was Easter Sunday so everybody was upbeat, but it seemed the staff was naturally friendly and positive. From the hostess to the waiter to the musicians to the gentleman who appeared to be the manager, everyone was intent on making sure we had a good experience. The food choices were excellent - from healthy to southern comfort - with something for everybody. I can't say enough about the experience. Exceptional in every respect.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food. Really niceFabulous food. Really nice staff. Outstanding music but way too loud for comfort. We were seated right next to the jazz combo and we literally could not speak for the hour set that they played. It was uncomfortably loud, probably unsafely loud. I realize the place is small but I would recommend that they put the jazz group up against the far wall at the bar end of the restaurant. That way they could set up another dining table where the band currently sits, allowing the restaurant patrons to have conversation while the jazz music plays at the far end of the room.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Easter Sunday Jazz BrunchThe Easter Sunday Jazz Brunch was a lot of fun. The jazz was lively (and very well played), the food was classic southern cooking, which we loved. The restaurant was a bit crowded (it was Easter, after all) but had a festive atmosphere. The restaurant had a lot of character. We had never been to Darryl's before but we would like to go back again to listen to more jazz!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for Easter brunchWe went for Easter brunch for our first visit. Staff excellant, food excellant, loved the music ( a little loud).
We will definitely return!!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWHole staff very friendlyWHole staff very friendly and helpful without overdoing it. Creative versions of classic foods were done very well (and food was plentiful). The band last Friday was terrific - mellow and relaxing and not too loud to prevent conversation.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLots of fun to have a deliciousLots of fun to have a delicious meal AND great music. Music starts 7ish so you can enjoy it while you dine. Other places seem to start music late.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat great food, extremelyGreat great food, extremely attentive service. Our only complaint (and for 3 visits, this was the first time it was a problem) was the music: WAY too loud for a small space. Even being in the backroom in the farthest table, we could hardly hear each other talk.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat times at a wonderfulGreat times at a wonderful neighborhood establishment.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious southern food.Delicious southern food. We caught live music on a Friday night. A very special addition to Boston.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the most consistentThis is one of the most consistent and consistently good restaurants in Boston. And the most fun.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Darryl's, but thisI love Darryl's, but this last visit was a little disappointing. This is the best fried chicken in town ("glorifried" they accurately call it). But this time the crispy coating was a little mushy. The chiecken itself is marvelous--really high quality. And the sides--I had spinach (perfetly prepared and very fresh) and black-eye peas and rice--absolutely scrumptious. But don't know why the coating for the chicken wasn't up to the usual standard.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as always. FriendlyGreat as always. Friendly atmosphere. And the best fried chicken in town--truly (as Bob the chef used to call it) "glorifried."1/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
