Dario's BrasserieFantastic BrunchMy husband and I tried this gem out last weekend for brunch when we were in Omaha for a mini vacation. I will say I was not disappointed. The food was amazing. Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday morning brunch. I had the Quiche Lorraine and it was to die for. My husband had the BLT and I can't decide who's meal was better. Once again we were impressed with the quality of service from the moment we walked in the door. Being that the Valentine's menu was fixed, I was excited to try the Chorizo Mussels. My excitement was not forsaken. I received a large serving of mussels and a great cone of frittes, which after all my travels around Europe to include Belgium and France are true to the form of frittes. My wife had the short ribs, which were very tender and flavored quite well. She enjoyed a glass of reisling along with her dinner, and I had one of their many selections of fine Belgian beers. I had to work my way around a big trench along Underwood, several construction workers, and an earth mover to arrive at Darrio's. It was well worth it. Inside was quiet without any evidence of outside activity. The service was impeccable; needs were anticipated, water was never empty, requests were immediately granted. I ordered a classice American meal; burger and fries. It was perfect. The meat was perfectly medium rare. The fries (pomme frites) were terrific, and the tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles were high quality and fresh. Also appreciated is Saturday lunch. The food is always wonderful (try the specials), and the beer and wine lists are truly exceptional. The service is friendly and helpful. As a bonus, morels were available. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the food is always delicious. There is an excellent selection of Belgian and other beers served in special classes specifically for that type of beer. The road/sidewalk construction outside somewhat "curbed" my enthusiasm as I approached however, as I opened the door and walked in I was pleased with the atmosphere. The place had a quaintness about it that brought to mind an afternoon of sipping wine and visiting with friends about travel locations. As we sat down we were offered a small flashlight to read the menu as some of the room lights were not working properly. We ordered appetizers, drinks and lunch. After finishing the appetizers and drinks, the meal was not to be seen. It took over an hour for our lunch to arrive and only after I approached the server to ask. Twice she told me it was on the way. It was an excellent special occasion choice. The food was great, we had mussels and pommes frites for appetizers. I had the Sous Vide Short Rib and it was melt in my mouth tender. They have a number of interesting beers. I had a Belgian beer called St. Bernardus 12. It was very smooth. The service was attentive and professional. The restaurant was finished well and very clean. The noise level was just right, not like the typical noisy restaurant that is becoming all to common.
