Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent and attentive service. Wonderful food. The waiter even suggested that my selection could be prepared in a variety of ways and offered me off-the-menu choices."

  • "This was my 4th visit in 3 months and it pleased me each time. Food and service were excellent."

  • "This was my second occasion. The first time, in the summer, our party was seated on the verandah and were treated to wonderful jazz. The second was late, at the end of winter in the rain, when my party was indoors. Both times were lovely evenings -- great food, a special environment, excellent wine list, and attentive service. The building even has an interesting history."

  • "The restaurant is in an old house, each room a dining room, two floors. In the summer they open a small patio with live music. Always great food and interesting wine selection. It's in my neighborhood and I've been going here for years."

  • "The sampler of 3 pastas we had for an appetizer was excellent. I has the Osso Bucco with risotto and my wife had the grilled veal chop. Bother were very tasty. We haven't been to Dante in several years, but will likely be back before long."

  • "In a charming old Victorian home, cozy comfortable feel. All 4 of us had fish - salmon, swordfish and Sea Bass - all excellent, perfectly prepared, generous portion! Pleasant service, just a little on the slow side. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for the food is because the scallops wrapped in bacon appetizer was too salty and seemed fried. Server recommended the Panna cotta for dessert and it was outstanding - also made in-house for a bonus."

  • "Been there e a number of times and the food and ambience is always excellent"

  • "This was our first time at Dante. The service was impeccable and the ambiance quiet and professional. The only issue we had was the consistency of the quality of the food for the price. I had ordered the osso bucco, which seemed bland and forgettable; but, another person's pasta dish, which was half the price, was divine. I would go back and order differently to give it a second chance - but the inconsistency in and of itself is disappointing."

  • "Having found this restaurant on the internet I didn't know what to expect. What I found surpassed all expectations. The staff was immediately attentive and my table was ready for us even though we arrived a whole half hour early. From beginning to a very late end (our party of 6 was the last to depart) we were treated with the utmost professionalism and respect. THE FOOD was immaculate and the wine list superb. This is a great hideout for a romantic sneak away or a random let's eat out night. What some may call on the medium to pricey side, I think was worth it end to end. Appetizers and aperitif to desert and after dinner liqueur, it was an experience worth repeating."

  • "Valentines Day is always high volume, and my wife and I recognize that, so we like to celebrate great food and bath oursleves in attentive service in an energetic atmosphere. Dante's didn't disappoint! You seldom see the owner and executive chef of a restaurant both walk around to greet the guests these days, particularly on a high volume night like this. They handle it with poise and grace. Very personable and confident - they should be! Extremely attentive wait staff - they do not "bother you" when you are engaged in deep conversation, and wait for the first break to come to your table. Amazing stuff. I would recommend them to any couple looking for a nice meal in a romantic setting with outstanding food and serivce."

  • "We arrived early and were taken upstairs to a back room with a number of occupied tables. We were seated promptly , but had to wait 15 minutes for our order to be taken. We did not order drinks, which appeared to be of concern for our waiter. Th real problem with the dinner was the following: 1. Spinach Salad was not baby spinach, but regular spinach. The spinach was tough, the walnuts were not cooked or candied, giving a bitter taste that made the salad tough to eat. 2. My Rockfish with Crab was under cooked and tasted fishy 3. One table was talking so loud, we could not enjoy the meal. While the last issue is not within the control of the restaurant, it was just another issue that contributed to the bad evening."

  • "great place for a group of close friends/family. you get your own private room, the food is great, the service is superb and the prices are in line with most other restaurants of this caliber even though nowhere else do you get your own private room. i will go back again when the occasion calls for it."

  • "Dante's is a lovely, cozy spot with great food and excellent service. Our table enjoyed various salads, rockfish, Chilean sea bass, veal and spinach ravioli. The bread basket tasted housemade and included four varieties. Nice wine list and my cocktail was perfectly prepared. Not cheap but not over-priced; good value overall. Do not rush your meal; this is a place to enjoy slowly."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Dante's. Excellent food, great service with a personal touch, and a nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend it to anyone."

  • "This is a both a neighborhood restaurant and a special meal delight. They cluster diners in rooms of an old house so you never know how large the restaurant really is. It always feels small and intimate. Food was outstanding and service attentive, but not overly hovering. It was not the first time we've been there and we will go again."

  • "This is a nice, quiet restaurant that still has cloth table cloths. Great food, too."

  • "Dante's restaurant has always been a treat for private dining but in past years the food was sometimes rated as fair to good. I am pleased to say that the current menu is more robust and the food is excellent quality and taste! A joy to dine there now. Some of the staff have issues with English but that is a minor issue."

  • "Although we have eaten at Dante's many times over 20 years, our dinner Saturday evening was superb. We have always enjoyed Dante's and it is one of our favorites. Giuseppe, the owner/chef, has changed the menu and added a number of new selections, two of which we ordered Saturday and both were delicious. The restaurant is charming, the service outstanding and the food very well prepared and delicious."

  • "The ambiance and the food are always excellent here. During the holidays, we met friends from out of town and requested a quiet, conversational area. We were given a private room! Could not have had better service or a better experience."

  • "Another wonderful meal at Dante's. From the greeting by the host to end of the evening, all was great! We followed our waiter's recommendation for our entree and tied something very different. He gave us great direction. It was wonderful."

Every time that i have made a reservation on open table and said it was a special occasion, my note has been acknowledged. not this time. not good service."

  • "Great ambiance and atmosphere. Service was attentive but they did stick us back in the corner when there were better tables to be had throughout the dining room. There was an extensive wine list with many reasonably priced wines. We ordered the lasagna which was fair to mediocre for the price. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought a complimentary slice of red velvet cake with a candle. Located in a lovely, old historical home. We weren't surprised as this place usually gets mixed reviews."

  • "Not as good as other times we've been there. Very crowded, which is good for them, but they seemed unprepared to deal with so many customers. Very noisy. In our reservation we'd specifically requested a quiet table where people wouldn't be bumping into us all the time. We did not get that. Yes, it's a small restaurant, but we'd booked well in advance and there ARE such tables. So I, in particular spent the entire evening with wait staff constantly bumping into my chair, which can really ruin a dining experience. Two of us thought the food was quite good (one had filet mignon, the other rockfish); two others were very disappoinated with their crab-stuffed trout, which they said had no taste. If we go again, it'll be on a weekday."

  • "We ate at Dante's for lunch - not cheap, but worth it. We had the scallops wrapped in bacon which was delicious but a little salty. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. When we arrived we were the first in the room in which we were seated. After a while several tables filled up and the room became a little noisy. Had the room ever filled completely, the noise level may have gotten to be a bit much, but with the light lunch-time crowd, the noise level never got too bad. Desserts were also very good and even the coffee was drinkable. All-in-all a very pleasant experience and we would definitely return."

  • "We went to Dante's for a special occasion as we have done many times in the past. The ambiance was pleasant, the room quiet as requested, the service acceptable. The food was not quite up to par as we have come to expect from Dante's. I had the veal which was a bit tough and chewy rather than the usual "melt in your mouth" taste I expect from this restaurant. My husband had lobster served with drawn butter which he thought was quite bland. We have usually fared much better."

Service is always top notch. Southern Italian food done well with many special touches and a variety of fish dishes ."
