Diner Reviews
  • "The Friday night special was the Fish fry...excellent according to my husband. I chose a gluten free pizza, and the crust had a very good taste to it. The "greens" salad was light and airy. Our server for the evening even gave us a sample of the lemon vinaigrette to take home when we mentioned how wonderful it was!! We had a 5pm reservation and had a good table overlooking the patio. There is a "no rush" atmosphere and we enjoyed the Italian Sangiovese wine before and with our dinner. Families coming and going, dates and married couples there for drinks and dinner. A very nice place, with excellent menu choices and a superb staff. We will be back."

  • "We love the food here because is fresh and different! It does not feel like Omaha due to the atmosphere. If you don't enjoy a rather noisy atmosphere - go early."

  • "great meal and dining experience. our friends loved it as much as we did."

  • "We enjoy Dante's on a regular basis, often taking advantage of their half price bottle wine pricing on Thursdays and Sundays. We also enjoy sitting at the bar, where Dustin serves up a phenomenal cocktail."

  • "GRADUALLY OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS DANTE'S HAS SLOWLY EVOLVED AND DEVELOPED. This has allowed for a truly fine, authentic and imaginative menu for Lunch and Supper. Even tho their pizza will spoil you from all others, the sides, ever changing entres, and a great selection of wines. This is the real deal. Not cheap, but they never take detours on quality of product. And even Alexander Payne liked it."

  • "We were looking for a quick meal that would be special for the guest from a rural area with limited options near her home, and the 91-year-old she had come to visit. We settled on Dante and were not disappointed. Access was easy, the reservation on a Saturday night was honored at once, the menu was full of choices featuring healthy, natural ingredients, and there was no pressure to add alcohol to the mix. it was a quick meal, but we could have lingered. It caters to a younger crowd, but visitors of any age can appreciate good flavor and good service. It draws crowds for good reason."

  • "Went with reservations for my daughter's 18th birthday. It's an hour drive from our home but it's her favorite restaurant and we wanted a special meal. We lived in Italy for several years and we do know an authentic Italian dining experience. We had always enjoyed Dante in the past but this visit felt like a cattle call at a buffet. Server seemed uninterested in the fact that this was a special occasion, and must have left her smile and personality at the door. Food was just okay, seating was too packed, the noise level was extreme, and there was a general feeling of assembly line food service. Not what we experienced on previous visits. Might return for lunch someday in the distant future when memory has faded...certainly not for dinner."

  • "Over and over Dante's surprises and delights. Just because you go on a Friday night (and you better have reservations) you don't have to order fish. This Friday, which is our go to restaurant for date night, I had cauliflower tortellini and my wife had the swordfish. Both dishes were so good, each of us was reluctant to share a bite with the other. I wait for the first time I will be disappointed over a dish at Dante's, but in three years of habitual dining there, I have yet to have this happen. How does Nick Strawhecker do it?"

  • "Our service we received was outstanding! Our waiter was very attentive! The salad was fabulous! I had the greens with the lemon thyme dressing."

  • "My second trip to Dante. We tried some new things and they were all tasty! Our waitress was wonderful. The noise level was conducive to us having good conversation !!"

  • "We had the Diavolo pizza this time. Outstanding. Nice and spicy without being overwhelming."

  • "A great spot for date night. The pizza, which is not your typical loaded down, bread-y mess, was excellent. They have an extensive Italian wine list. On the Monday we were there, their special was a pizza and bottle of acceptable house wine for $24. The service was outstanding without being overbearing."

  • "I am from Italy and I really enjoyed the true taste of a pizza napoletana. Kudos to the individual who opened this place. A true taste from home and I am going to eat pizza here very often. They even have two types of beer from my hometown in Italy and the beloved Italian delicacy of lardo. Thank for the taste of home. The serving staff was efficient, engaging and very polite. I highly recommended."

  • "Again and again this gem of a restaurant provides inventive and consistently terrific food. The specials are truly special giving a wonderful variety to the constantly changing weekly selections. This week, it was the snapper. I never order snapper but because it was a special, I went for it. Now I know I'll be tempted to order it at other restaurants. But I know I'll be disappointed. Dante's set the bar high for all other Omaha restaurants that few will match. What a great restaurant this is."

  • "We had SUCH a nice evening while celebrating my son's 24th birthday. Emma, our server, took great care of us all evening. We made reservations for a group of 10 but only 8 showed up. The restaurant had our table all ready when we came and allowed us to keep all our space. We had a nice long table in the back next to the window. They even gave us permission to bring our own birthday cake....which made the celebration even better. It was Half Price Wine night and we ordered several bottles. We ordered appetizers, pizzas, a few dinner specials and wine. It all arrived on time and was hot. I even loved the restaurant's plates! Fun night. Thanks, Dante!"

  • "Brought my sister here from out of town. Everything was great as we have come to expect from Dante. We had to wait a few minutes past our reservation so they gave us a free appetizer, which was great customer service. I tried a new dish and loved it. Have never been disappointed here. I only wish they would bring the wood-fired chocolate cake back!"

  • "We love Dante's!! Great pizza, authentic thin-crust style and creative ingredients. Love that ingredients are locally sourced. Wine list is awesome - all Italian so I needed some help with the choices, but the server was prepared and made a great suggestion. casual and fun!"

  • "The restaurant was very loud and we could not hear each other talk. Also the waitress did not even tell us the specials of the evening.. good thing I knew the specials before we went."

  • "Love the pizza!! Unique flavors you can't find anywhere else. Wood fired crust cooked to perfection. Excellent appetizers, and wines to compliment any meal you choose. Most of their ingredients are fresh and come from local companies and farmers which is great. If you are looking for not your average pizza this is where you should go."

  • "Have been to Dante several times - this visit was very disappointing. Had to wait for about 20 minutes before a waitress came to our table (and only because we asked the hostess to check on what was taking so long - restaurant was half empty). Arrival of food took a long time. Others who came in after us received their food first (pizza). Service was rehearsed/phoney - not 'real' as it was before. Pizza was so-so - was soggy this time. Meatballs were very good as before - but please bring a spoon when this is served - hard to get the sause out of the bowl with a fork or a piece of the bread provided (have mentioned this to the staff before). We will go again but hope that it will be better during our next visit."

  • "The pizza the best in Omaha, Ne. The Cortona pizza is just fabulous, I ask the chili not be on Pizza. Would have that pizza again. Love the Brussels sprouts. I recommend if not want to be in bar area (can be loud) ask to sit on the lower level."

  • "Wonderful food, attentive service. We very much enjoyed ourselves. So glad we made reservations, it was crazy busy. That said, we were well taken care of. Loved the short rib and the crispy mackerel. We'll be back to try the other great items on the menu."

  • "My wife and I started going to Dante's for the pizza...truly works of art. As we keep going, we are now more adventurous with the truly gourmet, authentic Italian food."

  • "Although known for their pizza, don't overlook their always interesting pasta offerings. I recently enjoyed the beet tortellini with fennel fronds. The red beet filling, a nod to the upcoming holiday, was smooth and slightly sweet, and the color was obvious throughout the translucent pasta. Our meals there always begin with the house-made ricotta/toasted bread/seasonal preserves appetizer. My husband enjoyed one of their meat, mushroom combo pizzas, and for dessert the cheesecake with blueberry sauce. Made with their ricotta, it was very light, and not too sweet. I opted for the Bombollini, mini fried-to-order donuts with sugar and cinnamon-enough to share. We were seated above the bustling open kitchen-fun to watch the constant activity."

  • "We took a first time diner, and he was impressed. Yes, the pizza is top notch, but so are the appetizers and the sides. This is one of Omaha's best Italian restaurants, and remains at the top of its game."

  • "I lived in Naples Italy for 4 years and LOVED their pizza, but never thought we would get that authentic flavor and taste again. Dante's delivers! THE best most authentic Neapolitan pizza this side of the Atlantic."

  • "Good service, especially authentic Italian dinner fare, great wine list, but also nice quality inexpensive wine at happy hour."

  • "This is the best wine list in Omaha! It is diverse with many Italian selections and affordable. Their pizza is authentic Napoli style with perfect toppings. We always get the brussels sprouts because they are deliciously unique. You can tell their ingredients are top quality."

  • "Always enjoy Dante! We had family in from out of town so selected it as a unique & tasty dining spot due to location and high quality of food. They loved it! And were impressed by the beer list. My friend reccomended the brussel sprouts and I totally agree! Plus the Greens Salad & pizza were a perfect. I will definitely return in the near future."

  • "We go to Dantes frequently. It seems like nearly every time Chef Nick has something new to try. This week the vegetable soup was amazing. And new made in house deserts will pop up from time to time. It never gets old going to Dante's. And the pizza? The best."

  • "I only get to Omaha a few times a year, but I always make it to Dante's. Great food and I love that much of it is local! Knowledgeable staff and nice wine list."

  • "The same in a good way. Consistently incredible quality and an ever changing and exciting menu. Makes you want to order three or four entrees. My recommendation is to go early for supper, go to a long movie someplace, then return late evening and eat again. It's that good."

  • "The pizza was wonderful, not greasy, and the sausage we had was very flavorful. The waitress was quite helpful and kept our water glasses full. She was actually apologetic regarding the dessert, as we tasted an ingredient that was not mentioned in the description and she was unaware of as well. It was still very good, just surprising. The restaurant actually gave us our dessert for free since the ingredient was not mentioned on the menu and the wait staff was unaware as well. That was unnecessary but very kind. I would highly recommend it to anyone liking northern Italian cuisine. I would like to return to try other entrees as well."

  • "If you are a fan of REAL pizza made the authentic way, you have to try Dante's. It is my favorite pizza joint in town. Their products are sourced locally, which I love, and many of their cheeses and meats are made or cured IN HOUSE. You are getting fantastic fresh ingredients crafted into a magnificently authentic pie. They have a great wine and beer list, knowledgeable staff and great management. The ambience is both cozy and energetic. My must haves are the house-made ricotta and the Amore di Carne pizza. I'm getting hungry now just thinking about it."
