  • "The look and feel of a European wine bar, with nice selection of moderately priced wines. Some food options are a little pricey and the salami on the tasting board wasn't the best. The cheeses and cured ham and beef were very nice. When we asked a question about the wine, the manager came over right away and just to be sure we were satisfied with the answer, we got a after dinner drinks on the house. The desserts were just right, and the gnocchi are out of this world."

  • "Great wine and attentive staff, but the food was way too salty. I tasted everyone's dish at the table and all had too much salt in them.Everyone at the table agreed. I think it is a nice spot for wine and a cheese plate, but do not order off the main course. Overpriced for most things. Wine flights are nice. Paid $40 for a $12 bottle of wine. I know there is a mark up, but that seemed like a lot. Would prefer buying a $40 bottle of wine and going to the cheese store and spending $30 for three good cheeses, than the almost $400 for a dinner for three."

  • "My husband & I took advantage of the Prix Fixe menu on a Tuesday. To start off, we shared a small meat & cheese board which by the time we finished that we were already full. For the $30 Prix Fixe, my husband chose the salad to start which he felt had a bit too much dressing, the Coq Au Vine as an entree which he said was very good, and the flourless chocolate torte which was delicious. I had a navy bean soup to start which was very light and a touch under seasoned. My entree was pan fried skate which was atop the most decadent puréed potatoes with capers & some other green vegetable. Absolutely delicious! And my dessert was Panna cotta with slices of blood orange which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal."

  • "Tried this for the first time, even though I have lived in the neighborhood for years. Knew from friends to expect amazing food, wine, and it did not disappoint! The cheese plate was incredible, as was everything we tried from the small plates menu. Professional waitstaff and the exposed kitchen were incredible. It was fascinating to watch the chefs work. The only detractor is that we were elbow to elbow with the tables on either side of us and eventually, we ended up in conversation with each of the other parties because they overheard what we were discussing (privately).... Wish it had been a bit more intimate."

  • "My wife and I wanted to enjoy a leisurely Sunday evening dinner. We were handed the menu immediately upon being seated and about ten minutes later the waitress asked us if we were ready to order. We indicated that we would prefer to wait and to order some wine before dinner. Note: we were not asked if we wanted anything to drink. Two more people then asked us if we were ready to order our food and each time we requested to wait. Empty classes were barely set down before being removed and dishes were quickly taken away. The owner spent most of her time staring at a computer screen with her back to the patrons. I would still recommend based on the food and wine, but the service needs to come up to those standards."

  • "The only thing you need to know is that this restaurant should be on your top 5 list of restaurants to dine at before you die. No matter what you order, it will be delicious. The prix fixe menu on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is the best deal in town. Don't forget to pair one of the many fabulous wines from their notable list."

  • "Best tasting boards: cheese and meats are consistently superb. Perfect pate- Well deserved Michelin star. Skate cooked to perfection as well. Salad is so well dressed, it seems like each leaf is delicately coated. Wines are suggested and paired with precision. I normally rate the food with 5 stars, but a few of the entrees arrived a bit cold. Too delicious to send back-"

  • "On a sleepy corner of southern Forest Hills sits one of the crown jewels of the restaurant canon in NYC. The staff is professional and courteous. Drinks at the bar are delightful and if you decided to eat at the bar, it would be a delightful experience. Once seated, the wait staff is very attentive and not intrusive. Once you have ordered , the feast begins. Every meal I have ever had had DB is exceptional. The quality of the food and the presentation propel this restaurant to the forefront of any other in Queens and to the top of the pack in NYC. I will be back again soon. And if you are someone like me that never orders chicken out, be sure to order the Chicken Under a Brick....you will make an exception to your rule!"

The choices were innovative ( my pasta with uni was WONDERFUL), the wines were excellent and fairly priced and the service was more than attentive.   • "This place came well recommended so perhaps my expectations were too high Food was great but we had an issue with my wife's hanger steak. It came out severely undercooked and when returned again, almost the same. Staff and manager seemed intent on defending the chef rather than understand how raw e steak was cooked That said, all other dishes were great and two wines we had by the glass were excellent We will definitely go back, but I'd recommend you order e steak at least one level from your regular order to be happiest"

Lively environment, excellent food, and good bar scene. I loved everything I ordered and everything my guests ordered. The grilled calamari, hanger steak, and skate were especially amazing.   • "For Manhattan prices and attitude, I'd rather stay in Manhattan. On the plus side, the wine list is creative, well selected and well priced. They seem to try a bit too hard on the food (which is not remotely well priced as the wines), several of our dishes had one too many ingredients. Server turned us off with an attitude that suggested we're in a temple of fine dining and should be appropriately respectful."

  • "I made reservations here twice. The first time we went I had a bad duck entree. I have never in my life complained about restaurant food, nor have I ever not finished my duck, but I ended up sending it back. The waitress was nice and my husband's meal was good. They also comp'd us the duck which was nice. The second time I made a reservation I had totally forgotten that this was the place with the bad duck. By the time we got there with my in-laws we decided to give it another shot. Everything was good but we had clearly been asking the waitress if things were grain-free and she said that our entrees were. However, my meal was served on a bed of rice which was not listed on the menu. I ate around it and it was all good."

  • "I must say Danny Brown was wonderful. we went for my moms birthday. She did not want to go to Manhattan so the hard part was going to be finding a great place with Manhattan quality in Queens. the service was very friendly and knowledgeable. They were warm and professional all at once. The goal from the moment we walked in to when we left was "aim to please". I am thrilled for Danny Brown. Everyone around looked happy. the ambiance was special in a nut shell. lastly the wine list was extensive but not expensive. we had to bottles of red under $100 from France. I will certainly go back. this place was delicious, elegant , and just plain old special. Make reservations and be "wowed"."

We had an excellent (although very rich) meal with some friends from Manhattan and very much enjoyed the open kitchen, that is always a treat. The service was relaxed, efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food in a relaxed setting."

  • "When you want a superb dinner perfectly cooked without any attitude, this is the place to go. At our last dinner we had a fabulous brussel sprouts salad which we split, for entrees the salmon and steak, and then the carrot cake for desert which is divine. The wine list is very reasonable and has some good wines at a price that will not empty your wallet. Well worth going out of your way to get to. If you are not using your own car, order a cab when you order desert."

  • "I have been to Danny Brown restaurant before so I knew this was a great place. I took my friend there and she could not stop talking about how nice this place was, how tasty the food was and how she liked the overall restaurant experience. I used to always meet my friends in Manhattan and we would dine there, but now I tell my friends to come to Queens and they are never disappointed. My friend ordered the special which was filemignon that night- the stake was so tender that it just melted in your mouth. I ordered duck breast that was excellent as well. For dessert we had expresso cream brûlée- yum!!! Overall we had a great time at Danny Brown. Will deffinately come back!"

  • "while the food was lovely, the portions were very small and the cost very expensive. the cheese platter with 6 cheeses for $37 had teeny tiny slice per cheese. also, this is a noted wine bar and they did NOT have a rose in stock nor serve pinot grigio by the glass which made for a most disappointing wine inventory for me. when i initially made the reservation it was for two and i altered it to add another guest. i was told that i was "lucky" they had a cancellation and could accomodate me but 45 mintues later. when we arrived the restaurant was totally empty and i wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. probably will not be a return visitor to this restaurant."

The wait staff knows their wine and makes excellent suggestions based upon what you are eating. This is definitely a special occasion place as it's can become very expensive quickly, but, it is definitely possible to keep the cost down."

  • "took a group from out of town here, they left saying it was some of the "best food they'd ever had." the two people who loved the place the most had the short rib agnoletti pasta (looked like little raviolis) and it was to die for. great food, it's just too bad the place is so tiny (and we were sitting by the window which unfortunately had a draft!)"

  • "This place is hopping and for the best reason ever. The food is sublime. Absolutely wonderful. We started with a beautiful sea trout appetizer that came with roasted black garlic, caper berries and a lovely tarragon sauce. Melt in your mouth. My husband had the hanger steak, medium rare, that was doused with just the right amount of shallot butter, and it was perfect. I had the linguine carbonara with sea urchin, because I've never met a sea urchin I didn't want to eat. It was so delicious that I had to stop myself from running my fingers around the bowl to get to every last drop. Paired our food with one of the great bottles of wine on their excellent wine list and couldn't have left any happier. We must go back to try everything else!"

  • "Danny Brown Wine Bar is a small restaurant. You will hear the conversation at the tables around you and they will hear yours. I ordered one of the wine flights but didn't really like it. My husband's flight was a lot better. I had the fish (which was bit salty) and it was served with a weird mound of lentils. My meal was okay; but, I would not recommend it as I can't even remember the type of fish I ordered. My husband ordered the steak and seemed to really like it. The dessert was good but not great. But, for the area, this is VERY good option."
