  • "I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now---finally got there & it was worth it! Great staff & the food was really quite delicious---from the small bites to the big bites, worth every calorie/penny"

  • "NEVER disappointed. A wonderful experience, as always. Thank goodness for danny brown in our neighborhood."

  • "I've never had a meal that wasn't great at this restaurant. It is truly very fine French cuisine in a very warm ambiance with lovely hosts. Last night I had one of the most magnificent lobster dishes I've ever had anywhere... one of the specials of the night. Unshelled, in a complex sauce that complemented the lobster better than any I've tasted, made festive by delicate vegetables, tiny mushrooms, and agnolotti that quite literally melted on your tongue...this description just cannot convey the beauty of this dish, but I just can't find adequate words. If you haven't been to this cozy little French bistro, you're depriving yourself."

  • "Danny Brown Wine Bar provides a place to relax and enjoy great wine, delicious food, whether you stop in for a glass of wine and cheese tasting or have a hankering for the small or large plates they offer, you will not be disappointed. Flights of wine are available to expand your palate. We enjoyed a cheese tasting of 3 cheeses, taleggio, valdeo and a special cheese on the menu that evening along with a summer flight of white wine. Delicious! Went on to have a fish special of turbot with a chanterelle mushroom sauce that was out of this world. The only negative is that we had an early dinner that competed with a happy hour crowd at the bar that was loud with the bartender adding pantomime to his talent for serving drinks. Distracting!"

  • "We moved to Queens a year ago and have frequented many restaurants, but Danny Brown's is superior in every way. Great food, service, ambiance We will definitely be back"

  • "I ve always looked forward to dining at Danny Browns over the years, and I recently realized that each time the dining experience exceeds my expectations....whether is the a la carte, prix fixe or Mother's Day menu...the food is delicious...and if you like your wine, this is the place to go...whether by the bottle, glass or ordering a flight...and at a fair price. I love this place."

  • "We were looking for a place to eat dinner in the area. Based upon reviews on this and other sites we narrowed our selections to two and ultimately chose Danny Brown's. We made a 5:30 reservation and arrived around 5:20. The drapes were down and the place appeared a little small and worn from the outside. At 5:30 the drapes were raised, the door was opened, and we were welcomed inside by one of the staff. Once inside, we realized how wrong were our first impressions. The restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside, and is very nicely decorated. There also is a great looking bar. The food was very well presented and tasty. All our dishes were excellent. My only disappointment was with the cheese tasting appetizer. Too small."

  • "I wish I could go here more often but I hate dining alone and most of my friends are in Manhattan. I was so glad to see Danny's untouchable gazpacho on the menu. Trust me, you have never had better. The marriage of flavors is indescribable....with that great minted yogurt on top. I had not been in a while, so had to have the chicken under a brick...this from a woman who never orders chicken in a restaurant...except for here. Crispy outside/succulent and moist inside as always. If you've never been there, have this dish your first time. The mascarpone cheesecake I'd never had so had to try. I love mascarpone, but most cheesecakes taste the same to me so I forego them. Not this one! If you haven't been, go!"

  • "Started off with charcuterie and cheeses... all terrific. Then had the pappardelle with lamb, mint, and ricotta; less terrific. The menu neglected to mention the dish had olives. Typically don't mind them, but they totally overwhelmed the rest of the dish. Great wine list, well-priced. Overall still great!"

  • "This was my third time at the restaurant. It was chosen for a birthday dinner because it is close to where my father lives (I live far away), everyone attending (including those others who traveled to get there) thought it worth the trip. The food is outstanding--not just for Queens but for ANYWHERE! My mouth waters just thinking about the lobster poached in butter that I had that night (or, for that matter, the skate that I had a year ago. Despite the casual ambiance that suggests neighborhood wine bar, Danny Brown's is also worthy of being a "destination" restaurant."

  • "Danny Brown Wine Bar and Kitchen just celebrated its 8th anniversary of operation. For eight years the restaurant has consistently delivered exceptional food, wine and hospitality. To dine here is a special experience, one that is always treasured. Not only is the food outstandingly delicious but simply beautifully presented. Staff is attentive and kind and the ambience handsome and elegant. The chef owner has consistently developed classic favorites that locals have put on their "last meal on earth lists!" The latest, handmade eggplant ravioli with squash blossoms and a light tomato sauce. Michelin agrees and has already agreed they are stellar!"

  • "The Metropolitan Avenue surroundings in this less than beautiful part of Forest Hills tempers expectations, but you walk through the door of Danny Brown into a stylish and welcoming room anchored by a beautiful bar area and an open kitchen. The prix fixe dinner was excellent value: the salad simple and wonderfully dressed, the swordfish served flavorful and warm, the flourless chocolate cake perfect. If you have occasion to be in Forest Hills, make time for dinner at Danny Brown."

  • "Danny Brown's is a favorite of ours, and we have eaten here many times before. The décor is comfortable and relaxing, and the sconces and artwork create a soothing environment. This time was a bit disappointing. The menu is varied with something for everyone. However prices seem higher and portions seem smaller. The beet salad was a disappointment. The burger, on the other hand, was great - robust, delicious, and done to perfection. The wine choices are very good. We had a Malbec, which was delightful and enjoyed by all."

  • "Danny Brown's consistently offers the best relaxing cheese and charcuterie boards, hands-down! Superb selections, and wonderful small plates to add on for a hungrier patron. Staff are ALL wonderful and helpful ."

  • "First off, I love this place. Unfortunately, on Father's Day they just dropped the ball. Everything was off and I am angry it had to happen on a special day. My dad ordered the veal, and it was tough. The beans in our calamari appetizer were too hard, when they should be soft and creamy. My swordfish dish needed more salt. The butter served with bread was not room temperature and therefore too hard to spread. I don't know what happened, but it left a bad taste."

  • "Each time we return to Danny Brown's something has changed and always for the better. This time there were cheese tasting platters as well as cured meats tasting platters:) Add to that their always attentive service, knowledgeable staff, many geographically diverse wine offerings by the glass, as well as the bottle, small plates as well as larger, and use of fresh locally grown produce. Love it!!!!!!!!"

  • "I've been to this Jewel of a restaurant a few times now for dinner and it truly is a wonderful experience. The service and wine list is excellent, the ambience is vibrant and alive but fitting for a Saturday night out for two as well. The kitchen is open which creates a more casual Atmosphere in a restaurant that serves 5 star food. My husband and I shared a 5 cheese cheese board and reminisced about France and Spain. The homemade Pastas were perfectly cooked and the desserts were delicious and a sweet way to end the meal. The dessert wines (I had a red dessert wine flight) was fun and complimented our sweets. Will go again and again but not too often, as it is easier To drop a good amount of $... Then again, It's Worth every Penny!"

  • "Been here several times. When it comes to the food it's never a cliffhanger. You know it's going to be excellent every time you go to Danny's. The service was attentive, but it took longer than usual for the food to be served even though the place wasn't packed when my party of four were there. Nonetheless it's a really nice dining experience. "

  • "My wife and I just moved to Forest Hills and were looking for a really nice restaurant. After reading the reviews on Open Table, we tried Danny Brown. The reviews were 100 correct. Excellent food - the Beet Salad was really nice - the Chicken Under the Brick was cook just right. It is a small place and I'm glad we had a reservation. Will definitely be back."

  • "The staff accommodated my error in making reservations despite it being a busy Saturday night. The food was wonderful, and the service was friendly and knowledgeable, though we could have used a bit more timely check in at a couple phases of the meal--missing condiments took a bit of waving to correct. The menu has nice variety and the duck comfit was one of the best duck dishes I've ever had. Will come back again."

  • "This is the third time I've lived in Forest Hills and the third time I went to Danny Browns. It is as good as I remembered! A real neighborhood gem that made me think of Manhattan! Friendly and accommodating service, lovely atmosphere and very high quality ingredients. Not the largest menu and many things I don't eat but there's always something to choose from. I will DEFINITELY to back again and again. It's a lovely place."

  • "The look and feel of a European wine bar, with nice selection of moderately priced wines. Some food options are a little pricey and the salami on the tasting board wasn't the best. The cheeses and cured ham and beef were very nice. When we asked a question about the wine, the manager came over right away and just to be sure we were satisfied with the answer, we got a after dinner drinks on the house. The desserts were just right, and the gnocchi are out of this world."

  • "This is a cozy place with an excellent wine list. The staff is very knowledgeable and makes wonderful wine suggestions. The food is amazing. I have had brunch, dinner and also gone for cured meats/cheese. I've never been disappointment with the food, nor the staff. It's a gem."

  • "Great wine and attentive staff, but the food was way too salty. I tasted everyone's dish at the table and all had too much salt in them.Everyone at the table agreed. I think it is a nice spot for wine and a cheese plate, but do not order off the main course. Overpriced for most things. Wine flights are nice. Paid $40 for a $12 bottle of wine. I know there is a mark up, but that seemed like a lot. Would prefer buying a $40 bottle of wine and going to the cheese store and spending $30 for three good cheeses, than the almost $400 for a dinner for three."

  • "My husband & I took advantage of the Prix Fixe menu on a Tuesday. To start off, we shared a small meat & cheese board which by the time we finished that we were already full. For the $30 Prix Fixe, my husband chose the salad to start which he felt had a bit too much dressing, the Coq Au Vine as an entree which he said was very good, and the flourless chocolate torte which was delicious. I had a navy bean soup to start which was very light and a touch under seasoned. My entree was pan fried skate which was atop the most decadent puréed potatoes with capers & some other green vegetable. Absolutely delicious! And my dessert was Panna cotta with slices of blood orange which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal."

  • "Tried this for the first time, even though I have lived in the neighborhood for years. Knew from friends to expect amazing food, wine, and it did not disappoint! The cheese plate was incredible, as was everything we tried from the small plates menu. Professional waitstaff and the exposed kitchen were incredible. It was fascinating to watch the chefs work. The only detractor is that we were elbow to elbow with the tables on either side of us and eventually, we ended up in conversation with each of the other parties because they overheard what we were discussing (privately).... Wish it had been a bit more intimate."

  • "This continues to be one of the best Queens/Forest Hills restaurants, with consistency in every aspect. A smallish but very well chosen wine lists gives it that extra push."
