Our biggest complaint was that at the beginning of the meal we told our waitress all 3 courses we wanted to order. We were very excited to try the pot o pumpkin dessert that was being served to tables next to us. We actually knew everything we wanted to order prior to arriving for dinner. She took down our entire order but come time for dessert, she told us that they just ran out! the bread pudding substitute was horrible!

Great Restaurant! We were surprised by the menu. It had fantastic selections with lots of variety to suit anyone. Included "green" selections for people out there with different dietary preferences. The menu offered many "modern" selections. We didn't expect this from this restaurant. We have lived on the Cape for years and this is the first time coming. Now we will be sure to come again! Our waiter was great and had a great knowledge of the menu to offer suggestions.

Stayed at the Daniel Webster Inn w/ my mother & husband so we decided to try the restaurant. We were expecting great service and high quality food but were a bit disappointed. The food was good, with one miss. My husband ordered pad thai, which would have been okay except that instead of the typical bean sprouts that come with pad thai to add crunch, the chef used alfalfa sprouts which made no sense. As for the service, our server seemed really inexperienced. She took my order, then returned saying there weren't any of that entrée left. Then, after we were finished eating our salads she came back saying they were out of my mother's entrée. Not sure if she forgot to put our order in? We might try it again but don't order the pad thai!

Our visit was to celebrate my mother's birthday and it has always been one of her favorite places but this visit was different. We made a reservation but when we got there asked to sit by the windows of the atrium and were told these needed to be reserved in advance- no one was sitting there all night. The server was terrible - he had a total of 3 tables while we were there - our had 4 people, another with 4 and the final with 1 - whenever you asked for anything it was answered with it has to wait since he ha other guests. Waited 15 minutes for water and bread. Also our food sat on his tray as he took the food order of the other table of 4. The entrees were subpar- dry and not remarkable. Will avoid in the future and find another go to.

PERFECT EVENING WITH MOM AND DAD DEFINATELY A SPECIAL OCCASSION RESTAURANT...LOTS OF FOOD AND WINE CHOICES AT BOTH REASONABLE AND HIGHER END PRICING. CHEF VERY CREATIVE....WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE APPETIZING VEGETABLES NOT ONES THAT JUST ADD COLOR TO PLATE IE BROCCALATINI THAT WAS SERVED "TOO AL-DENTE"....SEEMED RAW TO ME...SENT IT BACK TO COOK MORE AND WAS STILL TOO HARD. if A CUSTOMER SENDS BACK A VEGETABLE THAT WANTS MORE COOKING THEN COOK IT TILL ITS SOFT. OLDER CLIENTELLE WERE RAISED WITH VEGETABLES COOKED UNTIL SOFT. SERVICE AND FOOD OTHER WISE WERE OUTSTANDING AND THE MENU WAS VERY CREATIVE. KUDOS CHEF NICE JOB.

  • Sunday Brunch - DISAPPOINTING
    Lunchtime
    Dined on 10/5/2014
The musty odor upopn entering should have been a clue. Contrary to their website info, only a brunch buffet was being served in the dining room to the tune of $25.95! We opted for the brunch to be in the dining room rather than the dark, dreary Tavern. The buffet food was obviously sitting out for a while and since we were there for the second hour it was very disappointing (especially for a special occasion). Make your own salad, a few peel and eat shrimp, waffles drying out under a heat lamp, summer squash swimming in butter/oil; some crushed-over tortellini/chicken dish; tail end pieces of a salmon dish; and some sort of "seafood" filled crepe. Cheap, tasteless cafeteria food. This place needs a complete overhaul.

Old Cape Cod staple. Haven't been in years but decided to give it a try. Happily surprised at fantastic menu, including demi portions of entrees which was a welcome surprise! Our waiter, Bob, was a seasoned pro who provided the best service I have had in years, no matter how many stars a restaurant has! He suggested items for our meal, as well as wines that were spot on! The end to our meal was delicious, made on site, desserts and a fantastic cup of strong coffee (not burnt)! He even told us about their VIP program which he got us signed up for (and even got me a brochure to their spa when I mentioned that I didn't realize they had one)! Plan on heading back there on a regular basis! Best meal I've had on the Cape in years! Kudos!

My roast chicken was tough, tasteless and messy too eat. I've had better tasting, more tender and a larger portion for $2.79 from a Stop N Shop. To be fair the sauce was delicious - unfortunately it did not permeate the chicken. In contrast, my wife's halibut was excellent. My review of the food is based on the chicken. The vegetation motif of the dining room along with the singer at the bar results in an ambience rating of 5 stars.

Dinner at the Dan'l Webster is a fine dining experience! Our waiter, Chris, made us feel very comfortable. When I questioned the dairy content of a certain soup, he gave me options. I chose the Cauliflower soup. Fantabulous. The option to order "demi" portions on many of the entrees is a great idea. Much less waste this way. We did not go into the bar, but it looked like it was hopping!

Chose due to Open Table connection & prix fixe menu. Enjoyed scallop cake & tuna tostada for apps & fruits of the sea & timbale of sole for entrees. Mango sorbet & grapenut pudding for dessert. All good. Regular menu quite extensive & tempting but this week's vacation was about trying new restaurants w/an eye towards frugality, ergo the prix fixe route. Our waitress, Nancy B., was friendly, yet polished & very professional. Ate in main dining room in cushioned high-backed chairs overlooking water garden & lovely. Tavern also looked very inviting for crisp fall or snowy winter evening. All-in-all a wonderful surprise, not knowing if "old school" would = "dated", but clearly they know what they are doing. Elegance reigned.

Lots of ambiance - there is a "Tavern" dining room and a "Conservatory" dining room. The menu is extensive and creative, but some dishes do not live up to the hype. The biggest problem we had was VERY slow service - no one seemed to be in charge, and the meal dragged on for over 2-hours (Monday night). The Inn was fairly busy, and there was obviously some big deal going on in Sandwich, as when we exited there were hordes of people, police, detours, etc. The Daniel Webster is "good," but not excellent.
