Diner Reviews
  • "We took our adult kids, and my father-in-law on a weeknight. My FIL had never had tapas ("topless?") and had no idea what to expect. The food was great, service was great and we all had a fun, delicious meal. It worked particularly well with folks with different appetite levels, since we were paying for everyone anyway. Everyone left full. The creme brulee flight was the only thing we had that didn't measure up. We will definitely return on our next trip."

  • "Food was good and unusual. New inexperienced waiter, but gave us credit."

  • "This restaurant is more like a lounge. They offer dishes from all over the world. The small plates are awesome. I recommend the soup flight, tuna lettuce cups and fish tacos. The ambiance is perfect for a girls night out or a celebration. Excellent bar scene! Enjoy!!"

  • "Really enjoyed the duck wings and Japanese hibachi filet. Really tender calamari dish. Disappointed by no beer on tap."

  • "Food was outstanding. We had the "Big Small Plates" and shared with our group. Oysters were our favorite."

  • "In the midst of beach shops and casual beach bar restaurants. Nice surprise to find it. A trendy, upscale feel, given the decor and contemporary interior design. Atmosphere was fun and music was great! Waiter was very helpful in explaining how food was prepared and recommended ways to order. On HH, there are many choices in places to eat. Unique menu, atmosphere and contemporary feel, sets Daniel's apart. Although too cold to eat on the courtyard patio during our stay, the outdoor eating would be great as well. Great job bringing contemporary lighting, seating and feel outside. We seldom return to the same restaurant given all the choices on the island, but Daniel's will be a planned stop on all of our future stays."

  • "My wife and I visited Daniels on a date night. It was a very unique atmosphere in the restaurant. Our server was outstanding! The food was beyond delicious! Very intriguing presentation and taste. I had ribeye steak and added lobster. My wife had the poleynesian steak and added lobster. Perfectly cooked! We also enjoyed the fondue dessert. We will definitely return!"

  • "I literally fantasized about eating at Daniel's again while I was deployed to Afghanistan. After nine months of waiting, Daniel's did not disappoint. The variety of dishes/drinks and the knowledgeable and attentive staff make it worth every penny. We had the Knafeh for dessert this time; I had no idea what I was eating, but it was the most amazing combination of flavors I have ever consumed. Can't wait to return."

  • "Even though we had a table reserved at Daniel's for well over a month with Open Table, we still had to wait 20 minutes. We received an apology and nothing more. This is the first experience that I have had like this when booking through Open Table. I probably would not have even mentioned this, but I made the reservations with our 2 grandkids in mind. Daniel's has a good small plate selection, but I really believe that if you have small kids, you should try another more family-friendly restaurant while visiting Hilton Head. Daniel's should be saved for an adult night out. However, the fondue dessert was fun for everyone."

  • "Loved the food at Daniels! Great change from full meal deals. Delicious tapas style that were enough to share with my husband and daughter. All of Mitch's recommendations were spot on. Ahi tuna lettuce wraps were our favorite. Trio of soups all delicious, lamp kebab tasty, tacos yummy. The decor is different...lots of wood and red mood lighting, but don't be deterred if you think it is only a nightlife hot spot, or else you'll miss some delicious good eats!!"

  • "Food preparation & quality good. Value for money spent poor. Noise level and ambience low for a quality dining experience"

  • "Our dinner at Daniel's was a very pleasant surprise. This restaurant right off the beach serves excellent tapas style food. The Caesar salads are creamy and delicious, and the corn chowder was among the best I've ever had. The entrees are small but very satisfying - the fish tacos being a real standout. Service was friendly and efficient, and the dark and cozy atmosphere set a perfect tone."

  • "Used the open table app to find reservations and stumbled across this restuarant. The place is a neat little joint in a tourist area. Romantic atmosphere. The food was Greta, well presented. Good portions for the "tapas" style. Service was outstanding. Price fair for what we got."

  • "One of the best dining experiences I have had on Hilton Head Island, the food and service was excellent. Would recommend it to anyone visiting the island."

  • "Invited a couple who wanted to see if this would be a good restaurant to recommend to their adult children. The answer was definitely "yes". But we had a great time too, as usual. An interesting cocktail , mine was a habanero Margarita, was welcome as we read the varied menu. It was two-for-one tapas night, and it was hard to limit ourselves to 2 choices each. We loved the presentations and the food. They were creative, sometimes exotic and really delicious. Hate to admit it, but we added two desserts at the end. The staff is friendly and attentive and we can't wait to go back."

  • "My wife and I dined on Asian tapas spicy Pad Thai, Dragon Lobster, calamari, and a salad. We eat tapas frequently around the country and these were some of the tastiest we've had."

  • "For some reason, I have always missed coming to Daniels on my trips to Hilton Head island. I won't ever make that mistake again. To begin, the decor was extraordinary. Hand worked woodwork all done by the owner is amazing! But you don't go to a restaurant for the woodwork! That said, the food was even more amazing. The chef, Manuel, creates interesting dishes from all over the world. The mix of flavors is quite a wonderful experience They call their servings big small plates and it is well described I thought the portions were leaning toward big rather than small. Daniels is not to be missed. Ask for Mark as your waiter he was very helpful guiding us through the many great dishes!"

  • "Wife and I have gone to HH last four winters and make it a point to go and have tapas at Daniels. The past years we would go back on several occasions as the food was great, this year though we only went once because the food and service was lacking.Service was rushed although courteous.Food was just ok.Maybe an off nite.We will return."

  • "The food is a wonderful surprise in its presentation and its uniqueness. We are foodies and is one of our favorite places on Hilton Head. We ordered from the small plate menu (avg. $10-12 each). The Hummus is outstanding and made fresh table side. We had a greek salad which was enough for 1-3 people based on appetite. We had the Shrimp n' Grits, Japanese Hibachi Filet, Fried Oysters, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Salmon Sliders- all very good with exceptional rave reviews on the first three items. We ended with the Bread Pudding of the night-Buttered Rum, Orange and Chocolate Lava Cake, and the Creme Brûlée Trio-also very good. If you are looking to please your palate and try new flavors/experiences, Daniel's is definitely a place to try."

  • "The staff at Daniel are welcoming. We sat at the bar for half-price apps. When the wine that I ordered was not available, I was offered an upgrade for the same price. The menu is extensive and the food tastes fresh and clean. Although we did not feel rushed, we would have liked a little more time between dishes. We are definitely going back, but only for the half-price offerings. At full price, I expect a more elegant atmosphere."

  • "We ate early at Daniel's so it was much more of an intimate feel. We were in the mood for Mediterranean. The hummus prepared tableside was to die for! I ate the lamb and my boyfriend ate the grouper. The entire meal was worth the drive to the other end of the island. We would definitely eat there again next year."

  • "This is the second time that I've been to Daniels and the food is superb. Everything that we ate was scrumptious - the hummus platter is gigantic and made at the table (never seen that before), the cinnamon lamb meatballs are delectable. Our waiter was helpful and knowledgeable. The only thing that was strange wais that the restaurant was empty - maybe most people were dining outside. This restaurant is a gem that shouldn't be overlooked."
