Diner Reviews
  • "Daniels is probably our favorite restaurant on the Island. The food is always fabulous. This time got the margarita pizza- it has an amazing balsamic drizzle, the polynesian steak (perfect blend of sweetness with a soy marinade), a steak dish with tomato and mozzarella (the only critique would be not to deep fry the mozzarella, but serve it uncooked) and fried oysters. For dessert we shared the creme brûlée flight and the fondue. I was not a fan of the creme brûlée, as I like mine smoother. The fondue was excellent. We had both a chocolate pot and dulche de leche. This was served with strawberries, banana, pineapple and marshmallows. What was really cool was a small kettle in the middle to toast the marshmallows before dipping."

  • "We've been to Daniels twice before and the food, service and ambience were excellent. We were quite disappointed this time, although the food was still delicious. Our table was in a back corner and the noise level was very loud. We felt a bit forgotten way back there, because the service was slow. For the experience this time, we felt it was very overpriced. We will not be returning."

  • "Interesting and varied menu. More than tapas, which might be confusing. Beautiful, good tasting food and drinks."

  • "Daniel's has an interesting, different atmosphere. We liked how the tables didn't seem too close together, and it felt as if we had more privacy. Seating is comfortable. The service was lacking. The servers were very friendly, but they seemed very understaffed and a little overwhelmed. It took a very long time before we even got water after sitting down, and then again a long time for us to receive our drinks. The menu was underwhelming. Dishes ranged from very good to less that appetizing. Drink selection was good, especially for martinis. Would probably only go back for drinks and maybe just light fare, not dinner."

  • "Awesome place. So glad we lucked into this one. Will make it our number one restaurant in hilton head!"

  • "This is so far the worst restaurant that I've dined at while on vacation in Hilton Head the last 8 years. The waiter/host was very unprofessional, I asked to please sit at the booth since my husband just had back surgery and it would be impossible for him to sit In a bar stool type chair. He responded by telling me the booth was already reserved. Hello, does an opentable reservation not count. Regardless the booth was still empty when we left. He then sat us at at booth that was the most beat up torn up seating I have ever seen in a restaurant. this place needs a major renovation.ITs dirty, smelly and very beat up. I realize this is a nightclub after hours but even nightclubs can be clean. The food is just mediocre at best. Will not return"

  • "This was our first time trying this restaurant while vacationing in HHI, and we were not disappointed. Our server, Matt, was very attentive and took great care of our family of five. We took his suggestion and shared a few big small plates, and the food was outstanding. We will definitely return on our next trip!"

  • "Great happy hour prices and notable for the extensive selection of tapas dishes from different cuisines. The spicy shrimp and calamari are delicious as well as the Ahi tuna lettuce wraps. We chose 5:00pm when the bar was quiet. Service was excellent and the wait staff knows the menu. It was my first visit, but would definitely return."

  • "the tapas were awesome. The presentation was really great and the food was excellent. Really a different experience, especially for a beach town. We were excited to not be eating the same ole beach town dishes....really great place. And the staff was super nice. Love this place. Highly recommend!!"

  • "Great food. We had a group of 10, some ordered full entrees that were delicious. Six of us shared small plates that were fantastic & lots of fun to taste many different things. Food presentation was wonderful. Service attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommend, especially for a group of 4-8 to share small plates."

  • "It seems like on Hilton Head you have several really good restaurants - but your options as to the type of food seems redundant. You either have seafood/low country, burger/wings/brew, steak/seafood, pizza/Italian or BBQ. Daniel's breaks the mold. The food is outstanding and the variety of choices is unusual. While the menu encompasses all the aforementioned, it's presented in different and delicious ways. And then there are several international dishes that really open up the options. Because you are also given the options of "big" small plates or entree sized dishes you can either sample many or settle in on a favorite. The food was outstanding and the service professional and attentive."

  • "Good variety of cuisines. Tapas style. Food is well above average. Staff very friendly. Interesting folks from variety of countries. Had dinner about 830. Sat in late night lounge area set up for dinner crowd. Good atmosphere. Definitely a winner!"

  • "Worst service on the island. It appeared that the bartender was also the cook. When we did finally get our food after over an hour wait, it was cold and disappointing. Not worth the money and time."

  • "Hilton Head has a lot of great restaurants, but they can be somewhat generic and interchangeable. Daniels definitely stands out for both food and setting. The interior is unique in the best way. The dark interior, set off by the red backlights on the bar area, provide a setting unlike anything else on the island. Additionally, the menu was varied and interesting. My wife and I ordered from the tapas menus, selecting dishes from each of the different ethic menus: American, Mediterranean, and Asian/Indian. The only issue, as it were, was that the portions were large for a tapas menu. My wife and I found ourselves getting full quickly, despite sharing each plate. I would have preferred a little smaller and cheaper portions."

  • "This restaurant is right in the middle of "tourist central" but once you get inside, you wouldn't know it. The menu was one-of-a-kind and the food was outstanding! The ribeye and filet were delicious, tableside hummus and goat cheese sofrito were to die for, and the fondue was indescribably wonderful. John was great (server) as were others that delivered food and refilled water glasses. Parking in the garage under the restaurant was plentiful. We are locals and will be back regularly!"

  • "We visited Daniel's for Fathers Day. Steaks were good, although 3 of 5 came out undercooked originally. Kid's pizza was good and my 10 year old daughter loved the bacon wrapped dates. Go before 6 to get the 25% happy hour discount on everything, it really pays off."

  • "Fourth visit to Daniels's, quickly becoming one of my favorite spots when I visit the island. Haven't experienced a bad pick yet on the menu, highly recommend the hummus, duck wings and Lamb kabobs."

  • "Daniel's was ok, but we wouldn't return. Choices were hit and miss. The cheese ravioli dish was excellent, but the Japanese noodle salad seemed heavy with a mayo taste/finish. Service was outstanding, but there are so many restaurants out there with better food."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a romantic evening at Daniel's while on our annual vacation on Hilton Head Island. The restaurant is located in a shopping center, but the interior was sleek and beautiful with nice lighting and modern décor. Daniel's feastures small plates with big flavors from all over the world. We started our meal with the humus platter, prepared table side. This was the best humus I have ever tasted! My husband and I next ordered the Lamb Tagine (sp.?) and the Angry Lobster with shrimp fried rice. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and delicious. We also ordered a couple of cocktails from their specialty drink menu and those were excellent as well. "

  • "Tried Daniel's at Hilton Head 2 nights ago and found it to be great. Had wondered since a couple of previous reviews on various sites were so-so. Didn't think any of the couple of complaints to be valid in the least!! It was NOT loud (possibly referring to outside tables, situated around a spot for entertainers/musicians, and THAT area was a bit loud). Inside was quiet and wonderful. Decor is WAY different but beautiful. Ultra-modern, quirky, and unique, but really cool and well-done. Service excellent--watched other servers & saw same. Large menu fantastic, tapas items from 3 areas of globe, plus a short traditional menu. Food awesome. I had Venezuelan Gaucho Filet, also Israeli Lamb Tangine. Both wonderful! Craving and will return!"

  • "We went to Daniel's as a group of 8. It was the perfect location for a large group. We were able to sample several "big small plates" of food themed from the various continents of the world. The drinks were creative and great! The ambiance is lively and hip, more like an urban lounge than a restaurant in Hilton Head. The only issue we had was the service. It was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was half-full. Yet, our waiter seemed frazzled and it took forever to get our drinks. He seemed as though he just kept forgetting to put in our orders with the bartender because the bar was not ready. We will likely return but make sure to get a drink at the bar before sitting down."

  • "Daniels was very different from other restaurants on Hilton Head Island, but I really liked it. We had the humus platter and chicken letuce wraps and the choc lava cake for dessert. Everything was great and the service was friendly and prompt"

  • "We went during Happy Hour on Sunday and, as usual, everything was phenomenal. Sat outside this time and tried some new Tapas along with our tried and true favorites. New this time were the Bacon-wrapped Dates which were out of this world. The combination of flavors that explode in your mouth couldn't be better."

  • "We were visiting Hilton Head on vacation and found Daniel's through Trip Advisor and OpenTable. The location was perfect as it was in walking distance of our hotel in Coligny Circle. We love tapas, so we were excited to try Daniel's -- and they did not disappoint. We tried 4 different tapas and each one was AMAZING -- Hummus platter, lamb tangine, angry shrimp and lobster fried rice, and ahi tuna lettuce wraps. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return on our next visit!"

  • "We were not sure if we wanted to enter since we had to pass by tee shirt and beach ball type shops but we did and found a really good place to dine. The calamari is outstanding and the duck wings were something you will not find elsewhere Go for it and enjoy. Very nice service too."

  • "This restaurant is tucked next to three other restaurants around a courtyard in Hilton Head. There was live music in the courtyard so we sat outside on the front patio, but the interior of the restaurant remained quiet and good for dining. They have a full bar and flight drinks-including wines and martinis. The food is smaller portions (tapas) but they have larger plates as well. They even have a tableside hummus that is awesome to watch them make and tasty to eat. I would recommend the Ahi Tuna Lettuce Wraps--very delicious. Overall, I was very happy with our dining experience but when it was time to close our checks the credit card system stopped working, we had to wait 20 minutes while they rebooted all the computer to pay."

  • "What pulled me in was the tapas. We didn't want a large meal after driving all day so "tapas" was important. The menu was varied between classic, asian, and continental. The salads are big enough to share, then the tapas is perfect. Will go again this trip"

  • "My husband and I had one of the most delicious meals ever. The staff, ambiance, food and coffee were amazing. I had a Living Social deal and knew it wouldn't work with the 25% off at the time we were there. We want to thank them for such an amazing evening out - we will be back many times and bringing friends and family with us. Thank you again! "

  • "Without trip advisor I don't think we ever would have known what Daniel's was like or visited the establishment mainly because it is located in a noisy, busy touristy area of Hilton Head. Having been there now I think it is a hidden gem. Our waiter Hassan was wonderful and attentive to us. The menu as other reviews state are larger tapas plates. There were so many different things to choose from and Hassan took his time to explain whatever we wanted to. We have been coming to Hilton Head for 10 yrs. and this was our first visit. Needless to say we will be back!!"

  • "Did not expect the small dining room with very contemporary tables and chairs, pulsating club music more in keeping with a late night disco. The bright red lava looking wall on one side behind the bar created an ambiance that was edgy, not soothing. Service was slow, but food was good once we got it. Pizza was only fair, but Polynesian steak was very good. "

  • "Food was good-we had the dates, ahi lettuce wraps, lamb gyro sliders, and hibachi steak. Plenty for the 2 of us; everything was good but I wouldn't order the dates again-not quite on par. Needed different bacon-less fatty, more salty. Interior is attractive-not something you expect to find in Hilton Head-more big city vibe. From the description we were expecting more of a fine dining establishment, but no white table cloths here. Music was too loud for our taste-Euro pop/beat. We'd definitely go back and explore more of the menu and would recommend to others, just be prepared for a somewhat different experience."
