Diner Reviews
  • "Located right on 8th between 45th & 46th, Daniela's is convenient to the theaters. While not a fancy place, the food was good and the staff very attentive. Bathroom was clean."

  • "I chose Daniela's because of the kid friendly menu and the proximity to the Neverlander. The food and service were quite good. It was not fancy and there was plenty for my two boys to choose from."

  • "My daughter and I were looking for a good Italian restaurant to go to following a show. I selected Daniela's from several suggestions provided by OpenTable. I had a good feeling about it right from the beginning and the reviews confirmed I had made a good choice. Our ex perience was even better than expected. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening."

  • "Service was attentive and quick. Food was bland. We had a pizza that was soggy in the center and a clam pasta that had an oily flavor. Nothing appropriate for small children either."

  • "We had a large group of 8 before a show...we were taken on time and service was very good. Portions were generous and delicious!"

  • "The food was really good. And the staff was SO attentive with removing used plates, etc, that we had to hold on to our plates if we wanted to soak up the remaining sauce on the plate! Our only problem was wanting to wait for our main courses, but they came out just as I ate the last bite of my salad. I know most people would like that! We each did a different Prix Fix meal, and each person commented how good it was, and how we would definitely return."

  • "Service was great. Liked the place - had character. Food was mediocre. Location was great for broadway shows."

  • "The staff was attentive. The food was very good and served without a wait. You can make your show's start time - giving yourself 1 1/2 hours for meal and drinks."

  • "We had 3 p.m. tickets, and I made a 12:30 reservation for brunch. The food was good - average sized portions, but reasonable for the price (most entrees were around $12). The one exception was the "hangover cure," which consisted of fried eggs, corned beef hash, bacon and cheese on a hero roll, along with fries. Huge portion - ordered by the 2 guys in our group, and they loved it. It took a bit longer than average to get our food - around 25 minutes, but we had plenty of time so it wasn't a problem. Coffee was poured from a thermos, and it wasn't as hot as I normally like it, but it wasn't worth complaining about as we were having a great time and the waitress was so nice. "

  • "Having a reservation for a pre-theatre dinner, we were promptly seated on the second level and quickly attended by the Mexican wait staff, which spoke excellent English. Service was very efficient. The dishes we ordered were generously served and proved to be delicious. Our wines were also in good measure. Excellent espresso and cappuccino as well."

  • "We needed to find a restaurant before our show on a Saturday night of the holiday weekend and had 6 people in our party, including my niece who is new to the City. Daniela's turned out to be perfect; the food was wonderful, the service excellent, and she loved it!"

  • "The restaurant interior is comfortable, attractive but a bit crowded. The menu represents a typical Italian fare, the appetizers choices are many and the fried calamari was delicious. I had the Chicken Daniela which was very good but a little too slaty for my taste and on the oily side. My son had a plate of plain spaghetti which he added butter to and he enjoyed his meal very much. My Wife had the restaurants version of shrimp scampi which she enjoyed. My daughter had the plain pizza which she also enjoyed although a bit on the oily side. The portions were more than enough and service was very good. We sat at the mezzanine level with a good view of Eighth Avenue, not much of a view but it is typical street scene with noisy traffic"

  • "When we stayed at The Milford we wandered into Daniela's for breakfast one day. It was excellent and we noticed that it was open for dinner, so we returned. We have eaten at Daniela's at least once a year for the last 5 years and have never had a bad meal. This week we tried the sangria for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I like sweet and my husband likes dry: the small pitcher of white sangria pleased us both, surprising. The prices are reasonable, the waitstaff is very attentive and the food is very good. It is also in a great location for when we come to see a play. It's our favorite NY restaurant."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation and we were seated immediately, on the 3rd floor. The place was crowded. The waitress was very pleasant. We placed our drink order and were served within a reasonable amount of time. Our bread basket was served when we got our drinks. So far so good. We only ordered entrees. After waiting almost 40 minutes and still no sign of food, our waitress came over to apologize and went to check. 15 minutes later our food arrived. Again she apologized and gave us each a free drink for the delay. The food was hot and was very good. Not the best, but very good. We didn't order dessert, but because of the delay she gave us 10% off the bill. At the end, she did right by us. Yes I would recommend Daniela's."

  • "Excellent restaurant for pre theater dining...arrived at 5:30 were seated right away and out in plenty of time for our 7:30 show. We were a party of four and while waiting for the fourth person to arrive we ordered the ceaser salad and fresh mozzerella/tomotoe salad and both were excellent. All the entrees were delicious, eggplant parm, chicken milanese, homemade ravioli's and seafood pasta!! Would def go back and would try the pre fix dining options."

  • "Our family of 4 had our Mother's Day lunch at Daniela's and we had a great time. The food was excellent and so was the service. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. The weather was beautiful that day and the restaurant had it's front windows/doors open so that the customers could enjoy the sunshine. We would most definitely go back to Daniela's and would recommend the restaurant to our friends."

  • "It can be confusing enough trying to dine out in Time Square - so many choices & when you are a group of 11 - it becomes more difficult! I found Daniela's on Open Table - a good find! Located close to all the theatres and the willingness and abliity to take a reservation for a large group. Upon arrival our table was waiting for us. Drink orders were taken right away and it was smooth sailing the rest of the meal. We were able to order off the menu, the food was served quickly and arrived hot - the waitstaff - a team of about 4 worked together to make sure everyone was happy. The menu selections are staple Italian and good portions with some special home made pasta dishes that have a little twist! We would go back and dine here again."

  • "We had a very enjoyable dinner at Daniela's. the experience was enhance by the table given to us, which was on the second floor, at the front, so we were able to watch the goings on on 8th Avenue while we dined. The food was very good, better than one would expect from the outward appearance of the restaurant. The deserts were good but aliitle disappointing when comapared to the quality of the entrees. We would frequent this restaurnat again."

  • "We went for Brunch on Saturday before a Broadway show. We were seated quickly and service was fairly quick, allowing us plenty of time to get to the show. I ordered the special of the day, which was likely a mistake as it was a bit to ambitious for the kitchen. Also the Calamari was quite rubbery but edible -- which was a shame because it came out golden brown and look great. Brunch items (pancakes, omelettes, eggs) around us looked good. Prices are quite reasonable for the area. If you are looking for something fast and adequate -- this will fit the bill. For any sort of occasion, take a pass."

  • "Went to Daniela for lunch before a theater matinee. Excellent location within a couple of blocks of most theaters. Arrived a few minutes before our noon reservation. The place was half empty. Within 15-20 minutes it had filled up. We were greeted immediately and seated. We were pleasantly surprised by both the sizes of the portions and the quality of the food. I had the pasta fagiola (a very large bowl) and the chicken Daniela on the prix fixed lunch. My wife had a chicken parm sandwich. Both were very good and the check was quite reasonable. We will probably go again for pre-theater lunch. "

  • "Good average. Service rushed. We both ordered soup, but only mine came. My husband had ordered the special soup, but they were out of it, and no one offered a substitute. While I sat there alone with my soup, we finally got some delivered to him. At least he was offered cheese for his, which I hadn't been."

  • "Daniela’s is a regular stop when we are in NYC. Its location makes it perfect when we are going from a matinee to an evening show or just seeing one show. But we wouldn’t keep returning unless Daniela’s offered good food. The fixed price dinner includes soup or salad, pasta or chicken entrée and choice of dessert for $31, a clear bargain. And the portions are full sized. Loved the chicken picatta, a large serving that was full of flavor and served with potatoes and broccoli; spaghetti and meatballs was hearty; tiramisu and mousse cake were equally great. The place is often busy before theater and quite noisy. But that’s NYC! "

  • "We decided to purchase tickets for a show at the last minute and needed to find a place close by for a quick early pre show dinner. Read a few of the recent reviews and decised to book our table for 4. We were served immediately. Our dishes were great. The place was busy but the waiters were very effcient. We were in and out in 30 minutes , with plenty of time to walk to the theater. Good food, grear service and very resonably priced. They will be on our list for next time we are back in the city for a show. "

  • "The food and service was excellent. The menu has many choices. The food is served hot and the portions are the right size. The wait staff are attentive and constantly ask if the food and you are OK. I have eaten here in the past and will continue to come here since I always get excellent service and food."

  • "There was no problem getting a reservation for 8 on short notice - now I know why :( To be fair, the service was very good and the dinners (other than the steak) were fair to good, but the appetizers were awful. After tasting the clams, I was afraid I might not make it through the play we were going to. The eggplant tasted like chemicals and the calamari was chewy. The steak was ordered medium but came very well done. And really, how can a restaurant in Times Square be out of Bud Light before dinner service on a Sunday??? How about going to the local bodega and buying a few six packs???? I wanted to love this place, but I didn't."

  • "Have been here a lot...especially good place for a meal if you are in a hurry before or after theatre. Food is decent usually but service is just way too fast. I ordered salad, plate taken, entree appears, and disappears....full meal eaten in 25 minutes. Felt very rushed. The meal I always get, Chicken Daniella, was prepared differently and not as tasty. I should have sent it back. This place has the best desserts, although I did not have any this time."
