  • "Due to making a late reservation we were told that main dining room was fully booked but seating was available in the lounge. I love the restaurant so much I decided the lounge would probably be ok. What a surprise! It was much more cozy, the food superb and the service was the best."

  • "Went for a birthday celebration, had the price fixe menu with wine pairing. Food was excellent and service was outstanding."

  • "Fantastic food, great service, very good wine: a very complete 16th Wedding Anniversary experience. Obviously you have to pay for it but it was worth it."

  • "More of a special occasion place for mere mortals. Service was particularly exceptional."

  • "Talk about a bad start--we ordered cocktails--one of their menu drinks, but without the lime juice. The waiter told us, after placing the order, that the bartender "didn't want to compromise the integrity of the recipe, so could you make another selection". Really? Why give the customer what they want, when what the bartender's ego is at stake! Realizing that we weren't impressed with being told "no" right from the start, the waiter, to his credit, did try to recover, and eventually, they talked the bartender into lowering his standards and eliminating the lime juice. The meal that followed was as compromised as our drink order---never rising to match the press or the prices. Very ordinary and disappointing."

  • "The food at Daniel is outstanding, the service so slick it is almost balletic - we found it truly memorable and wonderful. Sadly the evening was slightly ruined by the fact that immediately after I had signed the cheque the waiter asked me if we needed a taxi and pulled the table away from us - I was forced to stand up whilst still sipping the last of my delicious wine. This made us feel that we had been thrown off the end of the conveyor belt ...a shame as everything else was divine!"

  • "The service could not be topped. It was so amazing and we felt well cared for in the lounge. Bonus was that we got to meet Chef Boulud."

  • "The most exquisite dining experience I've ever had. We enjoyed the tasting menu. Service was impeccable! Food spectacular. Pricy. Very pricy, but it was a splurge occasion (35th wedding anniversary) and an unforgettably special night. Wow!"

  • "Daniel was outstanding. The best foie gras I have ever experienced before."

  • "This restaurant is almost worth a trip to NYC on its own! My husband and I came to New York to celebrate his birthday, and I made this our first stop for dinner. What a bar was set by coming here first! Every decorative detail was lovely, the ambiance romantic and comfortable, the food fantastic, and the special dessert touches (including warm madelines) were absolutely charming and flavorful. The waitress, the sommelier, indeed the entire staff were top notch and anticipated our needs before we even asked. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant looking for a wonderful experience. This restaurant certainly deserves its 3 stars!"

  • "The food is unusual, complex, beautiful and simply outstanding. We ate in the lounge since we thought we might want to order a la carte instead of fixed price. Everything sounded so good we all (five) ended up ordering the three course menu which came with multiple amuse-bouche and candy and wonderful mini madeleines for desert. The wine list is longer than the bible. The cocktails are is interesting and complex as the food, definitely worth a try. The staff are helpful in offering suggestions. The price, of course, is not for the faint of heart, be prepared to spend your kids' inheritance."

  • "Daniel is one of those restaurants that delivers consistently, and its close to perfection. It is the art of food, without the ultra-pretention of so many similarly priced restaurants that take themselves a bit too seriously. The food is sublime and you can actually taste it as the quantities are of the real world….not too big, not too small: Certainly not the microscopic kind you get elsewhere that leaves you embarrassed for the chef. The flavors are rich and complex without being extreme. Some ultra-clever-creative' food combinations elsewhere are downright annoying and not enjoyable. The staff and service are friendly and efficient, and not obsessed with themselves. This ranks as one of the greats in New York, or anywhere."

  • "This was my third visit to Daniel, second time in the lounge. I brought two friends who had never been there. We all agreed that an evening at Daniel is not a prelude to the rest of your evening out, but its own, wonderful experience. The service is impeccable. No matter the need, someone anticipated it. That being said, no one obviously hovered. And though we were there 3 hours, no one rushed us to turn the table. Each course was amazing. The pistachio crusted scallops were tender and rich with flavor. The turbot, despite being a mild fish, had such developed flavors, it was incredible. The foie gras was incredibly rich, in a good way. And the wine pairings paired well, with the sommelier explaining each wine."

  • "We were booked into the Lounge and swept into main restaurant upon arrival. We all know the food is sublime but their service actually enhances the palate's experience. There is good food in many restaurants, but this is an experience."

  • "Daniel never ever disappoints. Every time I go the food is extraordinary. The Service though is what blows me away. Despite the recent NY Times review where the reviewer (using an undercover colleague) claims that not everyone is treated the same I have always received 5 star service but in the Lounge and the Restaurant. Simply the best dining experience in NYC."

  • "Shortly after arriving we were asked if we wanted main restaurant seating as a table had become available. This made the night, the waiting staff were spot on, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was excellent with lots of extra little tasters in between. Highly recommended"

  • "The lounge is cozy and pretty. Table was too small for a party if four, especially considering all of the plates and cutlery needed for the cavalcade of amuse bouches. The food was excellent from start to finish, and they are extremely gracious in accommodating special dietary needs. Service is attentive , expert, formal and a tiny but fussy (in other words French). Astonishing wine list. We were pleasantly surprised to see Daniel himself greeting a patron and it's good to see he puts in time there."

  • "It truly doesn't get any better. The food and the service are superb. The entire staff is understated but extremely well trained. It is physically a beautiful setting. The lounge is not as grand or formal as the main dining room, but men do not need to wear jackets and you do not miss out on anything. It is the same amazing menu and service, just not as big or formal. We have been to Daniel many times, this was our first experience in the lounge and it will not be our last."

  • "I had booked a table in the lounge because we were a small group of old friends looking for a special and intimate way to honor one of our party. As luck would have it (or more likely as it was early, January & the coldest winter in a century) we were offered a table in the main dining room. We accepted and were made to feel very welcome. The amuse bouche were divine as usual, the sommelier helpful and respectful of cost considerations. The service was gracious and attentive but not overly cloying. The guest of honor exclaimed it was the best turbot and meal of his life! What more could one ask for?!"

  • "There really is nothing better than having high expectations exceeded. We had recently eaten at one of NYC's other 3-star Michelin restaurants, a previous favorite of ours, and left bitterly disappointed. Not because the meal was awful but rather because focus had seemingly shifted away from superb execution in the kitchen and discrete but impeccable service, to over the top theatrics on the plate and at the table. At Daniel the food was simply excellent. We both had our favorites but all courses were delicious. Furthermore, the quality of the food was matched by the quality of the service. Attentive without being intrusive, incredibly helpful without being overbearing. Fair to say that Daniel is our new favorite."

  • "We booked Daniel having read several "top restaurant in NYC" lists, looking for something that would be truly outstanding - something to remember a trip to NYC by. It exceeded every expectation - the service was ever vigilant without being over-attentive, we were not hurried (as is our normal experience in the US), the food was innovative yet classically perfect, and the wine matches outstanding. Most surprising - we ordered the three course prix fixe, expecting three courses, yet being delivered no less than eight! I'd go and go and go again............"

  • "Our best meal ever was at Daniel. This time we decided to try the lounge so my boy friend would have to bring a coat and tie to NYC. The food was the same and the service great but we had a very noisy large party sitting a few tables away who had just came in for drinks. I was told this doesn't usually happen and eventually they left. The maitre de offered to move us to another table which would have been closer to the bar and traffic from the kitchen. If you want a nice quiet very comfortable table, the lounge may not be the not the place. You have the same great food and staff but not quite the same experience for the money if you are having the fix price menu."

  • "Incredible restaurant. Three words - consistency. quality. service. Neither the incredible kitchen staff, nor the front of house EVER disappoint. Special kudos go out to Pascal and Jesse in the lounge. You guys are the classiest people I know. Cant wait to see you again!!!"

  • "My wife and I have lived in Manhattan for a number of years now, and Daniel is by far our favorite restaurant. Most recently, we went for New Year's Eve. The prix fixe meal with wine pairings was expensive, but perhaps the best meal we have ever had. Simply out of this world. And unlike some other top NYC restaurants, Daniel does not skimp on the wine pairings or the portions. The service is always perfect: accommodating to the nth degree without being intrusive. If you want the very best NYC has to offer, go to Daniel. We do every chance we get."

  • "We are used to these uppscale restaturants, the price is not a handicap, but the service and quality must be excellent, simply it wasn't. Too many mistakes for one night, and in this case it was New Years Eve, so we were really dissappointed. They required a dress code, jacket and tie, and not everybody respect it (so anything for the money). We were eating the meat dish without red wine in our glasses it came later and twice with the dessert? besides the meat was dryish. In another dish the waiter told us something else was coming to add att the dish so we have to wait, later on he comes back and said that everything was already in the dish so we could start eating???"

  • "From what we (3) saw of the dining room, we think our seating in the lounge was better. A touch less formal (no ties, jackets preferred), but the same fabulous service and food. Also a bit warmer feeling in the lounge than the larger, open and more formal (jackets & ties) dining room. worth every Michelin star (3) - a great fine dining experience!!!"

  • "My wife and I come to NYC for Christmas every few years. This was our first experience at Daniel. Even booking 30 days ahead we could not manage to get into the main dining area between 7:00 and 9:00, so we opted for Lounge Seating. My wife is from England and I am in the oil business and travel all over the world. We both agreed this was the best experience we have ever had in all aspects of service, food, and wine. The wine list is as thick as a phone book. The meal was expensive but everyone should experience Daniel at least once in their life."

  • "We just spend an extended weekend in New York visiting the notable restaurants. I won't name names, but the collection of stars across the board was impressive. The dinner we had at Daniel was by far the best. We were blown away by the level of service and the experience. More importantly, the dinner was truly delicious. I often go away from these kind of restaurants remembering my experience but forgetting about what I ate. I am still dreaming of that suckling pig chop today. I would recommend Daniel over and over again."

  • "Ive been to Danielle several times and it's consistently good every time. It by no means will be the best meal you ever had, but the experience is the novelty that will resonate. The service is great, professional and engaging. The decor of the dining room is beautiful, palace of Versailles without all the gawdiness. The food is very good, beautifully presented and small portions. The flavors are interesting and memorable with a lot of artistic integrity applied. I usually get the beef, which is smalll but delicious. My girlfriend got the Turbot fish which was the best thing I ever ate there. The thing which keeps my rating down is the price. It's so stupid and doesn't sustain the worth of the food. The desserts are crazy good!"

  • "There is no detail overlooked at this restaurant from the quietly attentive service to the fabulous food to a visit from Daniel himself! The food is inventive, beautifully presented and tastes even better than it looks. Don't be put off by the price--it's worth every penny!"

  • "White truffle tasting was amazing. The chef created a menu just to sample white truffles on each course. It was a little too noisy due to a private party which had an excessive amount of traffic going in and out, but other than that it was an amazing experience."

  • "This is the highest rating that I have ever given a restaurant. Although we were seated at a corner table in the lounge, the service was considerate in every way, the food and wine superb. All in all we had a wonderful evening thanks to Daniel."
