  • "Sadly our big celebration was off to a rough start when our party sat for 20 minutes unattended waiting for our champagne only to then learn they couldn't open the cellar. While unfortunate but understandable, the poor rating stems from the lack of service and attention while we waited (and waited). Typically there would be some consideration made - but there was none.   • "The garlic-infused olive oil was fantastic and the penne arrabiata was very good, too. I was told the specials by my waiter and was surprised when I heard another waiter give a more elaborated list to another table, especially since there were dishes on his list I would have been interested in. I was extremely disappointed when I was served a half-frozen piece of chocolate cake. If it isn't ready to serve, they shouldn't offer it, especially since it isn't on a menu but part of a list of choices the waiter gives you."

The noise was quiet but I believe that's because we were there so late. I have a feeling during prime seating it could get very loud, but that won't stop me from going again. And people were still being seated at 10pm, which is great."

  • "I hadn't been here for over 10 years. I was taking my daughter downtown and decided to show her one of my favorite spots from the past. They gave us this tiny cocktail table on the first floor. When I said I had requested a table by the window or a booth, the hostess said they had no booths and the one table by the window was already occupied. When I told her I had a reservation with open table she left and came back with the owner and said we could move to the other side of the room that had a L-shaped couch with a table in front of it. The food was disappointing. The worst part of the experience was after I paid, the waiter came back and said the bill was incorrect and I needed to pay an additional $16.00. I will never return!"

  • "Sticker shock when the appetizer pricing came with the bill! It was as much as the veal entree for some broccoli rabe with a few pieces of sausage! The food was good but the tables are on top of each other as we witnessed a man almost fall trying to get in to his seat! Luckily he didn't!"

  • "The food was definitely sitting out for a while. It was cramped and overpriced. Needless to say my boyfriend picked it on the sole basis that they sold chicken parm. Luckily we had ice cream at the Franklin fountain after and it made the night all better. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone nor will I be returning. Could have made a much better meal at home or gone to a freeking pizza place for more authentic and homemade Italian food. Literally go to a pizza place before this place the oil with herbs was the best part and I would have gladly drank that for dinner over my pasta and shrimp which was for sure made the night before. My boyfriends chicken parm tho was pretty okay I will say that. If you go here good luck."

  • "Saw the ad for this place in America's Cuisine magazine in my hotel room. So we scheduled a business dinner on a Friday evening with someone from Valley Forge, PA, someone from Princeton, NJ, someone from Collingswood, NJ and the reviewer who convinced them to enjoy old school Italian in the city. Some shared apps - stuffed mushrooms, fried calamari, and a two signature salads got the dinner started right. Wonderful service added to the classic dishes including - Lobster Fra Diavlo, stuffed flounder, double cut veal chop, and an Italian NY strip that was big enough for everyone to get a taste. Served with a solid bottle of Chianti at a fair price, this was a great place to meet, and a great meal too!"

  • "Came to D'Angelo's on a Friday night to unwind after a long week of classes. We were greeted at the door, coats were checked and we were shown to our table. It is a cozy, but not cramped dining area upstairs. Our server was very nice and helpful, but the service could have been a bit faster. We had the caprese salad and stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and tagliatelle and chicken Florentine, as well as a glass of wine. All of the food was delicious and the portions were generous. All in all, this was a very good restaurant and I woiuld recommend giving them a try if you are in the mood for a nice Italian meal"

(I am Italian) The pasta is homemade, everything is fresh, not swimming in garlic like a lot of other "Italian" restaurants. Meat was tender, even my very picky husband & daughter loved it.   • "I make a once a year trip to Philly for the PMA show at the Convention Center. Haven't missed D'Angelos in 10 years. We love the food and the whole experience. The broccoli rabe and housemade sausage is a must. The veal chop special is amazing. This is old world Italian food at it's best!"

I think it could have been better, but the seating was not that comfortable (one of those deals where one side of the table is a booth bench and the other side is real chairs, and there is a table so close that you are sharing the "booth" with the people next to you), our waiter had a lackluster personality, and desert (it was my wife's birthday, which I had told the restaurant ahead of time) was pitiful. The food was OK but not memorable. The only real good part: my son and daughter could find something on the menu they would eat, but that is not a ringing endorsement. I was hoping and trying for more. Too many places to try before going back to D'Angelos (unfortunately)."

I ate here about a month ago and was surprised and delighted how delicious it was...so I brought a friend to celebrate his birthday. He is a true gourmet and was skeptical of my choice.   • "I would have loved the food if it was seasoned. I understand that some people are allergic to some seasons, but you have different herbs & spices that could be added to food that would give food a taste. I had the Salmon and pasta (just needed it to have some kind of taste). The service at the restaurant was excellent."
