  • "Have never been disappointed. Love Dancing Marlin!"

  • "We took 3 out of town guests for 4th of July week-end celebration; 2 were foodies from Portland Or and 1 a food lover from Charlotte, NC. They all raved about the menu choices, the excellent preparation, and tasty flavorful food. It is hard to recommend any one particular dish but the mushroom flatbread probably is tops but the fries, beet salad, scallops, ahi tuna, risotto etoufee with crawfish and shrimp, crab stuffed peppers, artichokes, and sloppy Joseph were among the items we ordered. They were out of the soft shell crab sliders by the time we ordered but we understand they are not to be missed. Yes, we ordered a lot but it was all shareable and terrific."

  • "This was highly recommended by a friend. She said the Sangria was great. Personally I did not care for it. I was not familiar with the small plate concept but walked away loving it. You are able to share so many tastes and the food was excellent. Will definitely be going back although the noise level in the restaurant is bad...poor design of room."

  • "Great concept. Terrible layout. Average food. Descriptions all sound great but food disappoints."

  • "The food was very good! Our group of four shared nine plates and enjoyed each and every one!"

  • "We eat here almost once a week due to the excellent food and variety of options on the small plates. The wild mushroom flatbread has terrific mushroom taste; not overwhelmed by cheese as is so often the case. Tried the crawfish etoufee which was full of shrimp and crawfish; very tasty. The artichoke was rich and flavorful with the method of preparation. We ran out of room before we could consider desert. Will return many times more!"

  • "It was my birthday and I booked a table for two. The dueling pianos were playing. It made for a fun evening. There was a lot of crowd interaction. The food is different and creative. Many choices for a gluten free diet. It was a fun way to spend the evening. It can get quite loud when entertainment is there. When there is no entertainment, it is great for a date."

  • "Never disappointed with any of our selections. Shared plate is a unique find in the south burbs. Seasonal menus so they are always changing it up."

  • "The beef brisket sliders and triple cooked fries with garlic aioli were incredible! My server was not as attentive as she should be, I waited to pay my bill. The brioche doughnuts with salted caramel sauce were delicious! This place is meant for sharing but if you're dining alone, I would order each item separately especially because the fries were a huge portion. I would come back again!"

  • "We enjoyed all the dishes we tried. However we thought the steak and potatoes was over priced. We got such a small slice of steak that it was not worth the price. The other dishes were very tasty. We liked the kale, flatbreads and gnudi."

  • "A jewel in the southwest suburbs. Food was delicious!"

  • "Absolutely enjoyed this restaurant. The food was just wonderful. The scallops with bacon that were on special were out of this world. The food comes out quickly and is spaced out nicely. Loved the mini cocktail flights they offer to let you try the different special drinks. Our waitress, Danielle, was perfectly delightful and gave us great insight into the menu and ordering. Will definitely come back."

  • "We celebrated my daughter's graduation and had a fabulous time! They have an open kitchen that features a small-plate sharing concept. The food was fresh and unique, and the sharing concept was a blast for everyone in our group. The place reminded me more of a downtown restaurant. It is quite unique for the southern suburbs and definitely worth a visit to."

  • "We've been to the Dancing Marlin 6 or so times and have never been disappointed with the food. The variety is excellent, and the fresh fish dishes are always at the top of our list. Recently, the soft-shell crab sliders were a big hit. Because all of the "dishes" are small plates, you can really work your way through the menu fairly quickly. The small plates allow diners to try a lot. No need to make a big investment in a single entree when you lust after several. I'm not sure I like the beverage program. The cocktails are all pre-mixed and the bartender pours them from a tap. On the plus side, however, if you would like a taste before committing, that is available. Staff is friendly and eager to please."

  • "I LOVE this restaurant! Personnel are informative and helpful. The food is wonderful. Starting with the fired kale, the gnudi, the flatbreads. The blended red wine is delicious. A delightful atmosphere. I have recommended to friends and will continue to do so."

  • "We made reservations at the Dancing Marlin in Frankfort last Friday. I thought the name to be whimsical and was curious to see how the restaurant is. We had not been to this restaurant before so when asked by the hostess if we preferred main dining or the smaller dining room near the front door, I did not know how to respond. The main dining room was quite loud so the smaller dining room seemed a good choice, unfortunately, not so. The small dining room was even louder. A pet peave with me is noise level. Our server's name was Dawn. She was delightful, knowledgeable, and provided excellent service. Speaking of excellent, we ordered soft shell crab sliders, sloppy joseph, and calamari tacos, all of which were excellent. Great food/service"

  • "When I made the reservation, w/o checking the menu, I assumed from the name it was a fish restaurant. Then right before going I looked at the menu and to my surprise it wasn't a fish based menu. I wasn't totally disappointed, however, when we ordered our food it was VERY good. The people who work there were very pleasant!! The concept of the restaurant is great...if you're use to that style of eating. It was an experience for my parents who I brought with me. They enjoyed the meal as well. I'd definitely would recommend it to others. My only "complaint" would be I think the prices are alittle high, especially the drinks. But I do realize when you have a specialty establishment, that's the price you pay."

  • "Found this gem on line. The name was intriguing. And, it was only mile from my event. If you have never dined tapas style before, you are in for a pleasant surprise. If you have, you will not be disappointed. The menu is varied enough to appeal to almost everyone, including steak and potato comfort diners and those willing to try a different way of preparing old favorites and soon- to- be- new ones. We loved the mushroom tacos, fries, pirogues and the delightful gnudis (a variation of gnocchi) served with a dynamite pistachio pesto as well as lemon butter sauce. Reading the menu will make your mouth water. Trust me. We loved it!"

  • "This has become our favorite restaurant. Small plates offer a great variety. We always order the wild mushroom flat bread yet have been told we're missing out on the chicken flat bread. My wife enjoyed the artichokes and I derived a lot of pleasure from an old stand-by, what they call Sloppy Joseph. We enjoyed both scallops and copper river salmon on this visit; both tender, not overcooked as at some other places and flavorful. I understand they will be changing to a summer menu in about a month and certain items will no longer be available. I am going to have to get back to try the crawfish etoufee that I have been putting off getting."

  • "This was our 2nd visit in the past 30 days, we took a friend to celebrate her birthday. We enjoyed trying a few more "new" selections off the menu that we hadn't tried the first time we were there. The pork belly was fabulous with the rutabaga mash and the brown gravy that accompanies it. The scallops were cooked perfectly! I personally enjoy the pickled corn and pistachios that garnishes this dish, a great combination of flavor and texture. Be sure to try some or all of the special offerings that are made available on a nightly basis. We shared a plate of Hawaiian Ono that was cooked wonderfully, and we LOVE the fresh micro greens! The service was a bit slower than the first time we dined here, but in our case, we weren't in any hurry. "

  • "Food was overall good, but tapas experiences should be enjoyed slowly and the noise level drove us out. "

  • "I had made a last minute reservation for 4 on a Saturday night and was astonished to be seating right away, expecting things to be delayed on a busy night. The hostess stand was so kind and gave the warm welcome a restaurant should! Our party of four received immediate attention with drinks and the server was able to read when we needed a little bit more time to decide. On the downside, the server seemed new, nervous, was unable to recommend anything or answer any questions we had regarding the menu. She was uninformed on the cocktails and offered little guidance with all of our selections. Regardless, all the food was AH-MAZING (as expected--it was my third visit and Dancing Marlin has yet to miss the culinary mark!). "

  • "We really enjoy the variety and splendid tastes of all on the menu. Wild mushroom flat bread is really tasty and flavorful. The special swordfish was moist, had good texture, and the orzo served with it was tender and tasted great. The rare prepared Ahi Tuna was "fork cuttable" and full of rich flavor. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We've been to the Dancing Marlin twice, once during the week and once on the weekend. In the future, we'll limit visits to during the week. Although the food was good both times, the noise level was very loud on the weekend."

  • "Very Nice atmosphere, pretty loud :( , great service, nice room in the basement, inconvenient bathroom location (way too many stairs!), food mostly average-mushroom slider bread and cheese was terrible, octopus was delicious"

  • "Nice drink menu to start, service was good table was clean along with everything on it. Food selection was a wide variety everything was fresh and made to order and priced right. Good place to have diner with a group of friends."

  • "Staff was very accommodating, we never waited for a drink or a new food order. Everyone was very knowledgable about the drink and food ingredients. The food was simply fabulous! "

  • "Obviously we must really like this place and its variety. The Mushroom flatbread was sizable and quite tasty. Made us wonder how we could try to re-create it at home. The beet salad and fires salad were both quite crisp with good flavors. We had main courses of scallops (which is on the menu) and ono which was a special. Both types of fish were cooked so that they were plump, not dried out which we have encountered at other places, and delicious. We shared the chocolate dessert of the day; truffles, peanut butter on chocolate crust, etc...rich and delicious. Will definitely return many more times."

  • "Fresh, fresh fish prepared perfectly. Fresh wines under pressure in a tap. Warm service. Interesting, varied menu, including vegetarian options. A great spot in the south suburbs."

  • "2nd time in 2 weeks here. The range of tapas including vegetarian, pork, beef, seafood, etc. is tops along with the creative blending of flavors. The portions are large enough to share for 2-3 people which makes the pricing a good gourmet value."

  • "Went for the first time this past Saturday to check it out. What we found there will keep us coming back again and again for sure! The tapas style plates were really fantastic and delicious!!! The use of fresh, local ingredients was very apparent, and the combinations of textures, flavorful and creative combinations really exploded on the taste buds!!! Though we had a small party of three, we tried about 7 or 8 of the offerings. Each one stood out on it's own. The scallops were prepared to perfection, the smoky whitefish dip was phenomenal. We tried a special offering, one of which was a watermelon radish salad with pickled corn niblets, macadamia nuts, goat cheese, caramelized leeks with an avocado vinaigrette. You'll LOVE this place!!! "

  • "Just loving the Dancing Marlin! Fantastic for Girls Night Out or Date Night! I've been twice. Personally groups in multiples of 4 are fantastic for dividing up the dishes. Interesting combinations of foods that aren't too intimidating to try. Drinks are also an experience. Unique mixtures of flavors and nothing you will find elsewhere. Will definitely be back!"

  • "The Dancing Marlin has a very warm & friendly atmosphere with excellent service. The menu was so interesting that it took me awhile to choose. I brought my sister on Mother's Day & she loved it also. The food was so delicious & fresh! I would highly reccomend this restaurant."

  • "We have dined here before and will probably go back again. Food choices are interesting, but service was rushed. We were in and out of there in 45 minutes for dinner on Mother's Day. My husband loves desert and there is no desert menu and very limited choices. "

  • "Took my wife and daughter here for Mother's Day celebration. They had a combination breakfast and main course Tapas type menu. The hash while perhaps sounding uninspiring by name was terrific in taste; the beet salad was delicious; the smoked trout tacos were both different and wonderful. The smoked white fish spread over home-made pita chips were superb. They also offered a variety of mixed and specialty drinks. We'll be going back....highly recommended."
