I was introduced to Damon's about 10 years ago and can't wait to go back! The ribeye steak with onions and blue cheese is incredible. The petite filet is a must -have as well. Yelp says there are new managers and have worked on the menu... I did notice the prices have gone up from before but they are still not overpriced. I would say Damon's is a good place to go for any reason but don't expect the High-End experience. The food was very good! I had a Ribeye steak and it was tender and cooked as requested. Others had the Cheeseburger and said it was amazing... and the third dinner was the Coconut Shrimp which was equally as good, Servings were well portioned. The decor is themed Polynesian with a large fish filled aquarium and canoes hanging overhead. So with that description you understand the "not a high-end restaurant" title. I was pleasantly surprised that it was even better this time. The steaks we had, especially the filet, were great. Service was friendly and attentive. There's a homey atmosphere in Damon's. Took 30 min for a waiter to make contact with us because we were placed "in between their areas." Once that was worked out the service and food were excellent. They comp'd the appetizers since we waited so long. Now that's how you take care of customers!!! Probably the best pork chop I've ever had. Great place, noisy if your looking for romance. I'm glad we stayed. The food (filet medallions cooked just the way we ordered) and service were excellent. We were stuffed after eating all our dinner but decided on dessert (anniversary celebration after all). The place was packed on this Saturday night but we asked our waiter if he would mind giving us about 15 minutes before bringing our choice of wontons filled with peanut butter, bananas & chocolate, with a side of vanilla ice cream. He obliged without hesitation. The staff was more concerned with our dining experience than turning a table. Unusual in this day & age. Looking forward to our next visit!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steaks!Wow! The Filet Mignon was perfect.In fact,my husband thought it was one of the best steaks he had ever eaten. Everything else,potatoes, creamed corn,etc, was wonderful. The only problem was the extremely loud noise level, which some people might find just right. Once we adjusted to it, it was okay. The old-fashioned Tiki Bar atmosphere was fun, and I could certainly see it as a great place to take friends,enjoy the drinks, relax, eat, and people watch.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA GOOD RELIABLE MEAL EVERY TIMEDamon's has been one of my favorite restaurants in the Los Angeles Metro area for years. The decor is like the Tiki Room at Disneyland and the food is always very good. The cocktails are good, but can be pricey. I always go to the bar area during happy hour and order a drink just before being seated for dinner as the happy hour discounts only apply to the bar. Steaks were just plain good and good plain, now they are covered in butter or sauce. I can't be sure but it seems that the meats have changed, used to be tasty by themselves, now they need help. Even though it was really crowded, we got seated right away. Food was excellent. My son tried their one of their new appetitizers chili-fries and was very pleased. Another plus for me is the children's menu now has pasta. So everyone was happy. Steak was great as usual. Just a great night out. Steaks are still great, salad is as we remember, love the garlic bread.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place is a little funkyThe place is a little funky with the tropical decor, but it adds quirky charm to it and they have great food. The times I have eaten here the food has always been fresh and hot. They used to have a small menu, but they have since added new items. The steaks are delicious and juicy. The mussels are cooked perfectly and not dry or chewy. The side of creamed corn is fresh and creamy, not overly sweet. The drinks are good and fairly priced. I usually come here with a large group and when everyone gets their food, everyone is happy with the quality and temperature of the food.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOld Timer Is Still StrongVery good food in a Tiki Room atmosphere. I like their coconut shrimp, and my wife liked her steak. Excellent drinks from the bar. The house salad is very good, as well as the garlic toast. Large portions and very good efficient service make it a good choice for a casual dinner.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDamon's is an LA Icon . .Damon's is an LA Icon . . . a Polynesian themed restaurant since the early 1930's. It is and has remained a popular spot for 80 years. I have eaten there since the 50's as a child, when the walls were adorned with oil paintings of beautiful bare-chested polynesian women . . .ahhh . . always a treat. The paintings are gone but much has remained the same over the years. Signature rum drinks and a very busy bar to boot.
I cannot remember ever having a disappointing meal . . .friendly courteous staff, consistently well prepared dishes, and that wonderful kitschy tropical decor.

Went there with a group to celebrate a friends birthday and had a great time. Staff was friendly and helpful to our larger group. I had the guinness short ribs which, was AWESOME. Only one complaint to be made. As soon as we were seated a daddy long legs greeted us by landing on our table. When the waiter saw us freaking out and me stomping on something he came over to ask what had happened. I explained and as if it was normal the waiter just brushed it off and did nothing about it. I was kind of annoyed but didn't blow up since it was date night. The Mai tai's needed some work but the food was right on the money.
