  • "The Snapper with lump crab meat was perfectly prepared and delicious. The Caesar salad prepared at the table was good, but prepared without Anchovies, so it was a little bland. I prefer Cavatore's, which I think has the best in town. The Linguini with white Clams and white wine sauce was superb. We shared the Lemon Sorbetto, which is the best I have had anywhere, including Italy. I asked the waiter to bring us some fresh Basil, which we crumbled over the Sorbetto. If you haven't tried Lemon Sorbetto with fresh basil, you are in for a treat. Bon Appetite!"

  • "A lovely Houston institution serving some of the best Italian food in town. The lobtser bisque in a bread bowl was incredible. I had the osso bucco with pimento as my entre, and it was quite good too. Two thumbs up!"

  • "A great Italian restaurant that you might think you could only find in New York, but Damian's Cucina Italian Restaurant in Downtown Houston, Texas makes that grade. Attentive staff, terrific wine list, top notch menu - it's the complete package."

  • "Damian's Cucina was the PERFECT choice for my mother's bday. We went to dine before taking in the TUTS musical at the Hobby, and the staff were more than accomodating and congenial. THe shuttlet othe theatre district was an added bonus rather than the only reason for dining there. . . the food was all delicious. You can not order wrong! Service was impeccable. Best choice for us!"

  • "We have been to Damian's several times over many years. They do not disappoint. Great service, food, and ambiance. Also, perfect for before theater then catch their shuttle. A favorite for special occasions and everyday."

  • "Carrabas is our favorite restaurant, but this original in the Mandolas family still has the 5 star feel, menu and prices. It's elegant without losing the "your welcome" atmosphere, and the service was much better than the more popular and will known chain. Our waiter was attentive and knew his menu and specials by heart and his wines, although my wife choose the champagne bellini and I had the Perroni beer. The food was outstanding, but my favorite was no doubt the Italian Cream Carrot Cake with Pecan Caramel Sauce. OMG! It's expensive, as most 5 star places are, but for special occasions, or if you just have a lot of money to go all the time, it's a great place and we will be back."

  • "Damian's is a lovely place for ladies to gather before a ballet, etc. performance. Quiet ambience so there is no shouting to be heard. Lovely wine list. Excellent service and food preparation. Excellent menu. The free shuttle to the theatre district is definitely a plus - a safety thing for ladies dining alone and enjoying the entertainment options. I highly recommend this restaurant on so many levels."

  • "This was my first time to Damians. We were 15min early for a 7pm reservation & were seated immediately, no wait at all. The food was very good & priced very reasonably. The wine list was very impressive. I appreciated the mature wait staff instead of your typical teenibopper non attentive help. Nice, moderately quiet, mature atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Damians for a nice dinner for two as well as a nice family gathering."

  • "Took the whole family for dad's 65th bday...amazing! Food was phenomenal...even for vegetarians. Lobster and crab pasta dish was the best. Tiramisu and Italian Creme cake were unbelievable! Definitely recommend this place."

  • "The food was good, didn't wow. I felt a bit ignored by the waiter at times. Nice feel inside great for conversation. "

  • "Damian's has been a fixture on Smith Street in Midtown for as long as we can remember. It is a great place to eat before the theater, symphony, opera or ballet since it is only 5 minutes drive to those venues or you can take their shuttle and leave your car parked at the restaurant. The food is great, especially the seafood specials, and service is always impeccable. Entrees are pricey, but worth it."

  • "We come to Damian's often for obvious reasons: they have some of the best food and service in town. It is a real pleasure to be able to enjoy a meal without wondering where something will go awry. That's even more important when there is a larger group involved: we had 6 at this meal and all were well-pleased. Houston, in general, has a 'server problem'; Damian's does not. They are knowledgeable of the food and its preparation, as well as careful to do their jobs without 'hovering'. And on the subject of food: we had a variety of appetizers and desserts surrounding both meat and fish dishes. All were excellent. In summary: I like being able to give high marks all-around. I so rarely get the chance."

  • "This was a great find. The atmosphere was great, this was our first time and we could tell before we sat down we were in for an exceptional experience. Waiters were jumping around everywhere, people were eating (not sitting around waiting), and there were smiles on peoples faces. The owner of the restaurant was out there pitching in with the service, visited our table, apologized for the poor table (which wasn't that bad), and brought my daughter free dessert. The veal marsala was excellent, but the service stood out.....did I mention the free valet parking? "

  • "Damian's is our pre-theater favorite - early dinner, then take their shuttle to the performance. No problem getting a gluten-free meal for the celiac in our group. Super service, very warm welcome."

  • "We went for Mothe's day and had a table of 5. I ordered appetizers for the table that were terrible.(mozzarella, shrimp and calamari) The appetizers were disappointing. Very bland and not exciting, however, the main courses were outstanding. Plenty of food and very tasty. The next time we go I will order different appetizers."

  • "Best Sea Bass I have ever had. Dinner partners all were overjoyed with their food. The free shuttle to the Wortham and back was so convenient. We will make this a regular plan for future trip to the theater "

  • "When we requested to see the special menu for May, we were told that it did not apply until May 12. We replied that their website was misleading, as it did not specify a date, other than May special. The manager promptly printed out special menus for us and honored their special, which was in honor of their Anniversary. They were most gracious about it, and the food was spectacular! We will return!"

  • "We were a party of 8. Seated promptly, we chose a nice Chianti from the wine list to start. Soft-shell crab as appetizer was outstanding. Everyone thought their entres, including the fish of the day, were wonderful. Service was attentive and unobtrusive."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for a nice dinner. We were treated like specials guests from the moment arrived. I could tell as soon as I tasted the first roll that I was going to greatly enjoy the food. Each course afterwards was increasingly delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice higher end restaurant."

  • "Consistently high in my opinion. Friendly staff, crisp service, outstanding menu, very very consistent! From the quieter than you'd expect atmosphere, to the linen tablecloths, Damien's always meets -- and exceeds -- my expectations. Visit after visit, they remember me by name, offer crisp happy service, and deliver to my table food with the freshest of ingredients. This jewel of a restaurant is 30 years old. Longevity speaks to the quality! Be sure to book ahead if there's a large convention in town. Many people come back when they are in Houston - and you don't want to miss this opportunity for truly fine dining...at non-astronomical prices."

  • "Made a last-minute reservation at Damian's after my daughter and I sat for 20 minutes at Sorrento's with no service. As always, the service here was great and the food was solid. I would like to see the facilities upgraded / modernized at some point, but that's a minor detail so long as the service and food hold up. "

  • "Our driver from the Four Seasons Hotel recommended this restaurant. We were very happy with the delicious food and ambiance. Be sure to get the table side caesar salad prepared by your waiter. My husband raved over the lasagna. It was a very relaxed pace and we never felt rushed."

  • "Classic Italian in a quiet, refined setting. Great wait-staff, very knowledgeable and know when to be there, when to disappear. Food is familiar, but current twists and choices. Food was very good, cooked to proper temperature, doneness. Nice place, overall- not flashy or trendy."
