There were a lot of tables waiting on the shuttle to the theatre that caused some rushing around and once we indicated we were not in a rush, our waiter relaxed, but we were checked on frequently. The service was great, the atmosphere good, but the best part of it all was the food. We had a group of six people at our table and we all agree that this was one of the best meals we have had in Houston. I would highly recommend the tortellini, the filet or the pork hop. We all got different things planning on sharing a little bit with each other. Start to finish it was impeccable. Fast valet service so don't worry about parking. Range of Italian wines with reasonably priced options.. Variety of produce, meat, pasta, seafood so everyone easily found something they like. Experienced staff. I made reservations to take my executive assistant to celebrate Secretary's Day on April 24. She was very pleased with everything including the food, the service, the courteous waiter who took care of us. Damian's is the classic Italian restaurant, par excellence. We came for dinner on my birthday after having had a very disappointing lunch experience at a certain steakhouse in Highland Village whose name shall go unmentioned. So our faith in good service and even good food was severely diminished by dinner time. Well, Damian's restored our faith, and then some.
I'm not sure why it took me so long to come to this restaurant. I think it was because I had heard it was very expensive. Well, that is not the case. Yes, you will pay for premium cuts of meat and choice fish, as you should. There are so many amazing dishes to choose from. We went with two of the fish dishes. Excellent preparations, one came with shrimp and the other with crab. The portions of fish and shrimp/crab were very generous. A moderate-sized wine list provided many reasonably priced wines. The waiter recommended a truly perfect wine for our meals. The best staff who has been there forever. They all seem like family greeting you into their home for dinner. The pastry chef (who is married to the chef) is a gem. Most notably, the food and service was outstanding. Everyone in my party of three additional people were impressed with the food and service. An additional important feature offered by the restaurant free of charge was a shuttle service to downtown events. An important convenience since we did not have to rush through dinner to get to our vehicle to fight downtown traffic and the difficulty of finding a place to to park at an additional expense.
