Diner Reviews
  • "Classic Italian in a quiet, refined setting. Great wait-staff, very knowledgeable and know when to be there, when to disappear. Food is familiar, but current twists and choices. Food was very good, cooked to proper temperature, doneness. Nice place, overall- not flashy or trendy."

  • "It did not disappoint. It was the excellent food and service that I expected from previous visits. One of the best in town!"

  • "Seven of us were there for a small retirement dinner and we had the best time. The food and the service was wonderful"

  • "My husband and I were celebrating our 3rd anniversary and I have to say the food and service were not as good as before. We were sorely disappointed."

  • "As usual, Damian's did not disappoint. We had a table of 8 with 5 clients. Table spacing was very comfortable and service was excellent. Noise level was moderate which allowed our group to have business discussion without having to speak beyond normal level. Privacy was good as well which is always important in a business atmosphere. All in all a great experience."

  • "This place was posh but not overly so. The food was okay. Best bread and oil I've had but the lasagna was lacking. Didn't receive a wine list so not sure what is offered. Okay at best."

  • "Great Food as always. Food is amazing every time, and the service is quick. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting good Italian.... This place is like Carrabas on steroids...."

  • "My wife and I were excited to return to Damians after a long time. Unfortunately our experience was such that we will not return. Service was slow. My wife's steak was very overcooked. My food was luke warm. My wife urged me to eat it while she sat with nothing in front of her for several minutes. No one came to the table to apologize for the overcooked steak or the long wait. WE remembered Damian's as being a special place. There was nothing special about this experience at all."

  • "A toned down evening (8:30 pm) in a rustic part of town among established townsmen. Just delightful food, service and atmosphere..."

  • "Had friends in from DC. They loved the food and the fact that the noise lever was conducive to conversation. We also used the shuttle to the Wortham -- great service and I take advantage of it often."

  • "GOOD FOOD AND NOT AS NOISY AS OTHER FINE RESTAURANTS"

  • "Won a gift certificate to eat at Damian's through a silent auction at work. What a fantastic find. Food was delicious, staff was fantastic and the atmosphere was great."

  • "The food was delicious and the service, simply great. It was quiet also quiet which allowed to have a nice conversation. Thank you for such an excellent job! I really enjoyed it."

  • "Damian's was a great spot for dinner before heading over to the Alley Theater for a production of A Christmas Carol. Our waiter was very attentive and seemed to know the "regulars" who were also dining there. The atmosphere was great."

  • "The meal was excellent and memorable. Fresh and perfectly served. Impeccable presentation. The most impressive feature of the evening was the serving sequence and the timely and pertinent questions to make sure that the visit was enjoyable and relaxed. Great selection of drinks; from a pre-dinner Single Malt Scotch, great Chianti, and a Cognac, and a perfectly brewed Expresso. A feast for the senses, Bravo!"

  • "Food excellent. Service perfect. We were the last leave before closing. Service still excellent."

  • "We went for a birthday dinner. The food was very good although my wife's Shrimp Damian seemed smaller. Our drinks were outstanding. The only thing that wasn't good was our waiter who made no effort at all to engage us at all in any conversation, his goal seemed entirely to be how fast he could turn the table. Well we weren't in any hurry as our reservation was for 7 so we weren't going to any show."

  • "Very good italian food for Houston. Classic choices plus a list of old favorites. The soup was excellent comfort food. The red sauce was not too sweet. The list of after dinner drinks extensive. The two of us had a relaxed and enjoyable meal."

  • "We usually come for a special occasion and usually get a flounder/snapper dish. . Have never disappointed. Great food and professional service. Never rushed. Like dining in someone's home - reminds us of dinner in Italy."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Damian's. Very good service and perfect traditional Italian fare. we will return next time we are in Houston."

  • "The BF and I decided to give this place a try again after not having been in more than 10years. It is in our neighorhood but we just don't think about going any more. Now we know why we have stayed away for so long. The food is stuck in the 80's. The Asparagus Mike Wells was so overfried it might as well have been from a kids menu. The fish that the BF had was previoulsy frozen and mushy. The risotto was not properly cooked risotto but rice with some sauce and fillers thrown in. My veal was overcooked and flavorless."

  • "I have eaten at Damians over 50 times since it opened in the 1980s. This was the first time I sent a dish back-an overcooked Snapper Butera. I hope it was just a bad night, and not indicative of a failing kitchen."

  • "I was excited to take my wife to Damien's for our anniversary. She loves Italian food and had been dropping hints about trying Damien's for a while now. The service was nice, but she was extremely disappointed with her food. She ordered the $40 pasta with lobster and crab, and the lobster was so tough she could not cut it with her knife. She sent it back and the second serving was also overcooked AND the chef had left shells in the pasta. This was a terrible choice to celebrate our special night."

  • "Dinner was great! For the month of March they are offering "waiters favorites". Highly recommend Paxtor's favorite -- salmon. Yummm! And like always really appreciate the shuttle to the symphony. What a pleasant way to travel."

  • "Dining at Damian's is always a special occasion for us! Delicious food, attentive staff, comfortable atmosphere is a standard at Damians!"

  • "When I booked the restaurant I did it because I love their food. They did not disappoint me and made points with my wife who had never eaten at Damian's. When I found out I could leave my car in Valet and take their courtesy bus to the theater it was another star added to my review. The only downer was that the waiter and staff really seemed to press us to move more quickly. My wife does not go out as much as I do since I entertain in business, so taking her time at a meal is paramount to me having a good time. Next time I will warn the waiter to slow down "for larger tip"! Great food and atmosphere, though, no doubt!"

  • "I always dine at Damian's prior to attending the symphony. The restaurant is celebrating its 30th anniversary so just the fact that the restaurant is still a popular one after so many years is a testament to its great food and service. There are not many restaurants in Houston that serve "real" Italian food, but Damian's does. I should know since I'm half Italian and grew up eating it every Sunday. The servers have been there for years and know their repeat customers. The prices are also right in line with what I'd expect from a good Italian restaurant. The icing on the cake is the complimentary shuttle service that will take you to the theatre or symphony after you finish your meal."

  • "Went in on a date and the service was great. From the complimentary valet to the welcoming at the door to the kind waiter, we had nothing bad to say about the service. Food was great! Being vegetarian, the Gnocchi Verdi as an appetizer was amazing. The pastas and eggplant parmigiana were made to perfection. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to take clients or a date. Also, the house bread was more than addicting!"

  • "The place is pricey. Otherwise, the food is absolutely delicious."

  • "We were visiting Houston from out of town and found Damian's under Italian restaurants, and thought we'd give it a try. They are very spendy, but worth at least a one-time visit! I would have appreciated my salad coming with my meal, but it was $10 extra for a fairly small salad (and I wasn't informed that it was not included), but it was good. I would definitely go back to Damian's if I'm ever in Houston again."

  • "I know this is a Houston institution, but unfortunately it took 10 years of living here to finally get to Damian's. I was not disappointed -- food, wine, service, etc -- great all around. No complaints whatsoever. Delicious food, great staff. Will be back again soon."

  • "Damian's never disappoints for pre-theater dining and the very convenient shuttle to Hobby Center."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "This is a great restaurant for dining prior to a performance at the Hobby Center. We wanted to dine in a nice restaurant convenient to the Hobby Center. The food was great and the service was exceptional. We did not use the shuttle that they provide for taking diners to and from the Hobby Center. The next time, we plan to take advantage of the shuttle. Make sure that you plan in advance by making reservations for dinner and for the shuttle. Great restaurant - highly recommend."

  • "It had been a while since we had dined at Damian's but it was as fine as we remember it being. Great ambience, impeccable service and the food excellent food. My wife had the fish special and there was no doubt the fish was fresh and prepared just right. I had the veal special there is no doubt that when we go back, I'll have it again if it offered. From the time we arrived until we left, the server s we right there and catered to our needs. What has always impressed me at Damian's is their attention to detail. I will recommend this spot frequently."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our experience at Damian's. The food was superb and the atmosphere was great. It reminded us of being back in Florence! Definitely recommend"

  • "This was our first visit to Damian's but it will definitely not be our last. They know how to do pasta! Fresh house made pasta, cooked to a perfect al dente, with just the right amount of sauce so that the beautiful pasta is not swimming nor is it too dry. The service at Damian's was perfectly on point to make for a wonderful and memorable dining experience!"

  • "A usual favorite of ours that we frequent before theatre plays. Food is typically very good, wait service is great. Love the valet service and shuttle to/from theatre. Overall, a really great place."

  • "This spot is a Houston fixture...but we'd never been. I'll dispense with the play by play and say if you love well prepared "traditional" Italian...with a few "twists, go...just go!! You will not be sorry... PS...try the "Scotti Wells" Asparagus appetizer!!"
