  • "Recently had a reservation and I was completely blown away by this restaurant. Not only was the ambience perfect for a date with a romantic feeling but it's a great place to go and unwind after work. I had an excellent waiter named Marvin he was nothing short of perfection. When I go back I'm definitely sitting in his section. I recommend the brisket is cooked to perfection and simply fantastic. I will definitely be back soon."

  • "I have been dining at D'Amato's for many years. The menu has always been unique with many delectable options and the service is always top-notch. Add the mood & vibe of the place and it's a very enjoyable experience. Food is cooked to order, prompt, and served with a smile. We like to linger when schedules and crowd allow. The dinner for two currently available on Tuesdays is an amazing and delicious offer. It consists of fresh, tasty bread for dipping to get you started, then soup or salad, followed by tender steak, succulent lobster, and steamed veggies, and if that isn't enough to grab ya get this: the deal includes a BOTTLE of wine AND a dessert! Whatever your occasion, whatever your taste, this place does not disappoint."

  • "This is the first time here and I really enjoyed the food, but they brought my husband lemonade and the glass was dirty. The tables were falling apart so I think they need to update that, but when the food arrived it was Amazing. I would go here again."

  • "I had only been here once before, for an event, so a friend and I decided to try it out for Royal Oak restaurant week. Fantastic food and service. I'll definitely be back to check out their happy hour specials, as well!"

  • "The waitstaff is great and friendly the food was delicious...especially the donuts"

  • "We enjoyed a fun night out with friends at this comfortable restaurant. We sometimes forget about it being just slightly off the beaten path but it's actually more convenient to get to with ample parking across the street. Our server Josh was delightful and attentive."

  • "The fish special was very skimpy looking on the plate. It could have been filled with a few more vegetables. Taste ok. The stuffed shells, maybe rich in flavor, because i got tired of eating them. They felt heavy on the stomach. If i returned, i would never order those 2 dishes. Everyone has different tastes and expectations. Service was great."

  • "Had to leave. Waited 45 minutes and only received a bottle of wine and bread. Saw my waiter twice and both times he was busy servicing the banquet room adjacent to our table."

  • "We took advantage of the Thursday night promotion of Prime Rib for two for $50.00. The salad was fresh, the beef was nearly perfect with no "tenderizer" taste and done to perfection. Presentation was very well done, the wine was a nice paring with the meal and the service was excellent. Desert was an unexpected but very pleasant change from the usual. We thought our server was joking when he mentioned something about "donuts" . Overall a very nice experience."

  • "Food was great but restaurant was very loud. I felt like loud music just added to the confusion. Too loud for conversation. It felt like a New Orleans bar during Mardi Gras. Sorry but acoustics and ambiance matter."

  • "I was pleased with my visit to this restaurant. I wasn't sure twhat to expect but it is a secret gem. It is located in a wonderful spot in Royal Oak. The food was fabulous, the prices were good, the service was fantastic (ask for Pete, he's the BEST) and the place is chic! My girlfriends and I went for a night out and it far surpassed all of our expectations!!! This is now on my favorite list for Royal Oak restaurants! I highly recommend this place!!!"

  • "We enjoyed our dinner and a previous brunch. I'd recommend this restaurant to all ages, food requests and more. To ALL note, your GPS will NOT state Sherman as is the address. It will state, Lafayette, South. Sorry to the restaurant, but the first time I'd been there, I was lost. I have a NEW car/GPS and it continually took me NORTH on Sherman instead of South which IS LAFAYETTE. I could be wrong, but my new upscale car isn't typically inaccurate. thank you for a pleasurable evening and a recent brunch, Pam"

  • "Decided to dine at a restaurant my wife and I had never been too before. The food was very good and while I cannot remember the name of the wine, my wife loved her glass of red wine. The service was good, but very much at a relaxed pace. If you are in a hurry, don't dine here."

  • "Nice place. The waiter did a good job considering how busy he was. My fish was very good, the Lamb chops were also excellent. The other two in our party had a checken dish and pasta, no complaint. Only draw back was in the pricing of the drinks. Two had Grey Goose on the rocks at $8.50 (kind of standard $) Two had Grey Goose up and were charged $12.50? An additional $4.00 per drink seemed kind of expensive for a splach of vermouth But, overall I would go back."

  • "The new management of D'Amato's have certainly hit their stride with a terrific and diverse new menu. The food is consistently good and the service is impeccable! If you are a regular patron or if you haven't tried D'Amato's recently, I urge you to stop in for a great experience."

  • "I wanted to suprise my wife with a nice romantic dinner at a fancy italian restaurant. I felt like from the start my wife and I were cast aside, and almost forgotten about. Food was okay, beer was extremely over priced! The waiter was terrible. I finished my beer with the salad and appetizer and was never given the opportunity to order again until we were ready to leave. Seats were very wobbly, overall I would not recommend and I will never Return!"

  • "Food was great. I had the surf and turf and it was cooked correctly and the presentation was nice. Atmosphere was nice and not too loud. Service was not that good. After our meal arrived we never saw the waiter again except the fly by to drop the bill on the table. Would go back as the food was great. Will just make sure we get a different waiter."

  • "D'amato's was an excellent choice for Valentines Day. Romantic and good food. Very good variety on the menu. Lamb Chops were done to perfection. Not too pricy."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Overall, a most enjoyable Valentine's Day dinner. Food was outstanding (get the chicken siciliano) and drinks were strong. We had Pete as our waiter and that by far made the evening. Be sure to ask for Pete's section if he's working, you won't be disappointed."

  • "We went to D'Amatos on valentines day. We were looking for something with good food but still with a laid back atmosphere. This fit the bill just right. The food was good with generous portions and we had not issues with the service. Goodnight Gracie's is right next door and it looked like there were quite a few people already in there dancing by the time we left. The music was good too. The only drawback I saw was that some of the finishes in the dining area seemed a little old and worn. They could use a little upgrade to make the place really shine."

  • "I made the servant ion about 1week before valentines day. I received 2 follow up emails and a phone call confirming my reservation and telling me that we would have a2hour time limit. When we got there the place was not that busy and when we left there were plenty of open tables. The food was very good and so was the wait staff. Just a little annoyed that I felt like I was under a time constraint, I could certainly understand if they were booked, but they obviously were not."

  • "My husband and I got married at this restaurant and try to return each yet to celebrate our anniversary. This year was even better than the test because the new manager/owner took us on a tour of the building and bought us our drinks and apps at the bar before dinner. My wife an I both have backgrounds in the restaurant industry and really appreciated this sincere and generous gesture. The staff was extremely friendly and outgoing. Food was amazing as usual...we had the beef carpaccio , calamari, beef brisket, and fillet, and tiramisu. Our only complaint was the steak wasn't our favorite dish we've had there... The first and only disappoint in 5 years eating there . Overall we Highly recommend."

  • "Had a group of girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. D'Amato's was a great place to have this dinner. The waitor was fantastic - split the bill appropriately, no hassle for requests to split the bill ... and some meals. Very accomodating! Highly recommend."

  • "The menu could command the prices charged except the execution is off. The food was hot but very bland. The stuffed shells were stuffed with too much ricotta and no seasoning. I would suggest the clams in white wine sauce another guest had. It had the most flavor. The house Cabernet Sauvignon was exceptional for the price also. The service was soooo slow! We were there for 2 1/2 hours and an hour of it was waiting to be cashed out. May try one more time but I doubt it'll be a favorite."

  • "The food wasn't the rave, although it was good, but the ambiance and the staff were amazing. It is very rare to find such amazing service. The martinis were perfect! Every time I visit Michigan I will be sure to stop in here."

  • "2 Sundays in a row for brunch- took the rest of the family and they loved it! Great food and breakfast cocktails (esp. Bloody Mary bar). Love the band as well! Will be back with friends!!"

  • "We had a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner for a party of 6. Matt, our server, was fantastic, and the food was absolutely out of this world!!"

  • "My daughter and I went to D'Amato's for brunch on Sunday morning to visit and catch up. What a wonderful place! The bottomless Bellinis and mimosas were great, and the menu selections were out of this world. Then to too it off, here comes the three piece band with 30's jazz. How perfect! I'm recommending this restaurant to all I know, and returning next Sunday for brunch with my family. Thanks also for the great service and crab cake eggs Benedict suggestion!"

  • "We were given a Gift Certificate and had eaten with you before. Compared to our favorite Italian restaurants, Giovannis and Magdalenos, this evening was, from beginning to end, not in the same league. Our waiter was great but the food was mediocre and the noise level of customers and overhead music did not allow you to speak at the table."
    Dined on 12/20/2013
  • "Several weeks had passed since we dined at D'Amato's and during that time, the restaurant sold. We returned about three weeks ago and went back last weekend. The new menu is diverse and the food has been really good! As always, if you like cocktails and a great bottle of wine, you will not be disappointed. Wonderful to see that D'Amato's continues to be our neighborhood gem."

  • "We dined here on a tuesday night which is when they have a surf and turn deal (I can't remember what they call it). It's a petite filet, lobster tail entree, soup or salad, side of pasta, bottle of wine and desserts for two for only $50. I can't remember the last time my husband and I were able to dine anywhere for only $50 for us both AND the food was incredible. They didn't just give you cheap food because it was an inexpensive meal. It was delicious and the service was very friendly. The music coming in the dining room from the attached Good Night Gracie was lively and fun, it made for a wonderful experience all around. Will certainly be back!"
