We"ve always believed that dining should be a social occasion, a time when friends, family, and coworkers can enjoy great conversation over a great meal.

We believe in supporting our local artisans and staying connected to our Black Hills community. At a time when the area is growing and expanding, we're striving to keep the flavor of the region alive.

Inspired by the history of this area, both the aesthetics of the building and the diversity of the menu are true to our local roots, something no nation-wide franchise can duplicate. Certainly, there are other steakhouses out there, but none like ours.

From the first design to the actual construction, we've focused on creating a balance between upscale dining and a casual atmosphere-crafting a chic steakhouse where the kids are welcome too.

The rest is easy-buy the very best meat possible and prepare it correctly.

We were hungry and wanted to eat the dinner. The steak was fine although the salad was so-so. Onion rings were great...."

From the bison art in front to when you walk in the door, it's a great feeling. You can tell the owners and employees are like family. The food ( I had the buffalo topped with bacon special - WOW!!) and service were outstanding!!!!! I highly recommend it and they will not disappoint!!!"

  • "The Dakotah is a very attractive place. Unfortunately the food and service are not as good as the ambience. We had a small top sirloin and a New York strip steak. The top sirloin was very thin and overcooked. The New York was neither tender nor flavorful and certainly wasn't worth $34. The service was amateurish. We received the check before the dessert. The salad and dessert were the high points of the meal."

Waitress was very attentive and took our order right away. We ordered the Buffalo Satay skewers for an app and enjoyed it very much, great flavor and unique presentation. We ordered fillets for our main courses and were very pleased with them, cooked to our order and excellent quality and flavor. Salads and sides were unique and excellent. Kitchen was a little on the slow side the night we were there, but we were in no hurry and enjoyed our experience at Dakotah Steakhouse. Prices were very reasonable given the quality and quantity of food. 28oz bone in ribeye looked awesome!"

Apple crisp was ordered for dessert and we got that free as a diner next to us had a coupon for a free dessert. Very reasonable price as well. If I am ever in the area again, I will be sure to go."

A personal favorite is the buffalo rib appetizer (large enough for my main course with an added side salad). Love the atmosphere, and Riedel wine glasses add a special touch. Saw families dining, too, so it appears to be family friendly. Wait staff is very friendly and courteous. Has become our favorite restaurant in town."

Glass of wine took over 20 minutes to get the first time, yet when our food finally arrived, an hour plus later, a different waitress brought it out and had another glass of wine back to us in less than five minutes. Bread took 20 minutes, it literally was like a progressive dinner....this was Memorial Day weekend, graduating night for the local high school if your are understaffed....PLAN!!"

  • "We enjoyed everything about the Dakotah Steakhouse. We're locals so we will go there more often now that we've dined there. Really enjoyed the buffalo rib appetizer. Hint: it's large with enough meat that it can serve as a main course if you add a side item like a cup of soup or a side salad, or could also be an appetizer to share (tender, fall off the bone goodness). My steak was cooked perfectly, and our waitress was great! Enjoyed the atmosphere, too. Even the restrooms were a pleasure to visit."

  • "We were impressed with the ambience of the restaurant. It has a centered fireplace, comfortable buffalo leather chairs, and a majestic, open cathedral-like ceiling. Our salads were tasty with sufficient dressing, and the hot bread was delicious. A pheasant-stuffed jalapeño pepper appetizer was tasty, but its breading was too heavy. Our entire party ordered steaks; two were beef and one bison. We all ordered medium rare, but the steaks were more rare in character. The bison ribeye had a significant amount of gristle and fat, and was somewhat tough. (This prides itself on availability of locally-raised bison, so we are surprised that bison tenderloin—filet mignon—was not available.) Bottom line: nice atmosphere; food needs improvement."
