I looked for a sushi restaurant online and found this one and decided to try it out. I included some details below: - overall the food was good, and the server was very nice What I ordered - while reviewing the menu, I noticed they served bibimbap in the hot stoneware bowl, so as a main, I choose this one, a green tea, miso soup and the green dragon maki rolls. - the tea came first and although I was disappointed in seeing a tea bag, and no option for a pot of tea (I think loose leaf is superior), I tried some and it was pretty good - the bibimbap was good, I had the tofu and my dinner companion had the beef, which she said was very good - the green dragon rolls were very good

I'll start of by saying that my wife and I went there on a Wednesday evening, so in this large restaurant there were very few people. With the lower number of patrons, it was fairly quiet, with the exception of the vocal jazz music playing. I assume on a Friday or Saturday evening the noise level would vary quite a bit. Ambiance-wise, with the lower noise and private booth to ourselves, it gave a good intimate feel to the dining experience, which we both enjoyed. Staff were also very polite and attentive. Finally, the food was excellent. Both my wife and I had gyoza appetizers, followed by both vegetarian and fish maki rolls. All food tasted fresh and delicious. After weeks of searching we have found our new go-to restaurant!

Family informal dinner ( for four); personable and friendly atmosphere on a very quiet night (a Tuesday); pro: good service, great food both in variety and quality, and excellent value. Con: only criticism--everyone was crowded into one side of a large space, with the result that despite the spacious setting, a raucous nearby table interfered by their own celebrations; however, we will return whenever the opportunity arises.

A great place to go for sushi lovers as well as for the more reserved appetite! I have been to the Dake Japanese Fusion Restaurant on a couple of occasions; once was for a birthday celebration and the other was for a regular dinner night. Both nights we received excellent food and service. It is a family friendly restaurant, but also great for mature adults who are looking for a fine dining restaurant with a quiet environment. Strongly recommended!

We went to Dake for Father's day. There were 4 of us in our group: my husband, two adult children and me. My husband had been there before for lunch but this was a first visit for the rest of us. The décor is very nice. Everything we ordered was yummy. The tempura was hot, light and crispy; the sashimi was fresh....the crispy crunch roll was our favorite. Great service! We'll be back!

I have dined here two times now, a year apart. Both times have brought me delicious food and great atmosphere. I would definitely go more often but it is a bit expensive for dinner for my rather tight budget. That being said, the maki rolls are definitely worth the price, you get a lot of food that's high quality with good presentation. The waiting staff are always very friendly and efficient. The design of the restaurant itself is nice with seating that can make it feel romantic and quiet, but still apart of the overall vibrant dining experience. I can't wait to go back!

although we did wait at the door for while before being seated, the rest of the evening was lovely. Great lighting and atmosphere - we had requested a romantic table in our online reservation and we got a nice private spot that was quiet. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was presented beautifully and was actually more than enough for the two of us! near the end our time there we found we were waiting a long time for our check and to pay etc, but we weren't in a rush so it was okay.

Food was excellent and presentation was beautiful! We had sushi, vegetable tempura and tuna tataki and all were very delicious. Our waiter was very pleasant as well! The ambience is also very nice... The only disappointment was the overpriced cost of a cup of green tea, normally served as a standard pot at even the nicest of Sushi restaurants. I ordered a green tea ice cream for my daughter. It came as a medium sized frost bitten ball with ice crystals on it and at the whopping cost of $4.95! Looked like it was pre-portioned and left in the freezer that way to serve to guests. Go to DAKE for sushi, tempura and teppanaki but stick to water and pass on dessert! SUSHI was excellent!

My first time there, had a short business meeting with 2 cohorts. The booth seemed more private than in most places, so good for discussion over lunch. It was Friday, so quite busy, probably ¾ full or better, thus service was friendly but the arrival of the food was a bit slow. Next time we will allocate a longer lunch period in order to better enjoy the fare. Food was great, I had the salmon bento box, perfect. Friend had the udon, she loved it, other friend had a sushi plate and it too was fine. Food came hot where appropriate and well presented. Next lunch meeting in Kitchener will definitely be at Dake.

Came here for my birthday for the second year in a row. We ordered the largest sushi boat for 5 people, and it was more than enough. I loved the option to change the rolls and just pay the price difference - that's an awesome accommodation that not many sushi places do. Presentation was beautiful, as always, and the service was great. It would have been nice to get little salads along with the miso soup offered.

Came here for lunch and ordered the sashimi bento. The salad was delicious, and the seaweed salad was a nice treat, too. I loved the presentation, the sashimi was super fresh, and the service was fast, but welcoming. A little pricey for lunch, but I'll be back (it's just too delicious to stay away!) This is my favourite sushi place in Waterloo Region by a landslide.

We have been to Dake a few times now and the food has always been fast and so good. We usually love to go to all you can eat sushi bars and gave Dake a try and for the little extra you pay it is worth it just for the quality of the sushi alone. All you can eat is good but it is like the fast food if sushi compared to Dake sushi/maki rolls.

I went here for a date with my boyfriend on valentines day, and the service was terrible. I didn't receive my soup and it took about half an hour before we even met our waitress. The menu was formatted weird and we weren't sure what the prices were. I was expecting it to be like an all-you-can-eat style place where you write down what you want, but it was not. This restaurant is extremely over priced.. we got 8 pieces of maki each and our total bill came to 25$. It was so unenjoyable we ended up going across the street to McDonald's. While at McDonald's we saw the couple who left dake just before we did eating a meal. Obviously that couple wasn't satisfied with their meal either.

I took my girlfriend to Dake for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We enjoy sushi, sashimi, etc. and we're wanting to try this place for a long time. What we didn't expect was that it would become our new favourite Japanese restaurant! The sashimi was fresh, cold and flavourful. The server (minus the slight language barrier, which was excusable) was friendly, courteous, and extremely happy to serve us. The miso soup they bring out with each appetizer and entree was fantastic, not overly salty and very flavourful. Our hot food was hot and the cold food was cold, no complaints. Want to try the Teppanyaki next!

This was our first time at Dake and was a great location for a girls' lunch - party of four. We each had a select maki roll with tempura. The rolls (8) were fresh and filling and the tempura was equally fresh and light (not greasy). Thought it looked like a lot of food when it arrived, it was all light and satisfying (not heavy). Our waiter was excellent: personable and funny. He gave us a quick overview of the menu, since it is extensive, and provided a few funny stories on the side. We went on a Wednesday @12:30 and the reservations I made were not necessary. There was plenty of room for walk-ins mid-week.

After hearing so much about Dake and reading other customer reviews, I decided to dine there. The decor was very nice. Our server was very warm and friendly, but seemed flustered. I wondered if they were understaffed because I did not see many waitstaff out on rounds. A roll was ordered but not brought due to a mix up, which our server rectified apologetically. Where I felt Dake lacked, was in their rolls. Although portions were big, ingredients seemed fresh, and the presentation was nice, the rolls we had ordered were under-seasoned, and somehow off. I still can't put my finger on it. I could have excused the lack of seasoning if they had included sauces to make up for it, but there was very little sauce. Perhaps Teppanyaki is better?

Was spending the holidays without the family this year and needed a place to dine for the Christmas. No restaurants were open other than Dake, so I made last minute online reservations via Open Table and headed over. The staff was super friendly despite it being a holiday. They were relatively busy considering it was a holiday. Drinks were delivered promptly and Dinner was served very quickly. Food was excellent!! And for the price that you pay, you receive quite a lot of food. Appetizers are small portions as per norm. Everything was very good, and my holiday wasnt ruined. Thank you Dake for a wonderful experience. Btw we ordered Bay Breeze cocktails, Popcorn Calamari, Sundae Sushi Roll, Spicy Chicken Entree and Seafood Teriyaki Entree.

This was our first visit to DAKE, and we'd certainly go again. I wish we had known about the option of reserving a table where the chef does all the chopping and cooking - and we'll try that next time - but our food was delicious. It was hot and tasty, although we weren't even half done our soup before the entrees arrived, so pacing could have been a bit better. Our server was superb - really friendly and helpful, and very present when we needed him. Lots of choice for food - which will mean we'll be going back several times to try a variety of things!

I have also been there for tappenyaki dinner which was a lot of fun. This place is brilliant and will not disappoint you. On the way out I noticed that they had at least six of the best beers on tap: Mill Street, Stella, Sapporo, Keiths...we will be back for an evening. The fresh food and fast service make it great for lunch too. I heard a take out menu is coming, but everything on the menu is available for take out. LOVE their combo - any roll plus half seafood udon, came with salad and miso soup. Very filling.
