When you first walk in, there is a very active bar scene, with the dining room towards the back. The pleasant surprise was that there was an adjacent dining room that was even quieter, and had a full view of the kitchen. It is reasonably-priced by San Francisco standards, with genial service and decent food. I liked it well enough to go back the following night as well. I had the good fortune to have "Peni" as my cheery, witty server both nights. While I can't say that I sampled the menu very deeply, I'll say that the food was entirely palatable, nicely presented, fresh, and perfectly acceptable. The gluten free menu was a huge reason we dined here, and they had a ton of options on there. It was a first for both of them but I go here whenever I'm in the city. The ambience is 1930's and they loved it.
I had the salmon and asparagus. It was good but could've used a potato or some starch. My friends had the Thai noodle salad and tbe quesadilla We also had the cobbler for dessert. It was great

And he also immediately said ok I will add the ACT discount to your check. WOW! We did not know and did appreciate being told. The food was very good - My husband had the fish and chips which came with lots of very good slaw, the fish was delectable and since I had the delicious crab cake appetizer as my entree there was plenty of food on the table for both of us. We were put in a booth on the backside of the restaurant which seemed to be a lot quieter than the front room. The waiter was great and we were never left wanting for anything. The place is quite pricy tho. Don't forget to add in the drinks, only a couple drinks a piece added up to more than the steak and we got the cheap drinks. I had the salmon burger and it was excellent and came with grilled asparagus instead of fries and was very filling and satisfying. Just a short walk on Geary to get to this restaurant. Service is always good. Wife and I have dined here on numerous occassions and service has been consistent.
