Diner Reviews
  • "The made to order donuts will change your life. Great drink specials, well balanced plates, fun small bites."

  • "The Dahlia Lounge's chopped chicken salad is one of the best dishes in Seattle (lunch menu). We love the classy décor here, the feeling of being tucked away somewhere--as it happens, in a little food paradise. Go Dahlia! It's our favorite Seattle place."

  • "Let me start by saying that the restaurant was extremely flexible with us. We ended up being over thirty minutes late for our reservation due to traffic. I called twice to inform them of my status, and we were immediately seated upon or arrival. By that time, we had 45 minutes to eat before we had to leave for the theater. I told our server our predicament, and he informed us there would be no issue further accommodating our tight schedule. He was right! Out appetizer was out almost immediately, and our entrees followed almost as soon as we were done with the app. When we ordered, we informed him of our desire to share each other's order (duck and halibut). To our surprise, they pre-split our order. The food, the service--was great!"

  • "We originally went to find the Dahlia Bakery after seeing it on Unique Sweets and was pleasantly surprised to see there was a restaurant as well! Both places were fabulous! And the Triple Coconut Cream Pie was definitely worth the trip for!! Yum."

  • "Dahlia is very close to where we live and likely touted, but I've never felt comfortable eating there because they didn't have a gluten free menu. Now they do and they have some excellent gluten free choices."

  • "We plan all our vacations around eating awesome local food and this was head and shoulders above any of the comparably-priced meals we had in Seattle. Will definitely come back to visit the city just for this experience."
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "The halibut was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. I also loved the bread salad and the donuts for dessert. I definitely recommend this place. It's a bit pricey but well worth it."

  • "This is the first Tom Douglas restaurant I have been to, and it lived up to its recommendation. The food was very fresh and the flavors and combinations were interesting and delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly! The table was ready at our reservation time, and the servers were helpful and attentive."

  • "This restaurant lives up to its reputation! The staff is eager to please and the food is superb. So glad we had the opportunity to include this on our visit to Seattle."

  • "Delicious food, absolutely THE freshest fish we've ever had! Kyle was our server and we had a wonderful experience overall. You must save room for the homemade donuts from Dahlia Bakery!"

  • "My long-time clients sold their business last month and we celebrated at Dahlia Lounge. It was fabulous - a perfect place for a special celebration! The service was excellent and the menu diverse and divine!"
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "This place is way past its prime and the only real highlight of the meal was the Shrimp/Scallion Potsticker. Too many places to go in Seattle that are much better."
    Dined on 7/14/2014
  • "We have a 2 year old and a 10 month old with us. We were out for whole day and were wearing really casual. Thought it might be a problem with the outfit and kids, as we were the only guests with little kids. However, the staffs were really friendly, and they even had kids menu. The food was excellent. Even my son's pasta with cheese tastes excellent."

  • "My husband and I have wonderful memories of the rib eye steak from the Dhalia Lounge - but sadly, that's no longer on the menu. We took my parents the next time around. The food was still very good and the ambiance was lovely as always. Our server wasn't spectacular. I jokingly pointed out that it was a bit silly to list the oysters on the half shell on the menu at $3 ea/$18 half doz. and I guess I offended her, or perhaps she didn't understand but she was very rude after that to us - I certainly wouldn't choose her again. I would go back to this restaurant, perhaps more for the good memories of fun times and good food, but certainly not for the service."

  • "Dahlia Lounge is my top pick for a really nice dining experience in Seattle, but my recent Friday night experience leaves me reminding myself this is not NY, but Go-to-bed-at a-sensible-Seattle."

  • "We celebrated our 5th anniversary here. We were wished a Happy Anniversary upon our arrival and given a corner booth. The server was very patient with our indecision and helpful with recommendations. We considered having just plate after plate of the excellent green salad, but decided, with so many delicious offerings, to have an actual dinner. Although my halibut was cooked slightly more than I would have liked, my husband's steak was perfectly cooked. Everything else was excellent. If we could afford it, we would eat here far more often."

  • "At a time when the restaurant was almost empty, our server was almost invisible"

  • "The food was amazing, and I think I have high standards. The server was very friendly and knowledgable. I brought my own wine, as this was my birthday, but the wine list looked impressive and reasonably priced. I want to go back to Seattle so that I can try other things on the menu!"

  • "Whatever they do at the DL, they do it right. Lamb was cooked to perfection. Scallops were seared exactly right."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Very little food for the price. Flavors seemed odd - we ordered a dish that seemed to be an Asian "fusion" of sorts and it just turned out that none of it was done well. Won't be back, and will avoid this along with several other TD restaurants. Please - Serious Pie or Lola are better options in the area if you want to pay too much for too little."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "I got the shrimp cobb salad. I love cobb salad and sadly, this was a disappointment. It was almost all lettuce. It was also about the most expensive cobb I've had. My husband had duck hash and he liked his dish."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "So many fabulous places in Seattle but this is too good to skip. Fresh, inventive and always something new to try."
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "Consistently great. Nice entrees, especially fish. I depend on this place! Why can't Tom build some place in University Place, WA?"
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "Dined with out of town guests who were extremely impressed. The ambiance , service, variety, presentation and taste were all wonderful!"
    Dined on 7/1/2014
  • "Really, really good food. All of our dishes were seafood in one form or another (except of course the exquisite coconut cream pie Tom Douglas restaurants are known for, and which did not disappoint), and all were fresh, delicately prepared with gently balanced flavors. Delightful, satisfying, our go-to spot for that really wonderful meal you're willing to splurge for. The prices are up there for this out-of-town girl, but I'm happy to save up for the experience! Oh, and the house martini was the best I've ever had..."

  • "Beet salad was delicious and unique. The salmon was tasty but for that caliber restaurant I was a little disappointed. I have had better. The pretzel bread on the plate was surprisingly the best thing. Potstickers we top notch."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "The items they got right were fabulous. The items they got wrong were terrible. The geoduck was well past its prime and downright fishy tasting. The regular duck was overcooked. The crabcakes might've been the best I have had in my life, and the salmon was fabulous. Half of our meal was great, the other half was bad. If they could put it together and have everything as good is the crabcakes, this would be a five-star restaurant."

  • "Salmon was blah - skin was cooked well - very crispy, but that was it as far as any special flavor. Steak was over sauced and tough. Scallops were bland as well. Fourth diner can't remember what he had. VERY $$$$ for the lack of originality, flavor, or uniqueness. Tom D are you riding on your fame? Coconut Cream pie was delicious!! Best I ever had. But I'm not a dessert person, so - forgettable."

  • "Dahlia is my family's favourite restaurant to eat at when we visit Seattle. I've never been disappointed. The food and service are always incredible. This time I had the bread salad, which I hadn't tried before and it was fantastic. The doughnuts for a dessert are a can't miss also."

  • "I took my family to Dahlia Lounge for a post-graduation dinner. I'm sure it's a great restaurant, but my experience was awful. For the price shouldn't every dinning experience be awesome. Food: The short rib appetizer was incredible. However, my fish was extremely dry and my dads steak was over cooked, I can not speak for anyone else at the table. After placing our order, our meal for 8 did not come out for an hour and 15 min. Service: In that time, the waitress did not come by once to check on us. Before ordering it took me over 20 min to flag her down because I couldn't for the life of me make eye contact. She didn't even come around to ask us for drinks. I've worked in the service industry and this was unacceptable, even for Seattle."

  • "I've been coming to Dahlia Lounge for the past 20 years and I've always had a consistently delicious meal. Simply prepared foods with incredible flavor. Make sure you try the bread salad and the doughnuts with seasonal jam and marscapone (both are always a treat)! Make sure you bring a dollar or two for James, the homeless man that greets visitors and keeps the area clean, and extend him your hand and a smile. He's a good man."

  • "Was in town for the marathon and tried the Dahlia Lounge as it was very close to our hotel and the reviews were very good. The restaurant did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. Service was very attentive and the atmosphere very warm and inviting. I would definitely return if in the area."

  • "From the outside the place looked deserted but once inside you can tell the diners were enjoying their meals. Very good size portions for priuce of quality food. However when paying for bread and there are choices one should be told that in advance."

  • "Happy to enjoy another delicious meal at this Seattle favorite! Had a seafood sampler appetizer which was ideal for sharing. The halibut with pappadum and chickpeas was great as was the salmon. Nice atmosphere and attentive but not pesky service."

  • "First time visit. Recommended by several friends & it was great. Food & service were second to none. Would definitely go back."

  • "We're always happy with our food and the service at Dahlia. Brunch usually includes our two kids, and they've done a great job accommodating all four of us more than once. The bacon is to die for, the eggs benedict is a dependable favorite, and there's nothing on the menu that has ever disappointed."

  • "Usually go here for dinner but lunch was very good. A baked turkey for a great turkey sandwich , and a very tasty potato salad, with homemade pickles. Take me anytime!"
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "Had an early dinner on Tuesday, June 10th with friends in town from the mid-west. Just the typical great Dahlia Lounge experience. A chef prepared strawberry concoction with cocktails. The table side service was professional and attentive. My guests had salmon and raved about it. I did oysters and then the risotto."

  • "The food was so so - the $26 appetizer sampler was tasteless."

  • "I had halibut w/ chickpeas and curry sauce which is one of best fish dishes I have ever had in a restaurant. "
