music playing in the background. Guests enjoy the hospitality and fine home cooking that the country is famous for. The restaurant serves authentic Greek cuisine, prepared simply and deliciously, using only the freshest and purest ingredients. The menu starts with a large selection of hot and cold meze, and an array of classic salads, as well as a few innovations. Entrees include many of the traditional dishes, a selection of charcoal-grilled meats and fish, and a few intriguing additions, such as grilled quail on a bed of spinach, and braised lamb shank with hilopites (a type of pasta). Delicious, homemade baklava, galaktoboureko and rice pudding are prepared fresh daily in our kitchen.

We had an early curtain (7 PM) and were reluctant to have a 5PM reservation after reading some reviews implying delays. We ended up going before 5. This turned out to be a time when the staff has a meal. The restaurant was practically empty. The service was prompt and friendly. The appetizers were very good but the entrees were only fair. The moussaka was dry and flavorless. The lamb was better, but mounds of undressed pasta did not add to the dish. We were fed, but the meal was not memorable in any aspect. This is disappointing since it was an evening marking a special occasion.

On a Monday night (no theater) it was quiet and relaxed, we got good service, were not rushed and they gave us a complimentary dessert and dessert wine. Excellent experience. I have been there on a theater night and although it was fine, this was a much nicer evening.

I have dined at Dafni Greek Taverna several times and it has yet to disappoint! The Food is amazing and very authentic. The food is fresh and delicious - consistently good! I love eating here because the staff are very welcoming and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. The noise level is comfortable and there is always something on the menu that appeals to me. If you enjoy Greek food, this restaurant is a find!! Prices are fair as well which is pleasing, too! Great pre-theater. They get you in and out quickly if you mention that you are in a hurry.
