A word from Da Vinci
Da Vinci Ristorante is renowned and highly recognized in Boston's stylish restaurant scene, bringing wonderful flavor and ambiance to the South End/Back Bay area since 2007.

The sophisticated interior is warm and welcoming and the staff extends that feeling to each and every patron. The recently redesigned and modernized space features a comfortable full service bar.

Chef Peppino's menu reflects a blend of modern and classic Italian cuisine from his training in Europe's Italian restaurants. It features an array of beautifully presented Antipasti and Entrees, and the chef's homemade pastas are made fresh every day as is the bread and all desserts.

Great emphasis is also placed on accommodating guests with dietary, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan restrictions to ensure that each and every guest has an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

Diner Reviews
  • "Loved this place - very convenient to our hotel so we made a last minute reservation and were were so glad we did. Their ceasar salad was amazing with the crispy coated poached egg and house made tagliatelle with mushrooms just outstanding, cooked perfectly al dente. My husband had the veal chop which was so tender, almost didn't need a knife. Many good restaurants in this area and Da Vinci doesn't dissapoint!"

  • "we were welcomed and taken to our table upon arrival. the ambiance was quiet and soothing. when we opened the menu it was "backlit" which made our decisions that much easier. we chose the spinach ravioli with shrimp and the backed haddock. both had just been added to the menu this night. they were done to perfection. i haven't been to DaVinci's in some time and was so pleased that the quality has remained steadfast."

  • "We have been to Da Vinci many times, but this week it seems they are aspiring to be among the top restaurants in Boston based on their sky high prices. $30-40 per entree, for example. The food is good, the service is good, and the ambiance is good. But nothing is exceptional and overall this restaurant does not come close to justifying its new, very high prices."

  • "Have to say the food was amazing! However the service, not so much! I understand it was resturant week! But we did not even get offered coffee with our dessert! I ordered a piece of steak, med. well! He never had me cut into it to see if the temp. was correct, which was not! He never came over to ask if we wanted salt, pepper or grated cheese. For our first impression it really left a sour feeling..."

  • "No problem with the service. We went for restaurant week and found the menu uninspring. Got the rigatoni which was not very good at all. The rice pudding for dessert was fine. It was also quite cold inside the restaurant."

  • "My date and I went there randomly during restaurant week. The food was great and tasty, no complaints. The girl at the front was nice and the waiter was willing to joke around with me (A+). The interior looks really nice and is great for a date. We went when it was full of people and there is a descent amount of background noise from people talking (which is ok because it gives the place a little life!) this isnt a place to bring your grandma during peak hours."

  • "My family and I went for the Dine Out Boston dinner menu on a Monday night. Our drinks came out in good time as we chatted over the bread basket. Each plate came out after the prior one was cleared. Water was constantly refilled. The waiters were nice and attentive. The food is good, not something that is out of this world but good. The gentleman even helped my mother and I into our coats. I would come back."

  • "Definitely go. It was just myself and my wife but it was a perfect evening; very relaxed atmosphere. Service was very good."

  • "Although the waiter was very nice we didn't receive much attention. Waited a little longer than we should have to order. We were brought the wrong dessert, mentioned it and then were charged incorrectly. I would go back but maybe not on a special occasion. Food was great!"

  • "The ambience is good and near a castle. The food is great, especially the pasta well kown in boston. Waiters are very nice."

  • "excellent choice of food. Being a vegetarian it is hard to find different kind of Italian but pasta and Salad. The Chef- Papino is very creative and made our dining experience excellent/most enjoyable and fulfilling even though it was very busy on Friday night."

  • "I really wasn't blown away by this restaurant. I was very excited for this reservation. When we walked in we were not greeted by the hostess already standing at the front, she was too wrapped up in looking at her computer screen. Not very friendly for a hostess, the first person you see coming into the restaurant. Honestly I thought the food was going to be a lot better than it was. I got the bolognese, "Boston's best", needless to say I was expecting great things. I was really underwhelmed, it was under seasoned and just boring. The waiter was attentive enough but really didn't go above and beyond. The staff was all hanging out by the bar. Someone who was working was drinking wine at the bar. The worst part is, I think it was a manager."

  • "went for winter restaurant week and had their three course prix-fix meal. Everything was delicious the ambiance was wonderful and waitstaff was terrific. Would definitely recommend Da Vinci."

  • "Some restaurants hold back during Restaurant Week, but not Da Vinci. The ambience is beautiful - welcoming and romantic. Arancini apps were crisp outside and cheese-filled inside. Rigatoni Bolognese was cooked perfectly - you could taste the sauce was made with sirloin, not ground beef. We split a chocolate souffle instead of the Restaurant Week dessert offerings - creamy and oh, so chocolately. Our dining "neighbor" had rack of lamb, which he said fell off the bone. The waiter was delightful - always near when we needed him, but never hovering. The staff anticipated our needs refilling water and bread, fresh change of silverware, etc. Can't wait to return to try that rack of lamb myself!"

  • "Maybe just don't go. The food was really good and until the end the waiter was great. All I did was ask him to pack my desert to go and he yelled at me why can't you just finish it. It was very hard for me to lose 30 lbs and what he said to me was outrageous. I think the whole restaurant heard him. That was It for me. I complained to the owner and he didn't care. I also tried to use my rewards card and he refused to take it. First he said the Computer was broken. The. He told me the truth that he won't take It because he doesn't make enough money during restaurant week. Again outrageous and he doesn't care. I will never go back"

  • "I have been walking by this restaurant for a long time but never went in. I did this past week and it was great. I do not use the term great very often but Da Vinci earned it. The food, service and wine were among the best I have had in a long time. I will not be walking by Da Vinci again, I am going back soon!"

  • "We had a lovely meal here for my Mother's milestone birthday. Everyone was super friendly and they made us feel really welcome despite the restaurant being full. As with all Boston restaurants on a Saturday night, it was loud but we soon adapted! DInner at Da Vinci was one of the highlights of our 3 day trip to Boston."

  • "Will become a regular for us while in town! Valet & Hostess were very friendly and welcoming. Ambiance was very nice. Our waiter was also friendly but was tending to the bar as well, which made our service understandably slow. We had several different staff tend to us. Seemed as though they all do an array of different tasks which didn't make for great service. Would still recommend this restaurant after all the food was amazing! Our waiter did his very best, certainly could see him being able tending to the bar and tables on a weeknight, maybe not on a busy Saturday night!"

  • "We went with 2 couples who had not been there before. They were all extremely happy and raving about their food. The veal chop which many ordered was out of this world. Everyone loved the pasta. I am glad that I suggested the restaurant. Everyone will be back soon for sure"

  • "Darius gave us a warm welcome at the door, and our meals came out quickly. Food was delicious, especially veal chop. Special complimentary moscato and warm rice pudding with chestnuts finished the meal. Lovely"

  • "Da Vinci is just a great restaurant combining intimate atmosphere with superb food and service. Unlike other restaurants, the noise level is quiet and the light up menu means no straining to see. Best dining experience we have had in years! And we dine and take out clients to a variety of restaurants in the Northeast and this is one of the best."

  • "Everything was great, from being greeted by the hostess, excellent waiter and service, the food and drinks. We'll definitely return when we're in the area again!"

  • "This was my first experience at Da Vinci and it will most likely be my last. Nice atmosphere, small to medium size room. It was loud. The staff was friendly and efficient. Our water glass was always refreshed. Nice wine list. We had mussels and crab cakes for an appetizer. With the mussels there appeared to be no seasoning because the bowl was too deep. The crab cake dish was very good. The $39 steak that I ordered was very tough and very hard to chew. It was also under seasoned. The rack of lamb was delicious. We had a chocolate souffléé that was a perfect ending to the meal. I cannot recommend Da Vinci unless you are prepared to speak up about the short comings of some of the dishes. At this time I will not be revisiting them again."

  • "Da Vinci is a go to when we aren't trying a new restaurant. The food and service are consistently of the highest quality."

  • "This place is able to customize the food according to your needs, and is able to make dishes that usually contain meat without meat in it - if you need it to be. This is especially helpful for vegetarians like us who usually have limited options."
    Dined on 2/18/2014
  • "Excellent food, great ambience. The only negative was the waiting time between courses, which in one instance approached 45 minutes, resulting in a total meal time of about 3 hours."

  • "Food was just average. Staff was average. Place was really loud. Nothing makes me want to go back."

  • "The food was phenomenal. The Indian Marsala was the perfect amount of spice and the swordfish was cooked perfectly. We've had swordfish from several Cape restaurants known for sea food, but this was the best. Our waiter had a sixth sense of our needs and came over at the perfect times to add water, check in, or clear dishes. He gave us space on our date while providing great service. We will definitely be back."

  • "This was an early Valentines dinner date night that I had made reservations for. I had never been there before but read good reviews about the restaurant. The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was prompt and very informative regarding the menu. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly."

  • "Had a great dinner at Da Vinci for my fiancé's birthday. We got the chef's tasting menu which was 5 courses. Food got an A+ for presentation, some courses were better than others (appetizer, pasta and steak were excellent, fish was okay, dessert was generic) .. But overall great tasting food and great atmosphere. Would recommend!"

  • "The guys wanted to get together in the Back Bay, so we suggested Da Vinci. We love it and always recommend it to our friends. It was new to 3 of the 4 people, and they were pleasantly surprised. Everyone enjoyed the food, and they lingered over drinks after dinner. A good evening in a comfortable environment."

  • "Although the service at this restaurant was excellent. The tables are too small and there it too much on them i.e too many glasses, plates, bread, wine glasses etc. The menus are incredible huge that I knocked over one of the many glasses on the table which I'm sure happens a lot. Other than that there is nothing I would change."

  • "Service was great....was not overly impressed with the Phantom Gourmet's filet recommendation. That was the whole reason we chose this restaurant. It was OK but I have definitely had better filets in Boston."

  • "It was one of the best Italian food I have in Boston area, Chef Pappino and the staff is very very friendly , Please do not miss the Chef Tasting menu .. Stuffed Indian Masala Raviolli and the Stuffed Tomato .. don;t miss this please.."

  • "The prix fixe four-course menu, which could be a turn-off for some, was actually surprisingly good. Fried Shrimp filled with crab meat was imaginative without being excessive. Same for gnocchi with veal. Main courses were a bit of an anti-climax after that. Our waiter was terrific! All wait-staff, in fact. We would recommend this place without hesitation. One of the best Italian meals we've had in Boston."
