The room is invitingly decorated with a lovely mural and Roman columns. Tables are comfortably spaced allowing the waiters to serve you exquisite Italian fare at very moderate prices.

Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant is a great find for the theatre lover. Very good Italian food with a great location for those who are seeing a show. This was our second trip to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The homemade spaghetti is delicious as are the entrees. Don't leave without having dessert! Worth the trip."

  • "We were seated right away, the wait staff was efficient, and the food order was prompt. Our meal was tasty, but something was unusual with the two couples on either side of us. One couple when they paid their bill their waiter brought me their receipt and credit card. The other couple had just arrived and ordered a drink and the staff was confused with how to make vodka w/water and two lime wedges on the rocks, so they got up and exited the restaurant. Seemed really weird!"

  • "Tour company recommended this restaurant and the food was delicious. We ate early because we had theatre tickets and still the restaurant was busy. Would ear there again."

  • "The food was really good and the staff was very courteous and quick after they were told we had ashow just after the dinner."

  • "Appetizers disappointing. Service spotty and slow. Main courses were exceptional. All in all, worth the visit, especially for the price fixe menus."

  • "We had a very nice prix fixe dinner here for just $32 a person. You can choose ANY item off the menu for an appetizer, entree and dessert with coffee. I had the veal scallopini and my wife had a pasta dish. My wife thought her entree was superb (Da Rosina is known for their homemade pasta) and my veal was very good. I've read some negative reviews about the service here, but our service that night was excellent. However, some people may think their service is a bit too fast. As soon as your appetizer is finished, the entree is brought to you, but we didn't really feel rushed. We knew that table turnover is paramount in the theatre district. Our tab, with a bottle of wine was $100. Excellent value!"

  • "This is a mixed review. Pros were that all of our food was very good and prices were very reasonable. Cons were that once we were served our food, wait staff virtually disappeared. My husband had to call on someone to bring us another glass of wine. Because I have been spoiled by all of the good restaurants in NYC, ambiance did not compare. Bathrooms were messy with water all over in one and paper towels flowing out of the garbage. Wouldn't go there again"

  • "We enjoyed our dinner. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was very attentive to our requests. The atmosphere was pleasant. We would eat there again."

  • "Waiters hovering, no personality, four different servers-In other words; par for the course at most pre theatre restaurants. I do have to say that the food was excellent and we were out on time for our show. Also price fixed menu was a good value."

  • "I was a little apprehensive booking this restaurant after reading some mediocre reviews and taking friends who never ate there. However, I soon found my doubts to be ill founded. We had an after theater 6:00pm reservation and when we arrived, we were immediately seated. The prix fixe menu of $32 per person was a great deal with lots of choices. The portions were ample enough and the wait time for our meals was reasonable given the crowd size. While we waited, we dined on delicious bread served cube style. The waiter was attentive and accommodating. We all found our meals to be tasty. We were able to enjoy our meals in relaxed fashion without feeling pressured to leave. In summation, we were very pleased with our dining experience."

  • "Great price fixed lunch, with lots of choices on the menu. The food was very good. The restaurant was very crowded and noisy, but we were not rushed. The waiter had some difficulty understanding a few of our requests. Would go back."

  • "The food is very good, we have been here many times before or after the theater. When crowed it's very nosey and the service is not what it is when it's fairly quiet. The think they become overwhelmed when the crowds come in. But I keep coming back because I like the food. My favorite is the Pasta Negri with tomato's & shrimp in a garlic wine sauce. I can't seem to get that anyplace else like they make it. The crowd we were with had other dishes and everyone enjoyed. So if you don't mind some noise & like good Italian food this is the place. Hope you enjoy!!! "

  • "The staff are welcoming, cheerful and know exactly how to pace the meal so you can enjoy dinner without feeling rushed. Fried zucchini is a good shared appetizer; they split the Caesar salad to two plates without any problem. Pesto gnocchi and salmon were solid main dishes. Go and enjoy it before your show!"

  • "Tight space and loud but tastie food and good service make up for it. I recommend as a solid pre or post-theather option."

  • "The pasta fagiola soup was watery. When I asked for cheese, the server seemed annoyed. I had to ask twice. When he came back with the chees he dumped an inordinate amount in the soup without asking me how much or ask me if I wanted to sprinkle the cheese. When my wife asked to have pasta as a side dish with marinara sauce in a separate dish from the chicken francias, it came with the pasta and marinara sauce mixed in with the francais sauce (very bad). The server was very abrupt and tried to rush us into ordering our meal before we had our first taste of the wine we ordered. I have heard of speed reading and speed dating, but never speed waiting (they specialize in it)"

  • "Good quality classic Italian fare, not fine dining but fulfilled our needs. Typical small restaurant row place, very crowded and noisy. But everyone enjoyed what they ordered and you can't beat the price with the Prix-fix menu. We did not know about that before arriving, a pleasant surprise. Would definitely return and recommend."

  • "We went for lunch before theatre. Food was good. Noise level high because restaurant was full. Need more wait staff, but they did get us out on time. Only saw 2 waiters running around trying to keep up. Every table was taken."

  • "i wouldn't call it a great restaurant but for a quick pre/after theatre meal it's a very decent option. good and friendly service, prix-fixe menu affordable and abundant. only problem could happen if there is a big group- then it becomes extremely noisy- we were lucky to be able to move outside."

  • "Reservations for 6pm had trouble getting into town & had to switch to dinner after the show. We were welcomed with open arms. They had a lovely table waiting & we were treated like royalty with plenty of service and attention. The food was very good Veal Picatta -light & lemony, Veal Marsala - marvelous flavor , & Veal Da Rosina was excellent. The desserts (creme brulee & chocolate mousse) were delicious, the coffee piping hot & fresh even though it was late & we were the last to leave. It was quite enjoyable having the restaurant to ourselves at the end of the night. We were never made to feel rushed. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful evening. The prices were very reasonable. Thank you for a great meal. We recommend & will return"

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Da Rosina after watching a Broadway show and it was a great experience! This restaurant has the best bread!! (we are bread fans, in moderation). But that's not even the best part. The restaurant is affordable and serves delectable food."

  • "Was in the city for a girls weekend and a show. Da Rosina was centrally located near the threatre and the food hit the spot after a long day of shopping. We actually were able to get a table before our reservation time, which gave us time to enjoy dessert. Our main dishes were excellent (hot, freshly made & large portions) and moderately priced. However, I missed the fresh cheese that is normally offered as a standard at italian restaurants. The bread was warm and delicious but the apple tart could have been made better with ice cream on the side. A missed opportunity for them was that they didn't keep the drinks flowing. No offers for refills on our wine? I would highly recommend this place if you want to grab dinner before a show."

  • "We were a group of 8. The food was acceptable (to be fair, most of the others were more pleased than I, but no raves); it was very noisy; crowded with tables too close together; service was, at best, very rushed, confused and frantic. Nice: wide selection on prix fixe. Not so nice: a few of the supplementary charges turned out to be the FULL a la carte price. Result: no bargain. P.S. Some chairs were old and very shaky. There are better choices on the same block."

  • "The Prix fix offered a wide selection of choices with something to please everyone. The dinner was excellent from appetizers through to desserts."

  • "Part of the restaurant row eateries, good basic fair, with the objective of getting you fed, and off to your show on time. The second time I've dined here, and I have to say my entree selection, a shrimp marinara over pasta and sea food appetizer were much better than what I ordered my first time here. I had the prix fix menu, which was priced on their web site at $30, but was actually $32. My dining partner ordered ala carte. Da Rosina is good basic fare; don't expect the culinary experience of a lifetime, just a decent basic meal."

  • "I get it that theatre district restaurants want to get patrons to their shows on time, but Da Rosina would do itself and diners a favor by accepting fewer reservations and paying greater attention to food and service. Salads and antipasti had been prepared hours (days?) earlier. Tables were way too close for comfort or ease of waiter passage. The entrees weren't bad, but they weren't anything you'd go out of your way for."

  • "We went on Friday during lent so meat was not an option. But they had plenty of other options including fish. We had 7:00 reservations for six and we got there at 5:45 and they immediately and happily sat us down. Our waiter was very attentive and our food was served promptly and was delicious. Our family had a great time and would definitely go back."

  • "The food was good and we were seated timely at our reservation time- the waiter was somewhat distracted and in the middle of taking our order, left us and went to finish the table next to us- Anyhow, I felt that I needed to constantly look for him regarding where was our dinner, our dessert and finally our bill as we were rushing to get out by 7 50 pm for an 8 pm show- we arrived at 6 pm for 6 15 pm reservations. I would try it again though-"

  • "We didn't have to wait long for our table, we did have a reservation for 6pm dinner for 2. The food was good. Service was quick. Nice restaurant, but very tight and crowded, our table was inches away from another. So, it's a great restaurant for a quick dinner, traditional Italian favorites."
