Diner Reviews
  • "This was, by far, the best meal and service I have had in Little Italy, Baltimore. Great Job!! Food was excellent, service was better yet."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "We had a great time. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was truly top notch, it's a beautiful place and extremely authentic. The pricing is not for the faint of heart however. For a lunch with 4 people, it was just under $ 300 with the tip. The service was also very good. We were happy to go and experience a meal there while on vacation. I should also note that they purposefully seated people as far away from each other as possible so that you could enjoy the meal with your group rather than stacking folks in so it's easy on the servers. This place is as much about the experience you have as the food."

  • "We love this restaurant. Every time we are in Baltimore, we must come here at least once this time we brought 6 friends and every meal was excellent. The veal chop and the crab cocktail presentation are the best!!"

  • "Wonderful dining experiences! Great food, service and a very nice wine selection."

  • "Everything was ridiculously overpriced due to minuscule portions. $1.25 per slice of garlic bread. Really? $9.00 for vodka on the rocks that was actually "under" the rocks. Food was bland."

  • "Very good food. Ridiculous cost. With tip nearly $100 per person.... With no bottle if wine."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "Best service in any restaurant in the country !! And amazing food. Must try if near Baltimore "

  • "I took my wife to Da Mimmo for Mothers Day. It was our third time at the restaurant and each dining experience has been outstanding. The atmosphere, service and food are top notch and I would recommend it to anyone who asks...definitely a Charm City gem!!!!!"
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I dined on the largest veal chop I have ever had in my life! The food preparation was excellent as was the service. An added feature was they were having a murder mystery night and the costumes were of the mob era."
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "They picked us up and returned us to our hotel! If that was not enough the Manager, waiter and even the server were very engaging and attentive to every detail. And let's not forget the food. All three in our party had an unbelievable meal from the cocktails and wine selections to each menu course. When we head back to 'Little Italy' this is the one place we sure sure to go to. "

  • "Every time I go to Da Mimmos, I expect to see Frank Sinatra walk in. This classic timeless Italian restaurant never fails to impress with amazing food, service and ambience. Start with a martini at the classic bar with Anastasia and take time to relax before getting your table. I don;t think I have every ordered from the menu as the best veal chops and their special lobster tetrazzini are our got dishes. This is THE classic Baltimore Little Italy restaurant for that special occasion."

  • "DaMimmo's has never disappointed my wife and I. The service is fantastic and the food the best Italian that one can find. We've always enjoyed our visits to this wonderful restaurant."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Find out if you will be having a large table seated near you. The atmosphere was nice until a large, loud group was seated next to our table. We had to raise our voices just to hear each other speak. Our nice, quiet dinner was over very quickly. When we arrived the "hostess" was more in tune to a box of chocolates then addressing and welcoming us to the restaurant. Finally the chef had to step in for us to be seated. We over heard the servers discussing how much they thought their tips would be for certain tables ( they thought our table would only give $5.00!) Great food but retraining for quality customer service is justly needed. "

  • "The food is, for the most part, excellent and the service is pleasant and efficient. But, the most attractive feature of a Da Mimmo dining experience is the warm and comfortablle atmosphere. The only negative is the wine pricing - no wine on their list less than $43 (except one blush at $39) and "house wines" ar $12 per glass. With so much inexpensive but very good wines avaialable today, they should be able to do better than that for their customers. NOTE: Only reason I didn't give service an "outstanding" was because he did not tell me price of the by-the-glass house wine when I said wine list was too expensive. I ended up spending more for the house wine than if I had ordered a bottle off of the list."

  • "Although it is pricey, but you know that before you walk in, DaMimmo's is a wonderful restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff was exceptional. This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in Little Italy."

  • "This neighborhood Italian steakhouse does not want for customers. Crowded when we arrived early for a 7:30 reservation. At 7:45 I checked in with hostess and was told they were ready for us, but no one every came to get us. Given the wine list when we were seated, but no menus. No bread, nothing for around 15 minutes. My partner ordered a filet medium rare, when it came out medium well we sent it back. Next version came out rare. Waiter was on his heels all evening. Took forever to get round of cocktails -- to be fair we were seated upstairs and waitstaff has to traverse stairs. Food was enjoyable (other than the done-ness of the filet the steak itself was excellent), my veal chop was immense. Don't go unless you have hours to kill."

  • "This is a nice place to go for special days. I went with my boyfriend and we both liked it."

  • "We last patronized this restaurant six years ago, regularly, and were amazed at the quality of food, service, and romantic surroundings. Our visit recently met none of those qualities. Salmon was overdone--dry almost, although the sauce was very tasty. Veal was just ok--waiter did not even offer to provide cheese. Felt as if we were being given the "bums rush" as we visited early for dinner,(5:30 pm) and were going to the Lyric 8:00 pm performance. We were asked if we were ordering off the special menu for restaurant week, and when we advised we were not, it seemed we were making life difficult for our waiter.-- He did provide a pudding as apoloygy for dry fish, but never offered to take it back, when we complained (which is a rarity)"

  • "Da Mimmo's is a Baltimore institution, and well-deserved. The atomosphere, ambience, and service are first-rate. The wait staff is well-trained; knowledgeable, unobtrusive, but always there when you need them. And well dressed. They are expensive - most regular menu items are $30 and up. The wine list starts around $40 and goes up exponentially from there. There are no listed "by the glass" options, but if you ask they will offer two choices, red or white, at ~$12. They do list half bottles at $24 and up, but that's basically two glasses. The food was very good (Veal Chop, Norwegian Salmon), but not better than other good Little Italy restaurants. Figure on about $100 per person with wine and tip for an average dinner."

  • "My husband and I used to frequent Da Mimmo's when we lived in the area 10 years ago. The décor looks unchanged from 10 years ago (which was already looking pretty dated at that time). The food was quite good but doesn't seem worth the price now that the service has gone downhill. The pace of our meal was not rushed but we felt neglected. They seated us right next to the only other two couples in the restaurant at the time which made intimate conversation difficult because you could hear everything the neighboring couple said. The food is still good but I don't think it warrants the premium pricing anymore. I think the restaurant needs a facelift and some more attentive servers. To his credit, the greeter at the door was very welcoming."

  • "The food was good, the service excellent and the atmosphere very cozy and welcoming. However, the wines are way overpriced. The wine that we had for dinner retails for $18 and costs at Da Mimmo $79, a 400% markup over retail (the restaurant certainly buys wines at wholesale prices)."

  • "Went to DaMimmo's during restaurant week. I would not recommend going during restaurant week. This is a pricey restaurant and we expected excellent service but the service was lacking. The food was good but not outstanding. We ordered off the regular menu and restaurant week menu and the food we ordered off the regular menu was not hot."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Dined on Saturday of restaurant week. Had a 7:30 reservation, arrived at 7:00, were seated at 8:40. Very understaffed considering the busy night. They should know better. Food was average. Wine VERY expensive."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "We went during restaurant week. The portions for appetizers were very small. Sausage and peppers 1/4 sausage, Clams casino was like mush very disappointed. I have never heard of an Italian Restaurant that didn't give you bread and butter during your wait, however the waiter did ask if we wanted to "order" Garlic bread which we did and it was 2 miniature pieces but they were good. The main course which was their specialty lamb chop was very good ...that was the best part. The Veil Marsala was also very good. You do not get any spaghetti or anything with the main course just the meat and a few pieces of broccoli did come with the lamb chop which was good... Overall, It is too overpriced for the quality and portion sizes. Will never go back."

  • "We went there for restaurant week...and while we were expecting a "limited" menu, we didn't expect it to be as "limited' as it was. Plus, the portion sizes were extremely small. Not worth the $30 r-week special AT ALL. Perhaps the regular entrees would be better, but we did not try them. While the r-week deal didn't live up to expectations, the food was very good...along with the service."

  • "I have been here three times before but it has been awhile. After eating ther this week I wonder why I ever go anywhere else! The meal was awesome! I had the vel chop and it was delicious. The chop salad was very flavorful. My friend had the veal Marsala and it was also very good and tender. However the veal chop is worth the trip. I will definitely go back for my birthday next month. On another note you have to order the crab cocktail. It is served so creatively with a live beta fish in the plate! Please go and try this neighborhood gem!"

  • "The seafood soup special was fantastic, but the wine list by the bottle was expensive ($58+) definitely not for the frequent italian food craving."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We visited during Baltimore Restaurant Week. The set menu was limited but very good. The main restaurant is tiny and very attractive, with original artwork on the walls by Tony Bennett. Yes, that Tony Bennett. It is expensive but you get good value. Other reviewers have complained about a waiter being brusque and rude. Our response - treat him with respect and he treats you with respect. He's very efficient and hardworking and perfectly friendly if you are friendly too."

  • "We went here for Valentines Day. All the food we got was delicious (Filet mignon, caprese, mussels, veal saltimbocca). The only complaint was that we had reservations for 8pm, and didn't get seated until 8:35. I assume it was just because of valentines day, but didn't appreciate the overbooking. I will likely go back, just not when I expect them to be busy."

  • "At least for all the times I've been there. One of the best of Baltimore's numerous Italian restaurants in our Little Italy. I had the veal chop - a specialty of the house - and it did not disappoint. Huge portions; cooked just right - a wonderful dish for those with a real hunger for young beef. My wife had the sword fish and was likewise suitably impressed (good thing too since this was our Valentine's dinner ;-) ). Topped off with a nice Chianti, and we were good to go. Although admittedly we skipped their desserts and headed to Vaccaro's [no one can beat Vaccaro's for their bakery sweets] just down the street. It made for a wonder respite from the nasty winter we've been experiencing."

  • "This was Valentine's Day, so the normal menu was not available. Nonetheless, there was a wide variety of good food options on the special menu. Service was very strong despite the fact that the restaurant was full due to Valentine's Day. Have never gone wrong her here for for fine Italian food."

  • "First, before one even gets into the door one of the prime reasons I keep returning to Da Mimmo's - free use parking & courtesy limo. The starter - green apple salad (definitely recommend) and cubed lobster special over linguini as an entree. Our server Cory was superb with the only minor tweak would be to remind us about the time since he mentioned we had to be at the theater on 8PM on our way to the table. Not really a big deal - but I am a dessert fan and I missed out on the opportunity to try one of Da Mimmo's desserts due to letting the time get away from us and having to rush out and have the courtesy limo take us to the Hippodrome. A special shoutout to Elizabeth who got us safely to and from the Hippodrome."

  • "Our party of seven dined at Da Mimmo's on a recent Sunday evening. It was a slow night...so the server was very attentive. The menu was complemented by a number of specials for the evening...one being Osso Buco which was outstanding! My friend had a veal chop that was the largest I've ever seen served (very tasty he said too). Appetizers were great...side salads were fresh. Desserts were delicious. While we waited for our cab, we went into the bar area to view the many pictures of celebrities on the wall, and the owners chatted us up and poured us all a complimentary homemade Lemoncello! All in all...a very nice dining experience. Felt like Sunday supper with the family!"
