  • "The food is, for the most part, excellent and the service is pleasant and efficient. But, the most attractive feature of a Da Mimmo dining experience is the warm and comfortablle atmosphere. The only negative is the wine pricing - no wine on their list less than $43 (except one blush at $39) and "house wines" ar $12 per glass. With so much inexpensive but very good wines avaialable today, they should be able to do better than that for their customers. NOTE: Only reason I didn't give service an "outstanding" was because he did not tell me price of the by-the-glass house wine when I said wine list was too expensive. I ended up spending more for the house wine than if I had ordered a bottle off of the list."

  • "Although it is pricey, but you know that before you walk in, DaMimmo's is a wonderful restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff was exceptional. This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in Little Italy."

  • "This neighborhood Italian steakhouse does not want for customers. Crowded when we arrived early for a 7:30 reservation. At 7:45 I checked in with hostess and was told they were ready for us, but no one every came to get us. Given the wine list when we were seated, but no menus. No bread, nothing for around 15 minutes. My partner ordered a filet medium rare, when it came out medium well we sent it back. Next version came out rare. Waiter was on his heels all evening. Took forever to get round of cocktails -- to be fair we were seated upstairs and waitstaff has to traverse stairs. Food was enjoyable (other than the done-ness of the filet the steak itself was excellent), my veal chop was immense. Don't go unless you have hours to kill."

  • "We last patronized this restaurant six years ago, regularly, and were amazed at the quality of food, service, and romantic surroundings. Our visit recently met none of those qualities. Salmon was overdone--dry almost, although the sauce was very tasty. Veal was just ok--waiter did not even offer to provide cheese. Felt as if we were being given the "bums rush" as we visited early for dinner,(5:30 pm) and were going to the Lyric 8:00 pm performance. We were asked if we were ordering off the special menu for restaurant week, and when we advised we were not, it seemed we were making life difficult for our waiter.-- He did provide a pudding as apoloygy for dry fish, but never offered to take it back, when we complained (which is a rarity)"

  • "Da Mimmo's is a Baltimore institution, and well-deserved. The atomosphere, ambience, and service are first-rate. The wait staff is well-trained; knowledgeable, unobtrusive, but always there when you need them. And well dressed. They are expensive - most regular menu items are $30 and up. The wine list starts around $40 and goes up exponentially from there. There are no listed "by the glass" options, but if you ask they will offer two choices, red or white, at ~$12. They do list half bottles at $24 and up, but that's basically two glasses. The food was very good (Veal Chop, Norwegian Salmon), but not better than other good Little Italy restaurants. Figure on about $100 per person with wine and tip for an average dinner."

  • "My husband and I used to frequent Da Mimmo's when we lived in the area 10 years ago. The décor looks unchanged from 10 years ago (which was already looking pretty dated at that time). The food was quite good but doesn't seem worth the price now that the service has gone downhill. The pace of our meal was not rushed but we felt neglected. They seated us right next to the only other two couples in the restaurant at the time which made intimate conversation difficult because you could hear everything the neighboring couple said. The food is still good but I don't think it warrants the premium pricing anymore. I think the restaurant needs a facelift and some more attentive servers. To his credit, the greeter at the door was very welcoming."

  • "The food was good, the service excellent and the atmosphere very cozy and welcoming. However, the wines are way overpriced. The wine that we had for dinner retails for $18 and costs at Da Mimmo $79, a 400% markup over retail (the restaurant certainly buys wines at wholesale prices)."

  • "Went to DaMimmo's during restaurant week. I would not recommend going during restaurant week. This is a pricey restaurant and we expected excellent service but the service was lacking. The food was good but not outstanding. We ordered off the regular menu and restaurant week menu and the food we ordered off the regular menu was not hot."

  • "Dined on Saturday of restaurant week. Had a 7:30 reservation, arrived at 7:00, were seated at 8:40. Very understaffed considering the busy night. They should know better. Food was average. Wine VERY expensive."

  • "We went during restaurant week. The portions for appetizers were very small. Sausage and peppers 1/4 sausage, Clams casino was like mush very disappointed. I have never heard of an Italian Restaurant that didn't give you bread and butter during your wait, however the waiter did ask if we wanted to "order" Garlic bread which we did and it was 2 miniature pieces but they were good. The main course which was their specialty lamb chop was very good ...that was the best part. The Veil Marsala was also very good. You do not get any spaghetti or anything with the main course just the meat and a few pieces of broccoli did come with the lamb chop which was good... Overall, It is too overpriced for the quality and portion sizes. Will never go back."

  • "We went there for restaurant week...and while we were expecting a "limited" menu, we didn't expect it to be as "limited' as it was. Plus, the portion sizes were extremely small. Not worth the $30 r-week special AT ALL. Perhaps the regular entrees would be better, but we did not try them. While the r-week deal didn't live up to expectations, the food was very good...along with the service."

  • "I have been here three times before but it has been awhile. After eating ther this week I wonder why I ever go anywhere else! The meal was awesome! I had the vel chop and it was delicious. The chop salad was very flavorful. My friend had the veal Marsala and it was also very good and tender. However the veal chop is worth the trip. I will definitely go back for my birthday next month. On another note you have to order the crab cocktail. It is served so creatively with a live beta fish in the plate! Please go and try this neighborhood gem!"

  • "The seafood soup special was fantastic, but the wine list by the bottle was expensive ($58+) definitely not for the frequent italian food craving."

  • "We visited during Baltimore Restaurant Week. The set menu was limited but very good. The main restaurant is tiny and very attractive, with original artwork on the walls by Tony Bennett. Yes, that Tony Bennett. It is expensive but you get good value. Other reviewers have complained about a waiter being brusque and rude. Our response - treat him with respect and he treats you with respect. He's very efficient and hardworking and perfectly friendly if you are friendly too."

  • "We went here for Valentines Day. All the food we got was delicious (Filet mignon, caprese, mussels, veal saltimbocca). The only complaint was that we had reservations for 8pm, and didn't get seated until 8:35. I assume it was just because of valentines day, but didn't appreciate the overbooking. I will likely go back, just not when I expect them to be busy."

  • "At least for all the times I've been there. One of the best of Baltimore's numerous Italian restaurants in our Little Italy. I had the veal chop - a specialty of the house - and it did not disappoint. Huge portions; cooked just right - a wonderful dish for those with a real hunger for young beef. My wife had the sword fish and was likewise suitably impressed (good thing too since this was our Valentine's dinner ;-) ). Topped off with a nice Chianti, and we were good to go. Although admittedly we skipped their desserts and headed to Vaccaro's [no one can beat Vaccaro's for their bakery sweets] just down the street. It made for a wonder respite from the nasty winter we've been experiencing."

  • "This was Valentine's Day, so the normal menu was not available. Nonetheless, there was a wide variety of good food options on the special menu. Service was very strong despite the fact that the restaurant was full due to Valentine's Day. Have never gone wrong her here for for fine Italian food."

  • "First, before one even gets into the door one of the prime reasons I keep returning to Da Mimmo's - free use parking & courtesy limo. The starter - green apple salad (definitely recommend) and cubed lobster special over linguini as an entree. Our server Cory was superb with the only minor tweak would be to remind us about the time since he mentioned we had to be at the theater on 8PM on our way to the table. Not really a big deal - but I am a dessert fan and I missed out on the opportunity to try one of Da Mimmo's desserts due to letting the time get away from us and having to rush out and have the courtesy limo take us to the Hippodrome. A special shoutout to Elizabeth who got us safely to and from the Hippodrome."

  • "Our party of seven dined at Da Mimmo's on a recent Sunday evening. It was a slow night...so the server was very attentive. The menu was complemented by a number of specials for the evening...one being Osso Buco which was outstanding! My friend had a veal chop that was the largest I've ever seen served (very tasty he said too). Appetizers were great...side salads were fresh. Desserts were delicious. While we waited for our cab, we went into the bar area to view the many pictures of celebrities on the wall, and the owners chatted us up and poured us all a complimentary homemade Lemoncello! All in all...a very nice dining experience. Felt like Sunday supper with the family!"

  • "We went on a recommendation from a friend who actually lives in Chicago but dines at DaMimmo's when in town. We had read mixed reviews on line so wasn't sure what to expect. What we got was great service and a great dinner. They have a private parking lot which made parking very easy. We picked our appetizers, salads and main courses from the specials our waiter told us about. We have zero complaints as everything was beyond exceptional. It was a great meal. We somehow found room for dessert since we did read a review about how good the desserts are. Once again, we were very pleased. It was very expensive but we thought it was worth it. It was a great night out. If money is an issue, I would advise ordering off the regular menu."

  • "We visit Baltimore once a year and always plan an evening at Da Mimmos. This is probably one of the best dining experiences I have ever had and so enjoy the thoughtful attention to detail and quality of the total dining experience. The services is without equal with lots of attention from the very professional staff as well as Executive Chef Masood. Da Mimmo's is much more than just a great meal, it is a true culinary experience offering insight into the food and wines of Italy few other establishments ever offer. Their bar is also very enjoyable and if you go on a night when their pianist is playing, he knows practically every song ever written. Such a wonderful way to spend a long evening."

  • "was glad to find available time for NYE. great parking available and lounge was unique, good feel. had requested on my reservation to be advised if special menu or price fixe for NYE and did not hear back. my bad to assume but they had limited menu and also price fixe. all prices were increased considerably from online menu and waiter was professional but slick on pushes to expensive items, especially wine. between specials, price fixe and limited menu even our waiter got it wrong and had to come back and advise one of the items we had ordered wasn't available ala-carte but only in price fixe format. really? at $48 for the entrée they couldn't make it? in all, a good meal but not a good value based on area competition."

  • "The food was good and the service was very good. What would prevent me from recommending this restaurant is that I thought the cost of the meal was over priced. It was a very expensive dinner, and I do not object to paying for a good meal. But I thought the price point of the meal was above what we received. The reputation of the restaurant is well known. It is obvious the restaurant is well-loved, as it was packed. It was Christmas Eve, so maybe my mistake was trying the restaurant on such a busy night. I might have had a different experience on another evening. But I'm not inclined to give it a second try."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "Absolutely NO reason to go to this restaurant unless you like a very long wait, like over an hour between your appetizer and entree and very mediocre food. The waiter was obviously uncomfortable with the long wait we endured for our meal and so, to appease us, at the conclusion....brought 1 cannoli to be shared by four. Really an insult!!! At the very least, there should have been an apology and maybe even an after dinner drink...but 1 cannoli with 4 forks was it...Just further evidence of a restaurant that really does not know what it is doing. Avoid it!!!"

  • "Always the best veal chop in America!!! fantastic home made pata and the calamari is ssensational.....have been frequenting for 25 years..moved to Boston and had a chance to revisit, brought back great memories and the food/service is still out of this world!"

  • "Headed into the city for dinner with hubby, my sister, and her hubby. We went all out, with appetizers, dinner entrees, and desserts. The portions were insane and delicious. Our waiter was very concerned that we had a good dining experience. It was a magical evening. It was pricey but totally worth it for a special dinner in the city."
    Dined on 10/26/2013
  • "Unfortunately our entire experience was ruined by our waiter! He was rude, condescending, arrogant, do I need to go on? The atmosphere and our meal was excellent but not enough to excuse his behavior. I read several reviews prior to making our reservation and wondered how a bad waiter could spoil an excellent dinner, and I learned first hand. When I complained to the management, the response was I wish you would have told me earlier, he is a good waiter but that is how he acts!"

  • "Expensive but worth it. Our experience was wonderful. Delicious food and great service from our outstanding waiter...Michael. Can't wait to return. Loved the convenience of parking in Da Mimmo's lot."

  • "It is no wonder Little Italy places are closing left and right. I returned to Da Mimmo after a few year hiatus and the only thing that has changed are the prices (they went up from their already too high levels!) Same nightly specials and the same bad attitude from the staff (except the barmaid...she was very pleasant but she was very young). If you want a Baltimore institution, try it. If you want good creative food and value, go to Aldo's. Da Miimmo's just isn't worth a $200/head tab."
    Dined on 10/21/2013
  • "I never write reviews, but feel I should warn others about our experience. Our waiter was probably the worst waiter I have ever had in my life, we were actually afraid of him. I am not sure if the other waiters were more pleasant, but no matter how good the food was it could not be enjoyed. 3 of us ordered specials and were afraid to ask the price, but assumed that since the other fish entrees listed on the menu were in the high low $30 range..that the specials would be similar. We were surprised that swordfish and seabass were both priced at $48 each. I have no problem paying for great food with great service in a great atmosphere, but we had ok food, with terrible service in a tacky place that would be better suited for a fortune teller."

  • "Our family went to Da Mimmo to celebrate a work promotion. We got great service and the food was excellent. We'll definitely go back."

  • "Da Mimmo's seems to just get better and better. We were a party of 4 and everyone could not praise the food enough, and the service was fantastic. On top of the restaurant consistently being amazing they have their own private parking lot, making it the perfect spot in Little Italy (or Baltimore on a whole) for a Saturday Night dinner."
