She was very attentive and accommodating to our needs; even taking the time to explain things, as this was our first time. Our waiter and the other staff were equally as accommodating and pleasant. The food exceeded our expectations.... Presentation was beautiful, the taste was excellent, and we were completely satisfied with the portions. Few achieve it. But these are worth writing home about.
I'm not kiddibg about the crunch. It was noteworthy right from the first bite. Not hard; not soft. Just -- well --- perfection. And crunchy even after being buried in delicious, delicious tomato sauce.
I don't believe I've ever had anything quite as good in this category of food -- which is to say, fried rings of something.
It was worth the trip for the calamari alone, but the rest of our meal was good as well.
Try the steak with matchstick truffled potatoes on top. Brilliant.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsThe one thing that I can say about da Maurizio is that it is consistent. I expect excellent food, and it consistently delivers.
I am now spoiled to eat calamari anywhere else! Very good value on menu with lots of variety. I think people assume it is expensive given its fine reputation, but it is very competitive with any other fine dining.
I have already told many people how great our evening was as we celebrated our anniversary. And when we were leaving we thought, we really should come here more often.

Food was excellent, service was outstanding and the ambience was good. The restaurant was rather noisy from the mechanical systems so it detracted from the quiet atmosphere a restaurant like this should have. With a bit of thought the ambience could be elevated to outstanding at very reasonable expense. As a side note, the prices were surprisingly similar to what they were on our first date - that was impressive. It has a very nice feel. The staff are friendly (but not excessively so) and knowledgable about the menu. The wine list is fairly priced and interesting. There are not a lot of choices within each region or style, but the wines on the list reflect a keen eye for quality and are good examples of their type - neophytes will not go far wrong, and oenophiles will find many good choices. On top of that the food is truly world class. Great use is made of local ingredients and the dishes are prepared with the subtlety and appreciation of freshness that is characteristic of the best Italian cooking. We were there for the evening and the waiter seemed just a bit irritated with us - but was still very accomodating and professional.
