  • "We (2 couples) selected Da Marino because it was next door to the theater we were going to and had good reviews. The menu was fairly limited but everything came out together and was quite good. Service was friendly and efficient and could not have been better and was perfect for show timing. The decor is fun and warm. Overall a very nice and repeatable experience."

  • "Convenient to the theater, this was an excellent dinner choice!! We came after a matinee, but noticed that the thoughtful staff were asking if people needed to be out in time for a show. The staff was beyond helpful and the food was divine. Will definitely be going back!"

  • "Our food and service were great. Can get a little crowded but we got plenty of attention and were taken care of quickly. We talked to the two tables next to us and both loved their food. Would recommend."

  • "Our first visit to Da Marino will not be our last. Service was impeccable and the food was great. My Caesar's salad had the best dressing that I have ever tasted. Rafaele was wonderful - he even invited us back for the Italian band later that evening but we had to pass on the offer because of other plans. This restaurant is very convenient to the Theater District and in my opinion they offer better food and service to some of the restaurants on Restaurant Row!"

  • "The house salad was good, as was the calamari. I also enjoyed the pasta in a vodka cream sauce with asparagus. I didn't care for the ambiance -- too crowded and noisy. My friend suggested it. E cause she had been there recently or lunch, but I don't plan to return there."

  • "Touristy and expensive, as can be expected by location. Food was better than we thought it would be. The bathroom is must see!"

  • "We were personally greeted by the maitre'd and waiter. Seated immediately, asked if we were going to the theater so our dinner could be paced accordingly. Food, wine, service, EXCELLENT...more than we expect from a theater district restaurant. We were not rushed and made our curtain in plenty of time. We even spotted a celebrity or two!! Highly recommend it....We will return for sure. And don't miss the ladies' room..it's worth seeing."

  • "Had a tremendous evening with my wife in December. So memorable that I took a small business group from the US and overseas in March. Perfect seating position for business discussion plus relaxation and relationship development. Excellent."

  • "Arrived at 6:00 pm for 6:00 pm reservation. Checked in. Told it might be 10 minutes. Explained we had theater at 8:00. "No problem." Checked in again at 6:15 pm. "Just give me a minute and you will have a table." Checked finally at 6:30 pm and was told by exasperated host "What do you want me to do??!" What I want you to do is have a table at the time of my reservation, or a reasonable time thereafter. Or, at the very least, suggest that we have a seat and wait at the bar while we enjoy a drink on the house. We live, part time, just around the corner from DaMarino and have gone there often for years. We have sent countless friends there. We considered it our neighborhood "go to". No more."

  • "This is a perfect example showing that good rated restaurant in tripadvisor does not mean that it is really a good restaurant. The food is more a cantine food , but not the price. There are much better italian restaurant if you go few block away from time square and much cheaper."

  • "The atmosphere was very pleasant with a piano player that was very good. Had an appetizer that was very delish along with plain old pasta and meatballs that I thought was terrific. A bit pricey but overall a wonderful night out"

  • "Right away we noticed the ambiance and charm of this small family owned restaurant. The lighting was perfect and the murals on the walls reminded us of our recent trip to Italy. The service was genuinely warm and friendly. We ordered the special appetizer of meats and tomatoes as well as fresh creamy mozzarella and provolone cheese. Everything was very fresh and authentically Italian. Everything brought back fond memories of Italy, the phenomenal food, welcoming staff and hospitality of the manager. We felt lucky to have just happened on this restaurant looking for somewhere to go before a show, and we will be going again and making sure to bring our family too!"

  • "The food was excellent as it was the last time I ate here. The energy in the restaurant was very nice. The waiter disappeared for about 14 minutes which seemed like much longer since we were ready to order. The food was on time though and was exactly what we expected across the board. A pleasant experience and the waiter apologized towards the end."

  • "The pics on line didn't do it justice. A lot of atmosphere. Drinks and food were great. Service too. Would go again"

  • "The first time I dined here it was very energetic but tolerable. But this time the open mic and the untalented people using it made having any kind of a conversation, even with the person sitting shoulder to shoulder with you, IMPOSSIBLE. On top of that, the place was extremely overheated. We changed tables but that didn't help. The waitstaff were very nice and accommodating and the food was delicious -- they even gave us their wonderful signature cheesecake, on the house. But the experience as a whole was not enjoyable, to say the least. I would not go back there. Nor would I recommend it to local or visiting friends."

  • "I read the reviews before choosing this restaurant so I was expecting a much better experience. Very noisy- not a place for conversation Tables too close together for comfort and the food just ordinary. Lots of choices in this area. Unfortunately we won't be going back to this one."

  • "Food was excellent as was the service. Entertainment was a piano player and singing by ownership/management as well as some willing customers. it was fun, but not overbearing."

  • "OK...it was a Saturday pre show situation. We got there at 6:30 for a 6:30 reservation and could barely get in the door Fought our way to the front of the line and felt fortunate to get a table. Service wasn't bad for the situation, but the stress levels rose as we got closer to curtain time. When we got the bill it was correct, but when the credit card receipt came back we were charged DOUBLE. It was corrected with an apology but.....the time it took to straighten out made us almost miss the opening curtain. On the positive side: the food was good, the wait staff was pleasant...."

  • "We always go there on special occasions and before the theatre. The menu satisfies every taste. Every single employee makes you feel like family, stopping by the tables and seeing how things are going. And then there's the piano music. Playing old to new types of musical taste. Highly recomended."

  • "From the moment we walked into the charming & lively ambiance we were welcomed like royalty. There was a piano player & soft lighting & friendly staff -even the customers seemed happy to be there. It was my daughters birthday & all I had to do was mention it & the following ensued at the end of our meal: they brought over cake with a candle & the piano player sang happy birthday along with the entire restaurant then the singer came over with a microphone & serenaded her.. She said it was her best birthday ever. The food was delicious & as we had theatre tickets they were conscientious of the time so we could make our play. The staff were friendly & entertaining. Dining there was an absolute treat!"

  • "This is an unusual experience. The food is really expensive, but it is large family style portions. This is a loud and crazy scene, with waiters and piano player singing and even dancing. Quite entertaining. Not easy to have a conversation but certainly fun for am hour or so."

  • "My wife and I had a 6:30pm reservation for dinner before an 8pm show. We were seated right away. We were in a small dark separate room which was romantic. Active bar scene and excellent piano player gives a fun vibe. We had the house chianti which we enjoyed. We also split the calamari appetizer and chose the spicy sauce, it had a light batter and was delicious. My wife had a penne dish with shrimp and asparagus which she enjoyed. I had rigatoni and meatballs, and the waiter suggested I try with angel hair in the place of the rigatoni to hold the sauce better. Good call, it was delicious. We made it to Phantom with plenty of time to spare. Highly recommended."

  • "Unfortunately, due to traffic from NJ, I was very late for my dinner plans but the restaurant was understanding and worked with us on getting us fed and on to our play. When I called the restaurant to tell them I was stuck in traffic, they immediately greeted me by name. When I finally did show up at the restaurant, I was once again greeted by name with, you finally made it. I asked how they knew my name and they said they matched the voice to my face. I have to admit, I felt very special! There was a table waiting for us and they promised we would be out in time for our show including enough time to walk there, which was less than hour from when we entered. The food was excellent, service was great! I will definitely return."

  • "We visited Da Marino for lunch on a Sunday afternoon before attending the theater. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals which consisted of an appetizer which we split and two pasta dishes. The food was very good and we were able to make it to our show with time to spare.."

  • "2nd time to Da Marino and was as good as the first. Slow start to get my husbands beer out, the younger guy who brought our drinks couldn't remember what my husband wanted. Come to find out they were out of his whiskey. Asked for a simple Perroni beer and he had no clue what that was. Considering it is an Italian restaurant we found that rather odd. Still no beer so we had to flag down the waiters. Once one of the main guys took over our table, service greatly improved, back to what we remembered about this place. Food was excellent! Love this place, and can't wait to come back! I had the agnolotti which was amazing and my husband had bolognese."
