You'll get the best pizza and pasta dishes in the city at Marco Wiles' intimate and unassuming little Montrose restaurant. Some of the unusual varieties of fish, such as the branzino (Italian sea bass) are jet-flown in from Italy. The wine list is just as innovative as the food, with lots of crisp Proseccos and unusual Piedmont reds. And the service is exceptional -- unless you ask for spaghetti and meatballs.

Unassuming from the exterior but a world away inside. The menu is atypical with food choices that are not usual for Italian fare. The dining experience is top notch. Each guest was treated as if they were royalty. The food, from the appetizer to main course, was exceptional. Out of four diners in our party, not a single negative was heard. It will be a pleasure to dine at DaMarco's in the future.

My wife and I went to Da Marco for lunch on Valentine's Day, 2012, to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. The service and food were exceptional, as we expected, and the choice of lunch was a good call....it was pretty full but not packed...we were seated essentially immediatley upon arrival (we had reservations).
This is about as good as it gets in Houston, which I think is farily high praise. The food comes to the table "PERFECT"....whatever the parameter...temperature, presentation...the rooms are supremely friendly....the service great and helpful. It made for a perfect (for us) celebration...intimate and warm....I could only start repeating myself now.

Attended their Valentine's Day event - the atmosphere was cozy, but plenty quiet enough for conversation, particularly considering the wood flooring. Service was impeccable; food was delicious.
Pricy joint, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for - and here, the specialty is service and ambience.

I took my girlfriend for valentine's day. Everything was done to perfection. The service was impeccable. I absent-mindedly asked for my veal "medium rare to medium" and, lo and behold, it was brought to me with one part medium rare, the other medium. Pricey, for a special occassion, but a special restaurant.

For my appetizer I had a pheasant terrine with a salad of some type of lettuce with ruffled red edges and dried apricots. My main course was a Fluke fish with romanesco broccoli and pine nuts. The main dishes were not bad but did not impress me. I would say the sides were my favorite parts of the dishes. The waiter was courteous but forgot to give us our dinner we asked to be boxed up.

After all these years, the food and service still live up to the hype. Not the prettiest Houston dining room, but reminds me of many places in NY built into townhouses - cozy. Can't beat a 3 course lunch for two with wine and coffee for only $100, executed at this level.

If you like Italian, authentic Italian and thus not the run-of-the-mill American-Italian, this is your place in Houston. Similar to their other two joints, Poscol (salumeria) and Dolce Vita (pizzeria) it is all about bringing an actual italian (food, wine, and ambience) to the US. If you're looking for room, cream-sauces, or deep-pan pizzas, this is NOT your choice.

Perhaps I had higher expectations for this restaurant because I've heard good things about them, but our experience wasn't as good as I had wished for. The appetizers were very good, but the entrees we ordered were just okay. I would go back again and just try the pasta dishes next time instead of the fish and calf liver we ordered. The service was very good and professional, but we thought there were just too many people standing around and kept walking by our table that it became sort of annoying. Some of them had nothing to do and were just standing close by chit chatting and we can hear their whole conversation.
