A word from Da Marcella
We source all our meats from Pino's Prime Meat, located right across the street from Da Marcella since 1903, including the organic free-range chicken in our menu. All our pastas are made with the best durum wheat using the classic bronze dies that leave the surface of the pasta rough and porous to perfectly absorb our slow cooking sauces. At the same time, most of our pastas are organic and very...soon all of them will be. We believe that great food should be affordably priced.

We have a passion for good food and excellent service utilizing the best ingredients. Most importantly we have a love for food, service and quality.

Our philosophy is simple: cook with real food to create unbelievable results. Authentic food, authentic service. You deserve it.

Diner Reviews
  • "I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and quality of both the service and food. The staff couldn't have been more helpful."

  • "The very reasonable prices, consistently excellent food, and congenial service combine to make this a restaurant where we are always happy to come and to introduce it to friends. "

  • "Order the brisket with polenta and the gnocchi. Also the calamari was thick and juicy, okay.... everything was fresh local and tasty."

  • "We had excellent service and very good food at this small Italian restaurant near Greenwich Village. The sausage and eggplant appetizer was delicious as was the veal and risotto starter that the waitress offered to turn into a main course for my husband. I enjoyed the house made ravioli de la casa ( filled with mushrooms& spinach) and my daughters special black pepper pasta with wild boar ragu was divine! All of our desserts were yummy as well. Reasonably priced, nice ambience and warm service made for a great beginning to our NYC dining week-end!"

  • "The best part of our evening was the service. She was very attentive. The food, you could see based on the menu, they were trying. But while nothing was bad, nothing was great. The fried zucchini flowers were oily and not crisp; soggy. The octopus was tender but nothing extraordinary. The pastas were OK. The pepper paparadelle were peppery but the wild boar ragu that covered it had no depth of flavor. The branzino was nicely cooked and boned and filleted at my friend's request. The wine list is reasonable. We shared a flan. Again, nice but ordinary. It's unbelievably noisy. Conversation across the table was difficult. So it's your call."

  • "I have been to Da Marcella many times but Friday night was horrible. The noise was unbearably loud. I could not engage in conversation with my friends. I really had to "read between the words". I was embarrassed because I selected this restaurant which turned out to be a nightmarish dinner. I should have walked out!!!"

  • "While I would love to keep this gem a secret, it would be wrong. It is just too good. Three appetizers were all terrific. Beautifully presented and delicious. One split entree (this visit) was perfectly cooked. Ah, now I may not be able to get a reservation. They deserve the praise."

  • "Pastas were wonderfully prepared (al dente); sauces delicious; sharing was no problem; staff ( and owners) were accommodating and friendly."

  • "I recommend this restaurant. The food was tasty and affordable, the scene was pleasant and the service was friendly (if a little choppy)."

  • "ALWAYS delicious food, courteous attentive staff. You never enter or leave this restaurant without a greeting from the owner."

  • "Da Marcella has become our go-to place for great food, very reasonably priced, served in a warm, bustling atmosphere. We've taken numerous out-of-town guests who always love the food and are happily surprised by the value. Our favorites: grilled octopus, every pasta (spinach ravioli with mushroon ragu and mint a particular favorite), but we've never had anything we didn't enjoy. Excellent list of reasonably priced wines, knowledgeable staff and Alessandro couldn't be more warm and welcoming."

  • "We keep returning to this neighborhood gem that never disappoints. The zucchini flowers are now on the menu - they are excellent. Had a great red wine from Sicily, and fabulous pasta and salads. Price is right and service is charming."

  • "Having spent many months in Rome, we're usually disappointed in Italian restaurants, but not at Da Marcella's. Three of us shared appetizers - egg plant dish, mussels, and a beet salad, and all were excellent. The flavors of the egg plant and salad were distinct and the mussels were meaty and tasty. Our pasta dishes were also very good. Though the homemade gnocchi was a little over done, the fresh tomato sauce made up for it. My friends ate a daily special and both loved the pasta and sauce. Desserts - again we shared -- were really good. We're returning in less than a week with out of town guests."

  • "Love this place, and return as often as possible. Alessandro and entire staff make it so welcoming and warm. And the food is just perfect always, with new additions each time so as never to be bored. Hope they still have room for us when they get famous."

  • "I have been to Da Marcella so many times, and it always is amazing. The food is delicious and affordable. And in true Italian fashion, they never rush you out."

  • "Looking for original Italian food as if you where in Italy yourself. This is the place. Probably best value for money restaurant in town."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "The food was good but, unless you have a party of 6, you're likely to have communal seating. Also, seating is difficult to get in and out and very difficult for servers to get to you. Entrée portions are kind of small and my entrée, which was a braised short rib with polenta and was very good, needed a veg and had none."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We took our sons and a few friends --6 of us in all-- for a birthday celebration. We waited 25 minutes to be seated and the ambiance was too crowded, noisy but the void was excellent. Portions were right-sized (I hate too much food) and all were happy with their meals."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "A bit off the track for us, and the taxi had problems finding it. The restaurant was OK, nothing special. I am sure there are better Italians in NYC, but seemed like locals enjoyed it and they were all chatty. So it was a nice evening anyway."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food and ambiance were. The bruschetta is perfect and the tagliatelle bolognese was out of this world. The tiramisu was the best I've had. Dont pass up this gem."

  • "Everything was excellently prepared and the service was attentive and warm. And the burrata. Best. Burrata. Ever."
    Dined on 3/12/2014
  • "Very reasonably priced...good food, however a bit salty for our taste. Very lively place. Good vibe, just not the place to go if you want a quiet dinner-it gets very crowded, the place is small and mostly communal sitting. However, if you like those features, then worthwhile."

  • "This place is terrific - food is very good, the menu is well priced both the food and the wine- you should not miss this place"

  • "LOUD. CROWDED The delicious food outweighs the negatives. Liver and cauliflower was delicate and properly cooked. Chicken was properly spiced. Yes."

  • "We adore Da Marcella and have been there a half dozen times since "discovering" it several months ago. The food is consistently excellent and a tremendous bargain. A little noisy but the food is worth it!"

  • "Food was outstanding---everything we had was delicious! And you really can't beat the prices at the Tribeca Da Marcella location. The place is a little small, but we were graciously accommodated for our wait with an off the menu appetizer on the house and a free bottle of wine. This place is just all around great, I had a go-to Italian restaurant for years but I think we found our new spot in Da Marcella!"

  • "The best food we had in NYC. Even better than much more expensive/ trendy restaurants we visited. Fantastic overall feel. Cannot say enough about this place! -Coming from young couple who were both brought up in Italian households"

  • "Chose Da Marcella for a company get together and didn't regret it. Food was great from the antipasto to the main courses. We all loved the linguine with the sausage and peas!!!"
    Dined on 4/16/2013
  • "I wish I could give this place more than 2 stars because it had a great romantic atmosphere, but every dish we ordered tasted incredibly salty!! The overwhelming flavor of salt basically ruined the dining experience for us. We're never going back."

  • "Da Marcella is well-known to many: the food is terrific, the service is low-key but good-humored, and the place is unpretentious and confident. We loved the pastas and the eggplant appetizer and the bread and the wine and the salads and we could go on and on. Delicious, fresh, tasty. Come here if you want to concentrate on eating well."

  • "Wasn't sure about this one when I booked, however it was informal dining at its best. Friendly owners, great food and buzzy atmosphere"

  • "This is our second visit to Da Marcella, this time with a party of seven on a busy Saturday evening. The restaurant is a bit compact and I was a little concerned about whether the size of our group might stress service or food quality. There was no reason to worry. Alessandro Bandini and his staff could not have been more accommodating and the food and wine could not have been better. From multiple appetizers for the table -- one better than the next -- through mains and desserts, absolutely nothing disappointed. Da Marcella enjoys and deserves excellent reviews. Set your expectations -- the venue is not large and not lavishly decorated. The attraction is the quality of the food and the service, which come at very reasonable pricing."

  • "Before the dessert menu even arrived, we were planning our next trip to Da Marcella, because the food was so great and we had such a hard time deciding what to order in the first place. The restaurant is cozy but not crowded. I recommend a reservation, however, because there isn't much space to wait. The bruschetta was overloaded with tomatoes, but my friend enjoyed the meatballs. All of the pasta entrees we ordered were great!"

  • "Stopped by here strictly because of the OpenTable rating. I am glad I did. Great little joint with really quality food. The calamari was perfect & the special of black pepper taglatelle w/ wild boar ragu was exceptional. There was a little mix up with the apps and the manager comped us the extra plate. Very nice and very classy. Besides the food being very good, the prices are crazy! I felt like I was stealing, especially for the quality of the food. Only issue was when they ran my bill, I got a charge and complete different amount that was almost twice as much. I am sure it was an honest mistake, but....."

  • "I live in the neighborhood and have made it my go-to place. The food is sensational and the wait staff friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Everyone who has dined there with me has loved the whole place and plans to return. Prices are more than reasonable."

  • "Amazing, unique, handmade dishes with a great atmosphere and superb specials!"

  • "Not the most spacious, or the most fancy, the most expansive menu, and certainly not the most expensive ... but definitely a very, very, good Italian restaurant worth your visit. Try the meatballs for an appetizer -- even better than the specialty sliders at Little Owl. For main courses, the ravioli and bistecca were excellent. The wine list is more than reasonably priced, as is the entire menu. Try the homemade tiramisu for dessert, with a glass of moscato di asti. Service is friendly and unrushed. Great informal dining experience!"

  • "Da Marcella was the perfect place to spend my girlfriend and I three year anniversary. The restaurant is small but it is so perfectly set up that it sets a wonderful mood. Each table had their own candle lit. The waiters and waitress were very nice and we're consistent about checking up on us. We started off with a bischotti which I have to say was extremely fresh and just had this amazing fusion of garlic and tomato. We both got a pasta with sausage in it. Absolutely worth it. Everything is reasonably priced. We finished off the night with the two best desserts: cheesecake and chocolate cake with gelato on top. They were absolutely delicious. Everything about this experience was just perfect. It's definitely a place for all couples to try."
